    Since going Vegan 8 months ago, I have dramatically improved my gut microbiome and my inflammation markers have dropped in half! My lupus is in remission, I've lost 40 more pounds and have plenty of energy! I'm going back to school to be a health and wellness coach as we speak. Thank you Chuck, Dr B, and PCRM 💖

      Then you have a carnivore who says exactly the same, when they go meat only. Any diet where you restrict a food group will put your body in a fasting state. This is we’re the benefit comes from not the food group.

    • @11235Aodh
      @11235Aodh ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@anthonymotture Not true that you always end up in a fasting state, it's entirely possible and advised to eat your calories worth in starches, fruit and vegetables. This will not trigger any fasting state as all nutritional needs are met (supplement B12 of course, or get your hands on a prime source of duckweed). The opposite is true because a 100% carnivore diet will lack a lot, like fibre, folate, potassium, magnesium, vitamin c to name a few.

    Can you please talk about IBS in people who follow a clean WFPB lifestyle? It is an irritant and uncomfortable and I cannot pinpoint the reason or the food. Some weeks I am very regular, other weeks I barely poo. I don't eat junk or treats or processed foods (apart from the odd falafel/hummus combo). I am also quite low on energy and for the past few months I don't sleep well or for very long. Incidentally, I have increased the starches but the pooping situation has not improved and I currently have a very big belly although I'm slim and not feeling comfortable about wearing jeans/fitted clothes, or going out. I feel fat even though I know it's just all the food in my gut. I'd appreciate your advice as I know I'm not the only one and I did used to poop regular as clock and I don't think my diet has changed in any way. I eat lots of plants, anything the food bank gives me I am super grateful for. Thank you and best wishes to Dr B, Chuck and all the community, you're amazing and so supportive.

      Some people that I know who have IBS do better on a diet that is mostly soluble fiber versus insoluble fiber, say for example at least 75% of fiber being soluble. Sometimes gas trapped in the gut slows things from moving along so some people use herbal teas for that .

Some magic could be I believe in mom and or grandma, but maybe if you are heavy meat eater whole day and in sickness you switch to broth only, maybe it's alredy better than to eat huge amounts of meat instead. Maybe your body already gets some relief and in some cases it's helping to get better. Just my guess 😊

    The city with the highrst longevity consumes the highest amount of red meat.

    • @Khatru-qk8po
      @Khatru-qk8po ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It could be the case that this hefty consumption of red meat is recent. It is likely that most of the elderly people ate poorer, less meat-rich diets for most of their lives. Or, other factors like cleanliness or public services are driving the life expectancy up.
      I'm assuming you mean Hong Kong. The traditional Cantonese diet, generally, is high in white rice, vegetables, and meat or tofu sliced thinly in a stir fry or a steamed dish. Steamed food does not burn it; burnt meats have carcinogens. Stir fries are quick and heat up the food without the prolonged heat exposure to food like grilling. It's not always about what you eat, it's how you make it.
      I love meat. I'm eating ground beef right now because I'm iron deficient. I cooked it in the oven and am eating it with pasta and tomato sauce. The vitamin C in the tomatoes will both negate any carcinogenic effects and make the iron more absorbable.

    • @jamesherried9269
      @jamesherried9269 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The elderly people in Hong Kong grew up eating a largely plant-based diet. The prevalence of red meat in the diets in Hong Kong is a relatively recent phenomenon, which occurred as a result of Hong Kong becoming more affluent. So it's predominantly the younger people in Hong Kong who eat the most red meat. And the younger people don't account for the long life expectancy in Hong Kong.
