First Impressions on Chubby Frogs! Do they make Good Pets?

- Should you get an Asian painted bullfrog? Here are my thoughts on this weird species after owning one for about half a year! They're quite similar to Pacman frogs when it comes to husbandry and lifestyle, but they're seen much less frequently in the trade, and obviously look pretty different shape and color-wise. What are your thoughts on them? Let me know in the comments~

You should get a literal potato and name it frog, keep it in its own little vivarium and feed it soil. You would then have a frog called potato and a potato called frog, the circle would be complete

another small thing is that he really didn't say anything awful about brian, just commented in a funny way that him publicizing his entire mourning period over a beloved pet is a little bizarre. i know everyone grieves differently, but it still just reads as weird to me since i'm the type of person who would rather grieve on my own terms - it really wasn't the worst thing that could be said about brian considering how much more other people have said
The sensationalism and exploitation of animals, depressingly weak husbandry standards and being incapable of absorbing an ounce of criticism without calling them a hater isn't exactly the type of person in the community I'd openly support. Whoops I guess I was a dick again, I forgot that having under a million subscribers and fewer years of experience translates to my opinion being meaningless.
My husband and I have 2 chubby frogs. They were co-habbed at the time so we decided to continue to co-hab them. They are both almost exactly the same size and we have had no problems. They are in a 10 gallon tank currently but we plan to move them into a 20 gallon soon because we decided to give them a small pond, unlike in the Pacman enclosure and ours LOVE their pond. They use it regularly.

PS: How would you notice that a chubby frog gets overweight or underweight ?
fat= underweight obese= normal weight morbidly obese= overweight
Idk about chubby frogs but with whites tree frogs when they get obese they get all melty and fat droops over their eyes and ears. You'd be able to tell if frogs are underweight

I have 2, I legit never see them, their names are chub and glub, I have a really nice set up for them, but they are always burrowed. I never see them out of the fiber or even sitting on top of it or in their little pond. I guess maybe they do while I'm sleeping. I only see them when I have to spend an hour looking for them to feed them lol. Their croak is hysterical. I do love my chubby frogs I literally never see though :)

I’d say it varies from sub-species to sub-species.
E.g. if you pit one long milky boi with one thicc tree boi, then the long boi is gonna win every time.
But if the thicc boi is also a pac-boi, then the thicc boi would stand a better chance do do to his *big mouth*.
If you got a long ball boi and a thicc bubble boi, they’re just gonna sit there and binge-watch “breaking game of cards” for the 11th time.

I was these little guys all over the place while in Asia, so cute! I worked on a farm for a bit and had one living in my bathroom, doing some much needed roach control. I also saw one being eaten by a monitor lizard which was kind of horrifying. And fascinating. I took plenty of pictures 😂

Why do I feel like this frog resembles me?
I have had Alfonso (My Chubby Frog) for a year now and mine is quite a bit more active than potato, probably because he is in better shape that potato. But they have quite a bit of personality that varies from frog to frog. and I've realized that he loves to dig absolutely everywhere which makes things quite messy, but he seems to not mess with his plants, so they've grown quite well.

3:39 Lol my gulf coast toad Bambous walks the same exact way. He doesn’t do much either, just sits around, usually in his log but other times outside of it.
In the wild, the banded bullfrog primarily eats ants and termites. It also feeds on other small invertebrates including flies, crickets, moths, grasshoppers, and earthworms. Its relatively small head and mouth mostly limit its diet to small and slow-moving prey

i live in asia, i have a lot of these frogs, i catch them after heavy rain in a place with lots of trees, feed them small worms

I probably sound like a weirdo, but I love potato's feet. Frog and gecko feet are so cool. I also enjoy how chill you sound in all of your videos. It's really calming.

I live in Vietnam, every time it rains in the afternoon or evening, I go to the street to look at the edge of the grass or in humid places, I will find bullfrogs, I have caught a lot, there are two types of yellow and black, Yellow is quite common and black is only found in coastal areas

Just bought the chubby frog that I've been caring for at my pet store for like 2 months now lol. Similar situation, my tomato frog died and I had a brand new bioactive kit, so i brought this guy home. My lil frog likes crickets, superworms, wax worms basically if it fits in his lil mouth he'll gladly eat it. oddly enough he likes to climb around a bit (which i've heard they do in nature.) theyre fun lil dudes

I just got one from Petco, he was 50% off and the lady said he had been there a long time. I kind of felt bad cause when she was getting him out of there (10 gallon tank) she had said “I’m glad you’re getting go to a home, don’t wanna to spend your entire life in this little box- and I have it in a 5.5 gallon 😭

I hate to say it but Potatoe is probably wild caught which means he maybe use to certain kinds of prey, most likely ants or small hopper insects. So crickets might be his go to as food, that or young red runners. As for the communal thing, I have kept 3 young ones together and they didn't show signs of stress or aggression, same temperament as American tree frogs.
