Back just to say, it's actually really useful to us making Opus as well, just to see someone using it, especially trying new features that aren't familiar yet. Helps us spot little things we could improve to make things easier to pick up or nicer to use. So "yes please, more videos!" goes for me as well. :)

I LOVED DOpus on the Amiga! I still have the original software and manual guessing it was about 90 or 91. I just purchased 13. I look forward to using it as I'm in the middle of going through old hard drives to make one big master backup of all my decades of projects.
So amazing. I'm using a 4k monitor and all I want/wanted is a way to increase thumbnail sizes because of Windows size restriction. Now I'm looking at doing a complete overhaul with Opus. I have 200tb's on my NAS for my Media server I'm always adding and transferring files to a dozen external backup drives and the queue function would be worth it's weight in gold.
I enjoyed the video and learned a few things even after owning Opus since version 9. They are doing a great job with this application and I like these modernization. If your up to it, I would like to learn more about customizing directories for various media types. I have a fairly large music collection, movies, audiobooks, ebooks, comicbooks, and home videos. It would be nice to be able to organize them more effectively and view the important metadata attributes for the various media files. I've been playing around with folder options, but I'm not satisfied with all the view changes. Help here would be awesome.

Well... I've been using a purchased directory opus 10 for about 14 years. It already has more features than I need. It has been invaluable for my daily workflow, but I don't see any need to upgrade.
I do not make best use of DOPUS because I cannot devote the time needed for such an awesome tool and because it is so powerful which is kind of overwhelming so the more tutorials the better PLEASE!
@@DarkuniIs DOPUS 13 similar enough to DOPUS 12 that if I follow a beginners setup guide for DOPUS 12, it will transfer to DOPUS 13? If not, do you know of a link to a guide for complete newbs? Or can you film a video? Thanks, m8.
for files displayed, is there a way to add in your own labels, personal rating collumn or or custom metadata that then can be sorted? eg artwork image that i need to label for subject, colour, themes (mulitple) and personal rating
File collisions - on copying photos that've been converted in size with same names and type i.e.moon.jpg 22 mb, to 1 mb, how do I select for the smaller type to overwrite the larger type? Queue copy - my preference is to view the graphical progress, over the queue tab. I'm used to queue copy from DO12. How do I make the progress window the default? Column pivot is very good. You would PROBABLY have to write your own copy job for that. Could be done, though. Collisions have limited parameters. I saw an option in preferences for the queue - I'd start there. I doubt there is anything in File Renamer Pro that Dopus doesn't already do. Renaming MP3s, too. Tagging? Maybe a bit out of scope for Dopus? I doubt we'll ever see anything related to MKV manipulation in here - but remember; you can shell out and do ANYTHING you want via a command line call...

@@ozmozis6073 There is a Utility Panel called Synchronize. It offers a lot of options for copying files from one location to another - including how to dictate a size collision.
does anyone know how to integrate TeraCopy into DOpus 13? yes, there are instructions for DOpus 12. For DOpus 13 I have not found anything yet. Can anyone help?
I am not familiar with TeraCopy. I would hop on over to their discussion forums. Great, helpful people over there (and there may already be a solution).

Everything (the tool) is what makes windows a better environment than Linux. Nothing Linux have comes close.
Have you tried Listary? I would legitimately say it is better than Everything. I love and use them both, but you're 100% right. Dopus, Everything/Listary keep me locked into Windows.
Depends on when you bought it. There IS an upgrade path for previous owners. At worst, you'll get a discount I imagine. I'm working on getting an affiliate code too.

Buyer beware! I picked up DO 12 in November 2022 after your video and from a BF deal. They just released version 13 and want more to upgrade than I paid for the original version. I feel scammed. I would have never paid $30 for a file manager had I known that upgrades coming would be more in cost and especially since the upgrade came in a little over a year after I picked it up.👎
I understand the frustration. Most software has a 1 year upgrade cycle. Opus has like 5-7 years between major versions with free upgrades the entire time. That's some good value. Plus your license is perpetual - so v12 will work forever. Not much software does that anymore, either. Sorry it didn't work out for you.
@@Darkuni Not a knock on you,,,you have great content. The rub is I am not getting updates (security/bug fixes) either unless I "subscribe". I've only had the program for a little over a year. No worries though.......live and learn....🙂
@@BillCClinton I'm not 100% sure that's true. I seem to recall still getting critical upgrades to the "last" major build point. Let me do a bit of digging.
@@Darkuni From the Dev.....(If the subscription / maintenance expires after one or two years, depending on what you have purchased, then you can continue to use the program forever but you will not be entitled to any updates)
@@BillCClinton Yeah, that still reads a bit ambiguous. Is that MINOR updates? MAJOR updates? I am 99.9% sure that when Win 10 came out, the previous version of Dopus had some critical issue with it - they fixed it and delivered it for free. I'm getting someone on the team to assist in clarification.

They're filler words. We Americans absolutely love filler words. I also probably shot this in one take with no script. When you do that? Filler words get in there. Try to push through because I have a lot of good information in here. It's okay if you don't. I'm that way with the word like. People love to stuff like and phrases and sentences.

Just upgraded today, been using Directory Opus since the Amiga days, it is simply unbeatable!

I happily upgraded to Opus 13. No regrets. Best file manager in the world!

Same here, I remember DOpus from 90's Amiga times, then it was some copy on floppy from someone, finally i can pay for good software :)

I used to have different colored listers for different folders. I can't make that work anymore, There seem to be font customs, but no more color.
Some things have definitely moved around. Been a long time since I dinked with that ... let me check it out.

You can't add CUSTOM fields, but yes - TAGS, COMMENTS, RATING .. all th at is there. You're probably looking for TAGS. i.imgur.com/4d8bv9D.png
