- Well, as you can see this is one part of a collection of Video Game Music that I consider to be the best of best (or just my favorites). This is in no particular order. Feel free to debate and criticize my selection's (no arguing or flaming would be nice, but...). I post tracks from games I have played mostly, although I may go outside of my box on special cases. Please throw a recommendation my way and I hope you enjoy my picks.
In The Earthen Womb from, in my humble opnion the timeless classic Illusion of Gaia. I sure do miss this game. - เพลง
I remember playing this game and having this song play after saving..... At night I would turned on snes, loaded game, then saved game after loading just for this song, turn lights off, so to sleep with tv on...... My ipod of the 1990s
+jrm99002 Me, too! It's so beautiful...
+jrm99002 This and the song at the end of Secret of Mana that just plays on a loop.
+jrm99002 I say the same my friend, hehe we are two. Greetings !!
Haha! Me too! I used to whistle it to my kid brother and sister when they were throwing tantrums as babies and it always calmed them right down!
I did the exact same thing, and even made my own post saying the same thing on someone else's video of this song.
Like I said in the past, this song connects the game with our childhood. We remember when Hamlet sacreficed himself, we remember when we were adrift. We also remember when Kara and Will returned to earth, after they watched the earth from afar.
Literally the game represents a neverending circle we all experience every day: There are factors out there that influence people in a bad way, it doesn't have to be a comet. These things also influence on how we evolve, so the question at the beginning of the game, wheather the comet is a good or bad omen is absolutely correct. Although the light it touches changes the people, it also reminds us on how frail and simple we all are and that every bad influence of evolution is essential in order to survive and fit ourselves to new situations, because Lily's words are absolutely right "The time makes us forget about unpleasent things, this is our only comfort."
I love your comment!
Studio Ghibli should make a movie about this game.
Funny you should say that. The story in this game actually reminded me of something studio Ghibli would make. Given the simple premise of saving the world with more emphasis on the characters and their relationships with each other.
But then I want the whole trilogy, which means TERRANIGMA!!!!! and the other one, which name I forgot, ehm... Soul something. Ah, right, soul blazer.
I choke up into tears when I hear this song. When I close my eyes, I can see memories of things long gone, things that I want to grasp one last time, even if only for a short moment...
Well said
I've never played Illusion of Gaia, but for me this song brings that melancholic nostalgia that makes you feel sorry for not enjoying enough or missing something when you were a kid, so the eyes get filled with water
Ugh, here come the tears...
Its ok. Just let them flow.
Try not to cry, cry anyway
+Idykymil LeonVII I hear you. This was the first and only game *that had me crying at the end!*
"There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known." - Carl Sagan
This game and its ending reminds me of this great quote.
A pale blue dot...
When I was about 9 years old, I was playing this game while very sick with my mom. She fell asleep on the couch and I kept playing. Eventually I saved and accidentally decided to rest for awhile. Instead of getting up to reset I was lulled to sleep by this song. Will never forget that.
I never understood the entire story that much, but the character development was the best part of the game and I felt I could connect with each character.
I remember when lance said "I feel like a million Summer days!"
@MysticalManatee I agree, I wouldn't call this song 'sad', it more falls under 'nostalgia' and even 'reverie' in terms of what it has a tendency of doing to the listener. For me, it's the former, because me, like so many others that played this game, the music made such an impact on my life that I'm still listening to it today, and it causes memories of those times to come flowing back and it really chokes me up. It creates a great yearning for the past inside me that I don't want to let go of.
Tears... family ... back to 1997 ... childhood ... thank you people. SNES rules !!! Greetings from Bulgaria. Great games, great memories. I love you all :)
there will never be such a memorable song in a video game. I hope they play this at my funeral
oh god... I guess when I last played this game I was too young to appreciate this song properly. But it was so beautiful, so spiritual, so bittersweet. Gets me everytime I hear it. Think I'm gonna dust off the snes and show my fiancee what she missed out on... At risk of sounding like my parents, they just don't make em like they used to.
Commanderoko Be sure to let her play Terranigma as well :) they tend to like that one too
I love this sound track..It's making me sob a little bit I was 3-4 years old playing this with my older brother..Its nostalgia to my heart, reminds me of some of the moments in life you cant forget and that make you who you are. I see myself going back to that game and beating it again. Not then will my heart feel at rest.
Did you ever go back to it?
When I first heard this while playing Illusion of Gaia at my friend's back in the day, I instantly fell in love with it. Such a beautiful piece of music. I think one day, when I draw my final breath, I want to have this played and reminisce about my life.
Ever just say no just so this song plays on repeat in the background while you did your homework? If you know you know. If you don't... I'm so sorry for you. Wish this game never got stolen...
There really is something magical about this game. It's a truly Archetypal story with deep life lessons about suffering and sacrifice. I played it when I was around 6 years old and it planted the seed of my lifelong interests in ancient cultures and the mythologies surrounding them. It's s timeless gem!
I was having a horrible day today, and suddenly had the urge to listen to this song.
It's better than I remembered...
I think beyond any other piece, this song represents this game perfectly. I don't know exactly why, but it evokes emotion in me, beautiful, pure emotion, you may not think you'll find beauty in the music like that in an old game, but just like our earth, there is beauty and wonder to be found, enchanting like a fantasy, and you don't need to escape to a video game for it, our very earth has many of these places within.
i had a crappy childhood i was beaten alot but this song all it does is bring back the good memories of it i feel like im just watching myself all over again all in 2 minutes and 50 secs when i played this for the first time i played it when i slept helped me sleep i didnt think of it emotional until now
i agree with this
Everytime when i listen this i remeber my past. when my life was good and not so troublesome as today
these 2.50 minutes are the only few minutes were i feel good these days
I remember getting this game at a thrift store a loooong time ago. I was so young at the time, but I remember this song wold always make me tear up...
You know, this is one of those games that has a certain power. There are very few games remaining nowadays that utilizes this power through music. Illusion of Gaia not only wielded music, but it also had a incredible story line, insane character development, and a unique battle/puzzle style game.
I'm so ashamed I never played this when i was younger... but now as i play it for the first time, I guess i can say this game really really hit me hard in the feels...
Quintet's SNES trilogy was fantastic in general. To me, they're every bit as special as Earthbound. It's sad to know that its like will never appear again.
this is such a sad song but some how its so soothing . i miss the days playing this game
This song, for me at the very least, calls to a different time, when things were simpler. Many of us remember being children when we first played this game, and this game has touched us all. This song, much as it did for the characters in the game, has given us a glimpse back into our own memories from so many years ago. For myself...this song is like standing on the edge of oblivion, seeing the entire expanse of creation and understanding the place I have. I, like you, long for the past.
SNES has some of the best... the best music in the history of video games👍
so peaceful and serene; some of my fondest memories were venturing to worlds like this. this tune embodies that nicely
Great song... from Yashuiro Kawasaki
Illusion of Time... Easily brings me the best moments of my childhood.
A beautiful story, and music to pierce souls
I grew up playing this game (im 19 by the way) ^_^ Ah the memories lol may they never fade but always be with us in our hearts :)
How old were you? I played this over 20 years ago when it was "new" - a golden age of RPGs. Even if it was retro, I'm glad.
@@majordetractor when I first started playing it? Probably about 8 or 9
@@joseph1up that's so cool, that's around the time I picked it up, 10 or so. I think those of us who played it as kids will never forget the feelings the games evoked as art. I'm just glad people still play, really; I hope the next generation picks up the classics on their super-emulators.
Interesting to come across this comment. How does it feel to be 30?
This tune doesn't make me feel sad as much as it makes me reflect. Like the great Doctor Seuss said:
Don't cry because it's over.
Smile because it happened. :)
That's the feeling I get from this song, and after playing the game both in its heyday and over a decade later.
I am so lucky to have a decently working Super Nintendo and this game is my all time favorite. I am still able to play Illusion of Gaia, and it is the game that started me down the path of gaming. since i prefer games with depth and story behind them, i can truthfully and happily blame it on this game. i just wish i could find the sheet music to this song, but thank you so so so very much for posting it up here on youtube!!
Que recuerdos me trae esta musica y que sentimental me pongo cuando pienso que pasaba horas y horas jugando a este juego y que bien me lo pasaba hehe. Gracias por subir :)
In all the top X music lists, Illusion of Gaia is always ignored. When music has the power to do the things that this song is capable of, I don't see how you can ignore it. I love the final boss theme as well, but if I had to pick one song, this one is just too beautiful to ignore. I always remember the scene where Seth(?) recovers his lost memories and the symbolism attached when I hear this. Just an amazing piece.
@NinjaAlby I'm 25, and it's exactly the same with me. Not only do I see myself, but I recall all of the hopes, dreams and ambitions of my childhood. It's like i'm 12 years old again. All that optimism, fearlessness and spirit. I always bring a little of it back with me every time, from half a lifetime ago.
MaricAlistaro... Thank you :)
eternity is not the final stop for the soul though, we are all part of a greater cycle then just resting with our respective gods, the soul while constant, will always go back to re-experience the glorious journey known as life, no matter how painful or bitter it may be, and fear of what lays after death, no matter how strong your faith is shall always be present
the most sad "song" you can find in any game, ever! awesome :)
the Soul Blazer trilogy to me was a match for any other top game on the SNES still some of my favorite game, I wish they got more recognition
Played this game 15 years ago and I still love this song at 31. Used let it play on continuously just letting my thoughts drift on the melody. Used to whistle the tune to put my lil sis to sleep! lol. Thanks for posting
I love coming back to this song. Illusion of Gaia/Time was such an adventure!
Always loved this game!
very very well said, tears come to my face too. very touching how you described it, i miss the late 80's and 90's world, everything in the past had more life to it, even now if i were to play this game i would get that same wonderful feeling,....i miss it.
i never got to play this game, seeing that i was too young and such, but i always watched my dad play it. im trying to get my hands on a duper nintendo and this game now.. hope i have luck w finding it!
This brings up good memories......
I can barely listen to this without tears in my eyes.
one of my all time favorite games and tracks, brings up memories
Wow. This brought back memories. I've not played this game in forever. I need to dig out the old snes and play it again. Brilliant game! And I agree, this is a lovely song ^__^
Gaia: “Will you continue your journey?”
Will: “No”
Gaia: “Then rest a while.”
(My character teleported off screen and I thought I broke the game as this music played.) 😅
i wish i still had this game
I love all these comments, i think i was destined to play this game
@NinjaAlby glad i'm not the only one here.
I miss those early days,i feel like all is lost at time.
But i think that having one chance at something allows us to appreciate things more.
beautiful.......
I hope in time your fear passes. From what I've read, I'm open to anything unless it can be disproved, death is us being released from our temporary and finite life on Earth, and back into our infinite and TRUE life on the Other Side with God. That immortal and timeless state is our true nature. To those on the Other Side, we appear as the dead because we have left them for this world. You are the immortal Ohm, (a name for God) the only thing that's real. You have power over all fear and death.
I was 10 when I played this. I didnt fully understand it at the time, but for a SNES game, it was pretty deep. The Jackal, the Mayans, Hamlet sacrificing himself...there were many thematic elements in this game that really set aside from other adventure titles. And this game does take me back, sitting in my hot room, 1:30 at night, on a steamy summer night.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOO found it! ive been looking everywhere for this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@MysticalManatee you took the words right out of my mouth
One of the best games ever!!!!!
i'm speachless at the thought of the gameplay and storyline
@NinjaAlby i love you for saying this. I am 27, and I feel the same way.
This reminds me on my childhood.. i was just 3 or 4 years old..
WOW :)
its a shame this song has such a small amount of views. truely, this song is the one that brought me back to an adventure i was proud to be a part of
@NinjaAlby
Same goes for myself.
I will be 30 this year and i remember this game fondly.
Beutifull game that brings meaning to life.
my favorite song of the game
People argue over FF6 and FF7, but I think this game beat them both by a mile. It was such a moving story and the soundtrack was stellar
This game is really one of the best, Love it!!!!!
People always ask what is beauty.. i say, this music is beauty combined with great memories. Love this game, it's deep..
i need to cry....
@NinjaAlby Having a tragedy happen is not twhat makes it tragic, its the actual story combined with character build up which makes you appreciate and love the character.
This is what illusion of gaia has and what makes it great.
Totally agree. Reincarnation is something I believe in.
love this song
This song was playing in my head when my gf broke up with me. Almost telling me everything will be better. Thanks for posting. :-)
Like the name implies this song is very...motherly? I guess that's a weird word to describe a SOUND, but that's how it feels. Like Will decides to rest, and I can almost see him curled up, with Gaia keeping him safe as he sleeps.
This song makes me reflect on my life, and ponders about what happens after death. A very touching song.
Ah, Will! It's been a while. Such a world! If only I could speak of it at a university, I'd be a great scholar...
Poor Seth...
Illusions Of Gaia Is a classic no doubt about it, but i have the english version of this game which was titled Illusions Of Time, still same game but just slightly different title as Illusions Of Gaia was the Japanese version if i am correct, but yes i was only a child myself when i played this & completed it all the way through, i am now 33 years old, but 1 track that will always stick with me was this track in the game, it is a good track to the game & very touching.
when i was 6 when played this i beat it and then i asked my parents if i could go see gaia lol this song brings lots of good memories back
This song always mellows me out :) All Zen like :P
@abion224 I listened to it to sleep as well, now that I hear it I feel differently - like I'm going back to that time, but still feel some part of it beyond the time I was in when I first heard it. Hope for both our sakes that the old, illusion, is not totally lost
😭 This.... ❤️
ive heard a piano version of it, beautiful
Standing on a comet bathed in light as you and the girl you care about speak to the spirits of your parents about the evolution the Earth is about to undertake. Aww yeah.
This is one of those songs that will make you shiver and maybe tear when you listen to them as a child. And the effect only intensivies with age
i love u god
@NinjaAlby this game was goddamn powerful. And it's so weird, because it's the second one in the series. I think its leaps and bounds ahead of the first and third. One of the reasons SNES remains my favourite system.
I should replay this again , but without help cause I was 8 last time I played
Dood, I'd pay money to have a 10 minute version of this song just looping through.
BEST GAME EVER!!!
Illusion of feels
Record what's happen so... yeah, yeah
Continue your... no!
*Will disapears* *music plays*
wait...
I am so dumb -.-
Ironically you and I are probably not the only ones who found this song that way.
??? I'm not sure I understand your comment. Are you making fun of me for having a spiritual side?
this song is the perfect remedy to hours of sleepless gameplay.
thumbs up if you've been there :D
...This game needs a remake, or a DS port. I totally dont care. I'd buy it either way.
the simply Melody its a candy Dream
I cried, remembering everybody who'd died... Seth, the Russian Glass guy, Hamlet, will's parents, and Noel's as well....
T___T que recuerdos ...
This Game is unique
I wa thinkin of maybe posting the entire OST since I havnt been able to find it on youtube. Anrone Intersted?
@NinjaAlby You and me both, every time.
Since this song is also in Illusion Of Time =)
Listening to this as the Notre Dame burns. :(
