@@GRichfamgfam I love John music my idol my ultimate idle. I know he recorded over 1000 tracks I have about 900 of them and I think I only Gregory and Dennis make more anyway sorry for waffling 🥱🇬🇧👍
Ken Booth vocal over Dennis Brown for me always forever. I heard them crown D Brown crown Prince, 🤔🤔. No not in my book Ken got much better vocal and it get more mature as he get older. D Brown vocal broke and he was not hitting his notes properly. I think Freddie Mcgregor, Ken Booth, Beres Hammond along with Bunny Rug of Third World was much better vocalist than Dennis Brown. Performance and charisma that is D Brown all the way that is why he is the crown Prince.
But did you know sir none of them sold like John Holt in the 70s he was the first reggae singer to sell a million . I do like Ken Boothe but in my opinion is not as good as Dennis brown but I will not argue that Freddie McGregor is in the same League . And as for beres Hammond to me is the second greatest singer of time in all of music 🇬🇧👍
@@pauleveritt7176 for sure John Holt was riding high with success in England and Europe. Holt still is popular than all but not as Gregory Isaacs. Mcgregor out live and pass the success of D Brown in England and Europe long time. D Brown is known yes but he never reach the success not even like Sugar Minott. I don't know what was the reason but D Brown never gain the respect. I saw D Brown rock Reggae Sun splash in 89 and the Big Ship show at Denbigh Clarendon. D Brown very good but he should have been bigger name artist in my opinion.
@@socialdistance.forever4744 true but my friend you can't say it wasn't as popular as Freddie McGregor in England because he was bigger than Freddie McGregor in England not too sure about Jamaica has John can't run into semi-retirement and did not put as much output but anyway they are all great. I remember just hearing John Holt playing in a record shop when I was 13 years old as I was in there looking for acid house album . Butwhen I began to sing I was a bit shocked I've never heard nobody sing a sweet as that before. Play music to my family and they love John to . Before that none of us I've never really listen to reggae before . We become known as the reggae ghosts just a joke for the locals because we was white people . Anyway my friend take it easy .... What a sensational talent this guy has. It has an emotional response in me, and Im in my 60s.
Ken's nephew was a good friend of mine. Sadly he was killed in a car crash at a relatively young age. Derek Manning RIP.
Ken Booth is an absolute legend if you grew up in the Ska Rocksteady and Early Reggae of Jamaican music.
