Our party had to seek out Bahumat for aid in stopping Tiamat's DRAGON FLIGHT (portals open up to the 9 hells & chromatic dragons plus Tiamat's avatar pour out) from taking PLACE in our game's world. We received a riddle of "seek him behind the North wind". We're like OK that really helps, how do you go behind the North Wind?. After some time & a few divination spells we discovered a tavern in our homebrew's capital called "The North Wind"... Bahumat was chill in the back. DM got a real kick out of that. 😅😅😅😅
I guess that I'm guilty of puerile simplicity. My first fantasy novels were the Dragonlance Chronicles. There is Paladine, and there is Takhisis. Water is wet, the sun is hot, Paladine is impossibly good, and Takhisis is impossibly evil. It made sense to my young mind. As I've grown, read more from many more sources, played dungeons and dragons, immersed myself in the exquisite pleasure of Krynnish and Forgotten Realms draconic lore - I can't say that I've evolved with the content. Water is wet, the sun is hot, Paladine/Bahamut is impossibly good, and Takhisis/Tiamat is impossibly evil. It's limiting, but it's soothing. I've only ever enjoyed playing good-aligned characters; thus, I'm team Platinum for life! Thank you, AJ Pickett - this is a GORGEOUS exploration into those OTHER draconic deities. 100/100. Brilliant.
Thanks AJ, great video as always! This will help in my current game where I got the rare and coveted opportunity to reach 17th level as a wizard and promptly used true polymorph to become an adult gold dragon. So, question for AJ and the great community here: How can I, as a player, effectively role play being a dragon? I’ve already started work excavating a lair near a city I like, started calculating how much gold is needed for a comfortable bed, and hired a bard to start spreading tales of my exploits. Any more ideas?
Finally got around to seeing the whole video. Work at the hospital has been a mess, so thanks for the oasis of nerdy calm in my day. Seems like Tiamat is just as conniving and scheming as Glasya. I wonder if one has ever tried to make a power play on the other? I don’t see Asmodeus caring either way as he clearly respects both his daughter and the Dragon queen.
I love Dragons. They are my favorite fantasy creature. And since so many fantasy books, movies, and games inspired me to write my own Fantasy material. I always saw Dragons as beings that don't need Gods, because they are so immensely powerful and wise throughout the ages. In how I see Dragons is the older a Dragon gets the more one with the primordial forces of the cosmos they become with. Not only do they get bigger with age, but the more powerful the older they get as well, and even the more omniscient they become because they are made out of the fundamental forces of the cosmos. So if a Dragon is billions of years old they are much larger than a planet and can challenge and kill even a God.
In Oathlords the dragons are minions of the Erðfaðir. They come from the earth and hoard metals because their scales transmute into an alloy based on what they collect. So of course the greatest is the mithril dragon... whose rivals are those of iron and bronze... but there are also more numerous lesser drakes of silver, gold, copper, etc. They spread wings and climb to peaks because, like humans, they're striving to harness the power of the ether... the opposite of earth... which is unnatural and breaks the world. So I like seeing them as elemental and semi-divine beings as well... with a destructively selfish purpose.
47:00 Sardior is what I came for and was disappointed that he has such a short section. I'm running a game with a Red Dragonborn that decided to change to Ruby (Crystal) when Fizban's came out. He's in for a wild ride...
wotc on their website had a huge section dedicated to Sardior for 3rd edition in mind's eye. His myth, stats, thanes. A unique gem dragon the served him as a sort of scientist. It had a prestige class, and several psionic abilities as well. Even talked about his church.
Hey @aj Pickett just want to send out a thank you and a keep it up. I'm not in a place to send a bunch of financial support at this time but I just want you to know that I appreciate the countless hours you spend bringing all this luscious lore to life. When the time comes and it will come. I'll not forget to buy the merch and support the cause because, my word, your amazing. Also(all this flattering talk not withstanding) would love to see a video from you regarding the World Serpent Inn. Nobody else has done one and I think your the best so you get to be hassled by me. Sorry, not sorry lol
@AJ Pickett All these negative comments below are a little disheartening! It sounds like people are upset because the D&D lore has expanded so much beyond the original, which is inevitable for any popular cultural phenomenon. And sometimes people take that expansion a little too far or err a bit on the ridiculous side. There are many examples of this: Lovecraft, Star Wars (and how Disney defiled it), Star Trek (and how JJ Abrams and the current spin-offs have defiled it), etc. That's certainly not your doing. You're giving us the complete history of the lore -- the good, the bad and the ugly. And you do a damn fine job in your videos too. Your channel is my favorite among the channels with D&D content. Please don't be disheartened by the negative comments from disenfranchised D&D fans. You're doing a great job, and I hope you keep it up. Have a good one, AJ!
MTG fan here, Progenitor of Dragons is "The Ur-Dragon" best described as an enormous being who's existence is to spread dragon kind threw the multiverses. Not saying its better just throwing another marble into the bag of ideas to talk about, its fun as a new fan of D&D to imagine how they would all get along, is it all serious like 40K or would they be more laid-back with each other in an almost Disney way. Whatever it may be its fun to learn, thank you for your great work!
I mean you can totally make mtg real in your world and planeswalkers are just people able to move through the phlogiston without the need of spells or spelljammers. Ravnica has been converted. The ur dragon could just be another name of Io.
@@necro6767676 Agreed on the Ur Dragon just being another name for Asgorath/Io. The phlogiston (Blind Eternities in MtG) is still inhospitable to planeswalkers that lurk there for any length of time. They all pass through it quickly, like a teleportation of sorts. Venser had to make a special type of globes that could allow an extended journey through the Blind Eternities. Otherwise, per canon, only beings like the eldrazi can just hang out there, without using some sort of special ability, spell, item, vehicle...something. Obviously, there are rules so there must be exceptions of some sort (like Venser's orbs or a ship). Your game, your rules...I'm just saying what the official lore states.
Alright, today was a good day. Lots of stuff got done and I'm exhausted. Oh a new video from professor Pickett. I'll just watch this before I go to be- 56:35?!" I'm saving this for the morning but commenting now😋
My Kobold alchemist is one who prays to Aio not so much to gain power but to help retain his balanced chaotic nature. As a result he is very quick witted and if pissed off will cause so much verbal pain you might die from that over the arrows of his crossbow.
I'm running a campaign where my players are young bronze and copper dragons. Tiamat has risen defeated the avatar of Bahamut in the prime material plane and has ruled half the planet all metallic dragons seeing the fall of their king fled to another realm. Only thing from stopping her from ruling it all is a prismatic dragon telling her the rest is his. They have to gather the artifacts and summon Bahamut to fight tiamat again.
Marduk in my campaigns is a humanoid aspect of Bahamut. Then again, I have my own stuff that I birthed in 1986. I adapted a lot of it, over and over again, to not clash with AD&D stuff that I got later. And WOAH! AJ, you covered a LOT of dragon gods I was not even remotely aware of. Kudos, bro.
Not to detract from how Awsome this video is; but I really liked how you credited all the artists. That was really cool imho. But you didn't list the name of the artist on the image of the arcane master and his adept. As someone who plays a dragon worshiping fire wizard who constantly mentions how his various apprentices have met their ends in tragic accidents, I really wanted to find this one for my collection! Can you help me out?
Im wanting videos about the lessor known chromatics and metallics such as adamantine as well since sadly they don't get the attention they should in many cases compared to their more covered cousins so also hard for some to get info on them
Love your stuff! I know it's a lot of work, but would you consider reorganizing your videos into specific playlists? All dragon videos in one playlist, for example
Bahamut and Tiamat need their own videos. The reality is.... each of the 6 canaries of Bahamut need their own video. I'm continually disappointed at how great beings don't have unique spells, weapons, defensive items and powers. A "fireball" or breath weapon of a unique greater power should be incredibly destructive and almost a guaranteed kill if it's a direct hit without creative and specific defenses.
@SPB___ it's the truth tho 🤷🏿♂️ I do it all the time. I agree with the original comment but the fact is, the Wizards of the Coast don't do that too often but you as the DM can. I had an Amnizu devil be the BBEG of one campaign. He was like hedonism bot from Futurama. I gave him an ability where he could sense the desires of a person & offer it to them. If they failed a charisma save they would fight for him for 1 round & attack their friends, believing it would help them get their desires. Listen to Naddpod or Dungeons & Daddies, the DMs on there are excellent at making up cool random powers their badass characters have. There's also some resources online that can be Googled to give you an idea. So as I said, you're the DM. Make it up.
@@SPB___ Take your own advice. His was a perfectly appropriate response and something that more DM's SHOULD be doing, unlike your response which added nothing but more belly aching
One of the ways I know I love your channel is because just listening to you gives me exciting new ideas for my campaign. As always thank you AJ - and yes, please do Eberron! If you could find time during your remaster to cover Steel Dragons I would really appreciate it too; they're one the most underutilized and underappreciated dragons and I would love to hear what you dig up!
I'm currently writing my own OC campaign for 5e, and this video gave me more dragon gods than I could actually hope to use! Thank you for the buffet of dragonic deities! I'll choose the best ones for my purposes, again thank you
What’s the approximate power level difference between an Ancient Dragon and Bahamut and between Bahamut and Azgorath? I’m just trying to wrap my head around how easy it would be for the higher tiers to defeat the lower ones.
That's an interesting idea! How would you go about executing that? Would you do this in a more vanilla setting, like Forgotten Realms or Greyhawk? Or would you do this somewhere bit different, like Dragonlance or even your own homebrew setting? How do Bahamut's Draconic followers view the human worshippers of Paladine, and vice-versa? Do these groups know they're the same God, and if not, why don't they know and how does that affect the relationship between the two religions?
I tried to do this kinda thing with my first ever character!!!! I the campaign kinda fizzled but this was basically my idea! He was a brass dragon paladin! I was trying to figure out how he would’ve been raised as a soldier and how he covered his face
You can tell Elder Scrolls Skyrim took a lot of ideas from DnD Dragon lore. Akatosh being the dragon god of time and is the beginning and end of time, who stops and restarts the kalpa ( the birth, life and death of a world). It's really cool to see lore and mythology connect across games, writings, movies and artistic creations.
No art is truely original. But across cultures and time, sometimes it can happen that something gets invented again. A billion apes typing William Shakespear and Lao Zu and Siegmund Freud and Hannah Arend.
Yep, i was an Elder Scrolls Lore nerd before getting into D&D and i see so many similarities, though i'd say that of the fantasy series that we know are based mainly in D&D, Elder Scrolls is probably the one that mixes things up the most, thanks to some amazing writers like Michael Kirkbride.
Makes sense, Elder scrolls was literally based upon a D&D game the creators played back in the day. But honestly, Elder scrolls lore imo WAY surpassed D&D lore. ES Lore gets batshit insane in places.
@@danielbroome5690 Thanks to Michael Kirchbright, the main loorwriter for The Elder Scrolls. What most people don't know is, that a main inspiration for him was hinduism. The konzepts of kalpa, the godhead and apohheosis of Vivek are some examples.
Hey AJ, Love what you do & how you do it. Just thought I’d ask you if you’d edit the video description to include an index by time-stamp like your Faiths & Clerics video, please & thank you! You’re my boi, Pickett!
Is that the one from that novel that was used to gain access to a celestial realm by an infernal power? The one that really has no other reason to exist in the D&D cosmology and that author should be smacked on the nose with a rolled up Lore Book for being naughty?
AJ Pickett Question How low is Bahamut really in the pecking order of the dragon gods (obviously he's not the lowest but still as shown in the video)? is it really massive or is it a simple power gap on a scale that could potentially be tipped in his favor if he takes in a some new portfolios or gains followers? Obviously he cant surpass Io/Asgorath, that's a no brainer. But how about Lendys Since they only got one other god in between them? (im going by the order you go on explaining them from 21:00 and onward) it seems like Lendys and Bahamut tend to step on each others toes (claws?) in terms of justice and discipline. Could Bahamut surpass Lendys if a good chunk of his followers start worshiping Bahamut instead due to his more forgiving and caring nature compared to Lendys. And if so, where are a large Quantity of Lendys worshipers located? cause we dont hear much of them, especially in modern day. Bahamut kinda has a lot of spotlight with players to these days. Because there's no doubt Bahamut is well respected and is very popular, so a lack of worshipers is not an issue any time soon with him, especially in the forgotten realms. Are worshipers of Lendys located in another high populated material plane or is it a case where lendys has less followers but is still more innately powerful than Bahamut?
Again, we are talking about a case by case basis within a region, a cult, a militant clerical order, a kingdom, a region, a continent, a world, a crystal sphere. Clearly on Toril there is a kind of transition that has taken place where a younger generation has grown up after a major civil war and a certain amount of scorn is placed on the older generation and with them, their beliefs. This could change again and again, such that given enough time, what was once an evil god of destruction, could become a natural god of renewal to many, and thus, the deity evolves a new incarnation that may exist in parallel to their original form and then become entirely independent. As the religion changes, the gods a literally rewritten in their source code, if you see what I mean?
Lendys represents a more...abstract concept than Bahamut's far more idealistic concerns. The other reason is that Bahamut simply has far more enemies, especially Tiamat and Falazure. It's actually Falazure who's the greatest threat; Monster Mythology establishes that he's the deity who's become the most embroiled in the affairs of mortal races.
My head cannon for why we dont have any of the dragon gods in 5e is cause when the spell plague happened they all become mortal and a bunch of 4e adventures killed them all
Null was one of my favourite dragon god. Im pretty sad they never expended anything related to that deity since 3e...especially when he is the brother of Bahamut and Tiamat....which are pretty big name deities.
He isn't there brother, as this video points out, and he is kind of overrated IMO. Also, almost all the dragon gods are tiamat's and bahamut's brother and sisters....
I know you're quite fond of your Fire Giant video but I propose that this may be your finest video yet! Would love a downloadable file of the artwork if legally viable.
This was greatly enlightening. For the longest time, I've only known about Bahamut, Tiamat, Tamara, Lendys, and Io/Asgorath. I never imagined that the draconic pantheon would be so wide! Seriously, a Draconic goddess of HUMOR? Who could have POSSIBLY seen that coming!? This just gives me even more ideas for Dragonborn characters....
@@ecivedsusagep Brass too, to some extent. Many dragons have a sense of humor, but they don't care if they're the only ones laughing when it comes to the punch line.
All nerds, in all fields, get like this really. If there is enough knowledge on a subject, the experts will begin to hord it. And then the dragon madness sets in... 🤓⏱😵📚🐉💰
This has rekindled my long lost desire for role playing.. My once favorite GM lost his way and is stuck in routines, where every game i a clone of the last... I have started running games before i took a break from role playing, so think running a game myself, is the solution to give my imagination the exercise it needs and indulge my desire to play a good game! Thanks!
So I might just be stupid but isnt Fizbans Treasury of Dragons a book that exists in the D&D multiverse written by Fizban a avatar of Dragonlances version of Bahamut and if I remember correctly every universe has different gods and just because a god exists in 1 universe they might not exist in another and as far as im aware there has never been a single Dragon God besides Bahamut and Tiamat mentioned in Dragonlance so Fizbans calling the other Dragon Gods Greatwyrms isnt a retcon its actually saying they do exist in Dragonlance but they arent yet Gods there
Yep! To keep with canonicity (if you can call it that) with previous editions, I’ve elected to keep any existing, older, dragon pantheons, though I have elevated Bahamut and Tiamat out of respect for both their popularity and importance to certain canons (seriously, they’re lesser deities in older FR!) The idea that these dragon gods have forms that still exist on worlds where they are not worshipped actually sounds like a really good idea that more closely ties into the creation myth than simply casting them off as non-existent everywhere!
I find it interesting that nonhumans each have single pantheons, while humans have multiple. Of course, the real-world explanation ('Doylist') is that, historically, we have a great many human pantheons to use as inspiration for the gods of fantasy humans, while nonhuman deities must be created from whole cloth, a decidedly more difficult task. (Occasionally, they can be adapted from real-world beliefs, e.g. Surtur, Thrym, and Tiamat.) Does anyone have a good in-universe ('Watsonian') explanation?
There was story of Vorel brother dragon to Tiamat and Bahamut that Tiamat killed. He was a beautiful but simple minded. I want resurrect him as the a Dragon God of cuteness. Protecting cute beings by making them basically Nilbog-Revenants that can get enact justice on there abusers. Working out his own trauma through them.
veeeeery random thought but since dragons are quite extra-dimensional in nature, is it because of them, (through the pact they have with Githzerai) that the Githzerai themselves became quite extra-dimensional? Or is that purely through the mindflayer exposure? (wanna use the gith a bit in my next campaign
Not at all, the pact with the red dragons was a deal between Tiamat and Vlakith. The Githyanki are just one faction of the Gith species, they are a pan-dimensional, trans-temporal species who no longer have an origin as it gets overwritten when the Mindflayers travelled back in time and essentially created themselves. Whatever the real origin of either species was, the universe that happened in is no longer in existence as anything other than faded echo's in the border ethereal plane.
@@AJPickett Thank you for answering. By off chance could you please make a video covering draconic laws and honor? Like is a dragon legally allowed to kill another or be a follower of Tiamat? I'm just a little confused at the moment. And hey, if you don't want to, you don't have to. It's your channel, not mine. Have a nice day!
To answer your question. Lendys was known as the God of Harsh justice. Lendys' brand of justice only dictated dragonkind so evil dragons could still be evil and unless they committed an egregious crime against dragonkind itself Lendys would turn a blind eye "As arbiter of dragonkind, Lendys served as judge, jury, and executioner. When a dragon committed an injustice against all dragons, Lendys or one of his great wyrm followers went to dispatch appropriate justice."
The avatar of Falazur is actually the BBEG for my world I also have a white scaled, winged kobold named Gyx who worships Hlal. So the dragon pantheon and kobold lore are VERY dear to my heart
i wonder what a draconic spacecraft would look like dragons are very smart so they would have a advance technology for space travel with very scary warships like battleships with alot of guns on them the draconic empire will rule the galaxy or let it burn
So if you say goodbye to Tiamat and Bahamut, get on a spelljamer, fly to Krynnspace, and say hello to Takhisis and Paladine . . . Do they remember you from when you just said goodbye to them under different names?
@@AJPickett That makes the Dragonlance Age of Mortals, where Takhisis is permanently destroyed and Paladine permanently locked in a low-power avatar form, a bit strange. Takhisis lived in the abyss and was NE in Dragonlance, and I'm pretty sure Krynn shares the same outer planes right? Like someone who goes from Krynn to the Nine Hells or from Toril to the Nine Hells, is it the same nine Hells? Does the Krynn guy just not see Tiamat there because his version of her died? I'm gonna have to hash all this out for something I'm writing . . .
@@Tovish1988 OK so here's my two cents. AJ can correct me as needed. Ok so starting with seeing a god in the Outer Planes. They would probably manifest as their aspect you are most familiar with for the ease of the mortal. They are much more powerful in the outer planes, (my guess is the sum total of all their aspects) but the aspects on each crystal sphere have individual powers and restrictions based on local factors. They are inherently confusing as multiversal beings to be honest, because of things like this. They can be losing a fight on one world and winning a fight elsewhere and they do this across the infinite worlds of the prime material. Edit because i forgot a question. They all share the same outer planes. Except for I believe the feywild and shadowfell as those are reflections of the prime instead of being true outer planes.
@@Tovish1988 Think of the Prime material worlds as "The desert of the real" and the outer planes as the 'Matrix', including the Nine Hells. When going to the outer planes, a mortal is plugging into the matrix and experiencing a reality created from the thoughts and beliefs of all living beings. When the powers (Programs) of the outer planes manifest (project) into the Prime Material (The Real) they are drawing heavily on the belief of the living beings of that local zone of the Prime.
@@Ariemius Correct, they all share the same outer planes (these are collective projections into the astral plane, one step higher into a spectrum of locations based on the ethical and behavioral types of living beings). The Shadowfel and Feywild are Parallel dimensions that bridge this gap in another way. They feywild is more like an outer plane that connects to fairy tales and thus, also connects to planes with similar mythical figures. The shadowfel is a plane of horror and hopelessness, it has a strong association with entropy, undeath and the negative plane, as well as planes like Hades and Pandemonium and the Abyss, so both those parallel planes exist alongside specific prime material worlds, and act a bit like a transitive plane as well.
I've been working on some lore for my world. Made you a God called the Lore Master a wizard who transcended to God Hood through emerging himself in the weave of magic and the pursuit of lore.

I’ve got an idea I think would be awesome. A High Level, dual party campaign that combines aspects of Descent and Rise of Tiamat/Hoard of the Dragon Queen. In which, one party remains on Toril to lead an army in the fight against cultists, mercenary forces, and dragons that are acting as a vanguard for Tiamat’s forces on the Prime, culminating in a battle against Tiamat’s “Battle Body”(as AJ put it) in some ancient location she has an affinity with, while the second party fights their way through Avernus, slaying devils, demons, cultist, and more dragons that are preparing to invade Toril, as they make their way to Tiamat’s Lair, where they must do battle with and slay her actual body. Time it to where the Toril Tiamat Fight ends right as the Avernus Tiamat Fight starts and say that the Toril Party is pulled to Avernus with the part of Tiamat’s power that returns to her when her “Battle Body” is killed. That way you have a both groups there to face the full strength, actual Tiamat in an utterly epic battle. This temporarily removes Tiamat from power(and existence) both on Toril and in Avernus, but she will eventually return due to her having other “vessels” in the multiverse.
Epic indeed, but then again Tiamut is classified as a Lesser power, one rank above a demigod. Meaning you’d be challenging a deitys true power their native realm, if you were to fight her true form on Avernus. And obviously you can decide how difficult that fight should be, but lore-wise it should be 99.9% impossible and she’s literally supposed to be respawned By Divine law/ Ao if anyone besides another deity of equal or greater rank kills her. Although I think there is one Artifact that lets you get around that
@@agentchaos9332 not sure about the artifact. But there's magic that allow gods to absorb other stronger gods, like Vecna did im Die Vecna Die. If he can get a character to become a demigod, and undergo the ritual, the character can absorb her in Avernus.
Would Bahamut bless a mission to help the followers of another good deity in finding a new home? My campaign will have that as a "final mission" which will be Eiliestraee's followers needing one on the surface (out of the underdark) since her mother Lolth will be losing drow followers after separating from my BBEG
@@AJPickett Good to know since it'll be a form cosmic justice for much infighting amongst the drow; Vhaeruun will pretty much the only threat I can think of

Sorry, not sorry lol
Hmmm! OK, its going on the list.
@Airock the Great If that was an 'intended' pun by "Wizards of the Coast" creative team I love it!
Thank you for this info.

I mean you can totally make mtg real in your world and planeswalkers are just people able to move through the phlogiston without the need of spells or spelljammers. Ravnica has been converted. The ur dragon could just be another name of Io.
@@necro6767676
Agreed on the Ur Dragon just being another name for Asgorath/Io.
@@draxthemsklonst yeah that makes sense. Planeswalkers can skip the phlogiston instead of surviving it. I mean sparks and the phlogiston don't mix.

That sounds like fun

@@FathersUnited-fureally annoying comment, just don't respond next time
@SPB___ it's the truth tho 🤷🏿♂️ I do it all the time. What’s the approximate power level difference between an Ancient Dragon and Bahamut and between Bahamut and Azgorath? I’m just trying to wrap my head around how easy it would be for the higher tiers to defeat the lower ones.
I wish someone answered you
Asgaroth is pretty much limitlessly stronger than every dragon
I like the thought of Paladine being bahumts humanoid avatar.
Draco Paladine that is

Love it, AJ. Great job. And thanks for listening our prays. It is very complete and detailed. :)
You can tell Elder Scrolls Skyrim took a lot of ideas from DnD
Dragon lore.
@@ne0nmancer I like when people use each others ideas for stuff. Makes it feel connected in some way or another
Makes sense, Elder scrolls was literally based upon a D&D game the creators played back in the day.

I'm searching for a specific dragon to worship, which is the most powerfull lighting dragon that has ever existed? Probably a bue one?
Is that the one from that novel that was used to gain access to a celestial realm by an infernal power? The one that really has no other reason to exist in the D&D cosmology and that author should be smacked on the nose with a rolled up Lore Book for being naughty?

Yes, thank you. Can you remaster the videos of each Dragon species, both Chromatics and Metallics?
That is the plan
I am interested in the Ptah/Io/Asgorath speculative trinity.
AJ Pickett Question
How low is Bahamut really in the pecking order of the dragon gods (obviously he's not the lowest but still as shown in the video)? is it really massive or is it a simple power gap on a scale that could potentially be tipped in his favor if he takes in a some new portfolios or gains followers? Obviously he cant surpass Io/Asgorath, that's a no brainer.
But how about Lendys Since they only got one other god in between them?
(im going by the order you go on explaining them from 21:00 and onward)
it seems like Lendys and Bahamut tend to step on each others toes (claws?) in terms of justice and discipline.
They'll probably expand on him in the current edition. Wouldn't be surprised if he pops up in Critical Role where he has dragonborn worshippers.
He isn't there brother, as this video points out, and he is kind of overrated IMO. Also, almost all the dragon gods are tiamat's and bahamut's brother and sisters....
Isn't he thier uncle?

So I might just be stupid but isnt Fizbans Treasury of Dragons a book that exists in the D&D multiverse written by Fizban a avatar of Dragonlances version of Bahamut and if I remember correctly every universe has different gods and just because a god exists in 1 universe they might not exist in another and as far as im aware there has never been a single Dragon God besides Bahamut and Tiamat mentioned in Dragonlance so Fizbans calling the other Dragon Gods Greatwyrms isnt a retcon its actually saying they do exist in Dragonlance but they arent yet Gods there
Yep! To keep with canonicity (if you can call it that) with previous editions, I’ve elected to keep any existing, older, dragon pantheons, though I have elevated Bahamut and Tiamat out of respect for both their popularity and importance to certain canons (seriously, they’re lesser deities in older FR!)
The idea that these dragon gods have forms that still exist on worlds where they are not worshipped actually sounds like a really good idea that more closely ties into the creation myth than simply casting them off as non-existent everywhere!
need some stuff on Sardior (gem Dragon Deity) got anything on him coming up?

21:02 Amongst the draconian gods (lesser deities) I couldn’t quite catch it but did you say that one is called “Linda’s”?

Lendys, the dragon god of harsh justice. Not quite lindas
This was informative and entertaining, I loved every second
I find it interesting that nonhumans each have single pantheons, while humans have multiple. Of course, the real-world explanation ('Doylist') is that, historically, we have a great many human pantheons to use as inspiration for the gods of fantasy humans, while nonhuman deities must be created from whole cloth, a decidedly more difficult task. (Occasionally, they can be adapted from real-world beliefs, e.g. Surtur, Thrym, and Tiamat.) Does anyone have a good in-universe ('Watsonian') explanation?
Humans are typically portrayed as the most versatile and varied race. Makes sense it would also apply to their pantheons.
Elves, dwarves, gnomes and halflings are all "humans." They all can interbreed with one another without magical assistance or shenanigans.
So Landus is pretty much the draconic equivalent of the Norse god Tyr?
Yes
veeeeery random thought but since dragons are quite extra-dimensional in nature, is it because of them, (through the pact they have with Githzerai) that the Githzerai themselves became quite extra-dimensional? Or is that purely through the mindflayer exposure? (wanna use the gith a bit in my next campaign
Not at all, the pact with the red dragons was a deal between Tiamat and Vlakith. The Githyanki are just one faction of the Gith species, they are a pan-dimensional, trans-temporal species who no longer have an origin as it gets overwritten when the Mindflayers travelled back in time and essentially created themselves. Whatever the real origin of either species was, the universe that happened in is no longer in existence as anything other than faded echo's in the border ethereal plane.
So if there's a dragon god of justice that activately enforces law and honor, how the hell do evil chromatic dragons even survive?
Draconic law and draconic honor.
@@AJPickett Thank you for answering. By off chance could you please make a video covering draconic laws and honor? Like is a dragon legally allowed to kill another or be a follower of Tiamat? I'm just a little confused at the moment.

Yes! What a great topic.
Holy crud can you even imagine a darconic law firm… im putting that in my game now. Multiversal corporate draconic law-firm.
To answer your question. Lendys was known as the God of Harsh justice. Lendys' brand of justice only dictated dragonkind so evil dragons could still be evil and unless they committed an egregious crime against dragonkind itself Lendys would turn a blind eye
"As arbiter of dragonkind, Lendys served as judge, jury, and executioner. When a dragon committed an injustice against all dragons, Lendys or one of his great wyrm followers went to dispatch appropriate justice."
Great video! Loved that you ended on an image of Takhisis (and Raistlin). Will you be planning on discussing her and Paladine at some point?

i wonder what a draconic spacecraft would look like dragons are very smart so they would have a advance technology for space travel with very scary warships like battleships with alot of guns on them the draconic empire will rule the galaxy or let it burn
So if you say goodbye to Tiamat and Bahamut, get on a spelljamer, fly to Krynnspace, and say hello to Takhisis and Paladine . . . Do they remember you from when you just said goodbye to them under different names?
Yes

That would be epic.
