Technically his skill is extremely powerful as both a support and a recruitment skill. He can buff allies before a fight and draw powerful monsters and creatures to his side with both the taste and benefits of his foods and cooking skills. Tactically he hit the jackpot and just him getting Fenrir right at the start was just proof of how effective his skill really was. ;3
Fenrir isn't his companion, its closer to the opposite. Its a symbiotic relationship, one doesn't rely on the other for everything. They both need eachother, since the chef's food has extremely potent magical capabilities and fenrir is naturally incredibly strong.
