I'll share a tip that might help guitar players. If you use CAGED to navigate around and take leads on individual chords, especially those that are outside of the key, remember this as a reference. FIG. 1: C-4, A-5, G-1, E-2, D-3. C A G E D This is CAGED with the scale (pattern number) reference after it. It can be very handy. Just note, if it is a major key, your starting position of the first pentatonic scale position might be a few frets lower (the usual major vs. minor penta thing.) It depends where the root is. For example, if you start with your pinky on the root at fret #7, you will be playing pattern five (5) of the major pentatonic pattern which looks like the 1st shape of the minor pentatonic pattern. Remeber, they are numbered differently. You can also slide up so your index finger is now on 7 and play the 1st position of the B major penta which is also the 2nd position of the relative G# minor penta pattern. Much the same as the 5th shape of the B major penta is the 1st position (pattern) of the relative minor, G#m penta. Bottom line is if you are jamming, and know where your CAGED chords are, during the chord changes, you can easily jump into the familiar pentatonic scale patterns all over the neck. Most competant players will play the changes and not simply meandor around a scale. Playing the changes, by far sounds more musical and just right. Strive to sing and play the familiar melody (usually it is sung), not just the music. Always know where your root notes are. Probably most people will get confused by this and not get it. That was me a few years ago- very confused. I shared it for that one person who is close to getting it. Having that reference for CAGED with the shape number after it can be a breakthrough. Playing music, at least for me is about lightbulb moments. About struggling, but then finally getting it. Like assembling a huge jigsaw puzzle where every once in a while, certain patterns come into focus and it starts to make sense. You got this! Cheers! 😉
I heard the first 3 notes and said, this is what I've been looking for! I get a lot of backing tracks that aren't backing tracks. The backing tracks are what we are supposed to play, not the backing track. You playing the keyboards is perfect and ... um well, nothing beats perfect! LOL This is what backing tracks are really supposed to be and we play really great together. Thank you!
Are you a blind man navigating thrue the Internet thrue some sort of way enabling blind people to do so? You literally had to have closed your eyes clicking the video to make that comment lmao
It’s in the key of G but starts on the 4 chord (C) so G major scale works nicely. Mix a bit of G blues scale to taste also. The B7 chord is the exception as it is not part of the key of G so you have to treat that chord differently. As I said in the description a good place to start is to use the B7 arpeggio over this chord. B D# F# A notes. Apart from that key of G for the rest of the progression Hope you have some fun with it!
@@playjamtracks can really emphasize the E minor, of course which is the relative minor, but it seems that A minor plays nicely over as well, the 2nd. Just a great song !
4:12 really nice turnaround. Sound like something that could (should) be a soundtrack e.g., like for Cheers if you remember that show. An oldie like me.
Me too- major, minor penta and major scale. Have you ever seen the major scale as simply patterns of 4 notes? I discovered this last week and cannot unsee it now. It's proving very helpful.
A lot of songs start on a chord other than the tonic. It can create interest, and also affect where the melody starts, but in the case of this song you will notice the G chord always feels like home. Thanks for checking out the track.
A bit late, and not a music theory expert by any means, but if you count them, there are 6 uses of the C chord. Four in the verse, one in the chorus, and one in the bridge. But there are 7 uses of the G. Four in the verses, and three in the chorus, making G the most common chord, making it the key.
@@playjamtracks With YOU playing it- yes. Was the rest a backing track? Where can I get things like that- besides YTbe. Was it just a video, or are there sites to download such things into my DAW? The whole thing was really nice.
I put it all together. I played the bass parts on my keyboard and programmed the drums on computer. These days you can hardly tell. I would like to invest in a bass for these tracks
@@playjamtracks I could barely tell but since I have been using my Trio I figured as much. Almost too perfect. I don't really like my Trio- but like what you did. Do more!
Si..buen tema que lo copia Jimmy cantando..Sería bueno poner el audio original que salió en un CD creo..con la versión original..con la voz de Martín Hurtado y el bajo .del gran Miguel Donayre..pig.. QEPD a quien conocí muy joven
This track is so intriguing. It´s uplifiting, but kind of sad at the same time. Beautiful.
this is currently one of my absolute favorite tracks to jam to. thank you for creating this
That’s awesome thanks Dom!

Thanks for taking the time to put the chord changes up on the screen. Most jam channels don't bother, but it's immensely useful.
My pleasure thanks for the comment!
Many do.
Sounds like "feels like rain"
It says feels like rain in the title
And in the description
Yep that’s it feels like rain great song. Is fun to jam along to! 🎸

Hands down my favorite backing to play my Fender Jazz ❤

This is excellent. It forces me out of the blues and minor pentatonics. Very nice!!
