Wow! What a difference this will make to an otherwise unpleasant part of the west island! Very excited to see this get developed over the years. I have one question/concern though. While the promenade will be great for residents accessing local businesses within the development, I don’t see it being a viable means of active transportation for daily commuting. A mixed use pathway would mean lower speeds for bikes and scooters in order to avoid conflict with pedestrians and won’t be practical for people who want to access the REM, for example, using these methods of transportation. Are there plans for including a dedicated bike lane along saint-charles? Are faster-moving cyclists going to be expected to share the bus lane? Or are alternative routes going to be developed in parallel? It seems a shame to not include dedicated bike infrastructure for daily commuting in a plan that will affect the city for generations.
