I was born in '81, so while I mostly was a child of the 90s, I do have vivid memories from the late 80s. I remember certain cars. I remember the dodgers winning the world series in 88. I remember movies like robocop and predator. I remember when the Simpsons came out,, which was super cool because back then cartoons would only air at certain times of the day, usually for a little bit after school and in the morning on weekends. But the Simpsons would come on at night, it was intended for adults, but kids loved it. Of course Nintendo was a big deal.. but my biggest memory was new years eve 1989, I was about 9 by then, I remember it being such a big deal that it was the end of the 80s and start of a new decade

I was born in 81 and the only reason I could remember the clothes, music, hair of the mid 80s and that's only because my sister was born in 70 ....Now the late 80s I can distinctly remember because all of the freestyle & rap music had set in to just about every household I can remember seeing The Labyrinth on a theater screen, the pilot episode of Married with Children, being in 2nd grade and having to watch TV and take notes on Reagan/Bush doing their speeches , Simpsons pilot December 1989,Watching them tear down the Berlin Wall on the News,Americas Most Wanted, The Earthquake in S.F. that took over all of our TV channels , Jeffrey Dahmer getting busted,

Los Angeles in the 80's was Showtime. Magic ran that city. Janet and Michael owned the radio and then...came...NWA. Holy sheezit when NWA hit the airwaves and MTV and the nightly news the game changed forever. LA's daily murder report was also off the charts. The Bloods and Crips and the wonderful new drug called Crack decimiated LA in the 80's. All a precursor to the explosion after Rodney King in the early 90's. Hollywood Blvd was a bad place to be for most of that decade. Anyway, I lived in LA and left - thankfully. But it sure was (and is) and interesting place.

I think they mean that as far as looking back on childhood. I was a kid in San Bernardino back in the 80s and I look back at it as the ideal childhood for boys (lots of outdoors bike riding, exploring the ditches and tunnels, etc. )I've been back since then and its a hell hole. My old best friends mother tells me things about the city back then (such as crime, etc.) I didn't know as a child since all I cared about was playing with my friends (outside and Nintendo).

Had a great childhood, neighbours got together for BBQ and beer, we played together, there was no internet, people were more socialised.
As kids we did not worry about everything, about terrorism, extremists, about destroying our planet, did not worry about politics, wars, etc.
The closest we got to war was GI Joe vs Cobra.. great TV shows, fantastic music, movies, AFV.
Life was different and even that was the last decade of the Cold War, we felt actually safer than nowadays...

    • @agonzalez8924

Idk man.. I was kid in the 80s too. I think in all honesty we mainly remember a time in our lives where as kids we were worry free and didn't have to worry about the problems of the world. All the problems of today existed then too though. I'm sure there were adults that lived paranoid everyday worried they would be nuked by the soviet union at any moment. There were acts of terrorism all the time, assassinations of politicians, even an attempt on a sitting president (look up Reagan assassination attempt video), high crime and pollution.
The world is not any crazier today than it was then is what I'm getting at. I think if we can learn anything from childhood and the past is, be aware of the dangers out there, but just try to live your best life and try to enjoy it as much as you did when you were a kid

1988 was an incredible time to be alive. It was just before everything went to shit. People had a spark of life in their eyes you don't see today. Music was alive! Musicians really could play their instruments. People went to outdoor concerts in great numbers, not to ogle the performers but to hear great music. Everything was bustling with originality. People dreamed of flying cars and hoverboards and a Jetsons-like world by 2015, which never happened, not even close. In 1988 there weren't chemtrails being sprayed in the sky. There was no such thing as genetically modified food. You could actually drink out of public water fountains and not get sick. You could drive anywhere, park anywhere, have a beer anywhere, smoke anywhere. Men were men. Women were women. Autism was so rare it was unheard of. I want the world of the 80s back. So bad.

Even right down to hour and minute we are born so we are born under a certain energy frequency so we can have certain personality and have certain spiritual lessons to learn. Just look at your astrology natal chart. Maybe your soul had a purpose to be born in 2002. Just like I had a purpose to be born in 1982.
