Soda Cracker Pie is a vintage recipe during the depression era , in the South it is also known as make do pie or desperation pie , even having very little it’s nice they could figure out how to make desserts

Cooking Equipment:

Recipe:
3 egg whites plus 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 cup sugar
12 crushed crackers
1 cup nuts
1 tsp vanilla
Butter
Garnishes: whipped cream
Strawberries (optional)
Preheat oven to 375°
Best egg whites until stiff . Add sugar gradually until stiff. Add crushed crackers, nuts and vanilla
Bake for 20 minutes in a buttered pyrex pie plate
Garnish as desired

I've never heard of this or using soda crackers as the crust. Interesting. The green screen is cute. In the depression era they came up with some interesting dishes with what they had to eat at that time.

I’ve made water pie and vinegar pie , both depression pies , I made them before I had my channel so I may make them again but this was delicious

@@cookingwithsherry I've seen water pie but not heard of vinegar pie. I used to watch a Depression cooking channel but she passed away at 99 years old and her Grandson stopped adding her videos to her channel. Her name was Clara.
