Are the player/old ones play mats the same size as the ones from other tiny epic games such as tiny epic zombies?

I don't have Zombies, but they are the same 88mm × 125mm of the cards in Galaxies/Kingdoms - pretty sure it is the standard across their whole range

The only Tiny Epic I've played is Tiny Epic Galaxy, which I quite like. My only real complaint about the game is the expansion. It's not a bad expansion, but it sort of takes over the game - if you don't engage with it while other players do, I don't see how it's possible to win.

Do you mean the Galaxies expansion, or "Cult of Chaos" for Cthulhu?

I was referring to the Tiny Epic Galaxies Expansion. In addition to introducing new abilities and options, it adds new ways to score points that I don't think you can win the game without.

I've only really played Tiny Epic Galaxies solo, which doesn't work with the expansions - but I have added in the "secret missions" cards to add some excitement to the final scoring!

So where does it fit in the Tiny Epic series? In the top third? Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I'd put it right in the middle, 5/10. It's not the worst I've played... And overall it's a good game with good ideas, but the complexity is what makes it struggle in the "Tiny Epic" series. If they weren't constrained by having to fit it all in the small box size, they could have made bigger boards, and clearer player aids to make the "motion" of the various tentacles clearer...
And if they *do* get the improved rulebook into the retail version, then that will bump it up a few notches for the added clarity!
