I love the fact that you started out the video with the cost. No other Diy channel is doing that. That's awesome. I hate watching diy videos and getting excited to do a project but finding out it would be way more expensive to diy it then to just buy it.

This is a valuable addition to my woodwork collection th-cam.com/users/postUgkxkNYRBJuiJ6EwD-tQSAlxg0eFKsnR2cgz I still will rate this woodwork plan as the best in my reference library. It always seem to stand out from the rest whenever you go through the library. This is a masterpiece.

Just made my own version of this sofa and it was super rewarding. Didn’t use pocket holes but I hid all my screws with dowels. Came out pretty nice. Thanks for the video!

As someone who sells patio furniture that is ludicrously expensive, kudos lol. Even if it doesn't 'last as long' with the wood you used you can make this at least 10 times before you reach the cost of pre-built teak.

  • @codacreator6162

Your videos are better than most because you a) talk through the details of the steps and so it's easier to recall and to understand, but more importantly, b) you talk about alternatives and WHY you choose the options you do and the potential pitfalls. That alone is worth the price of admission. That's the stuff that comes from experience and helps guys like me who have none learn without committing ridiculous resources to screwing up to learn what we're doing. Thank you! (FYI "o" in cushion goes after the other vowel, "i"). Keep up the great work!

Great and easy build! If you could go back and redo this build, would you have put your backrest at a slightly reclined angle, or is the 90-degree angle comfortable enough to stay on?

So I just finished building this because of your vid..I stained the back rest and seat frame with Early American..painted the side supports Espresso Brown, wrapped the arm rests with hemp rope and put some dark brick red cushions on it. OMG does this thing look amazing and the building materials were unbelievably cheap! People can't believe I paid under $40 for this (Not Including Cushions).

Another great tip for cutting the rope. As you did apply electrical tape on the neck of your cut. Cut it with an knife or sharp scissors and heat up with the torch (or lighter) on the cut side. It’s faster and get you same smooth result. 😉

Really nice. Mine was a simpler build just with screws. I bought Allen Roth cushions during some clearance at lowes. Ended up only spending 40 dollars for the cushions (6 per couch) instead of the original 160 dollars. I used Olympic Stain (leftover from the fence) and like 5-6 coats. The wood wasn't even pressure treated and it stays outside 24/7 getting beaten by sun and snow and rain. Couch still looks new even though it was sitting on grass for the past 5-6 years.

In my opinion that no one asked for, colour wise it might’ve looked better with white rope on arms or something like cane or jute coloured rope for a more earthy tone since the wood is bare/white wash /natural looking and cushions are light and neutral. The black looks like the arm got broken and you fixed it rope from garage
I do see how the blacks useful for staining from arms and hands being rested on it
Regardless it looks awesome. Video is very good too, cost effective and cost transparent, detailed and simple to follow.
