    Great job John! Really enjoyed this one. learning a little about Photoshop. The results look awesome and it wasn't really that hard . I appreciate the time you took to explain how it's done. That's what I like about your channel. If you are working on something, no matter what it is, you share it with us real time. That's the difference and don't ever change that aspect of your channel. Thanks again and keep up the videos. See ya next time...

    This video was an instructive look at a different but important aspect of the hobby. Mr Do's mame artwork page has an I Robot artwork zip file with the instruction sticker already cleaned up, although it is not quite to scale, (13.333 in x 4.390 in) and the red is shown as magenta. Might be another resource to check. Great video John.

    Hey John, Just wanted to let you know how much I really appreciate all the time and effort you put into your videos to keep us entertained, and I think I can speak for everyone when I say that. We all appreciate your a family man and got a full time job so time is precious. Just echoing googleboughtmee's comment really, you dont need capture cards these days to record your desktop. You can also include pictures that fans send you save you holding the paper to the camera. I subscribe to many channels on you tube and yours is the one i look forward too like a favourite soap on TV. Love you loads buddy, dont stop doing what you are doing because you will genuinely be missed. I know it must be kinda strange letting people from all over the world into you home once a week and getting comments from people you will probably never meet. You seem like a genuine guy and the sort of person we would all love to hang out with and have a beer. You friends are lucky to have you in their lives. Take care Bro.

    For your garbage cans, get any can you like that fits your style and then spray the inside with a hydrophobic spray like NeverWet. May need multiple layers especially at the bottom of the can, but don't breath that stuff in. This makes the cans very easy to clean out and you can have some nice looking garbage cans and not have to worry about them getting ruined by what you throw in them. ;)

    In the years gone by, I've had a few occasions to do some clean up jobs. Via M$ Paint. It's almost bringing tears to my eye on seeing the power of the computer operating like it should with this type of software. Easy; like it should.

    Hey John if you don't mind fiddling with manual focus mode on your camera you can mostly eliminate the moire patterns (wavy / swirly lines) seen when shooting video of gameplay from these arcade monitors, not a huge deal just something I learned from trial & error over the years.

  • @MaximRecoil
    @MaximRecoil 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    When you resized your image, you should have unchecked the "resample" box. Then, when you changed the width to 15.25", you would have seen the DPI automatically go to 297.574. That's because it was originally scanned in at 300 DPI, and it would have gone back exactly to 300 DPI if not for the cropping that you did (but there's no meaningful difference between 297.574 and 300 DPI anyway). When you uncheck the "resample" box, you can change the print size / DPI (those two become tied together like a seesaw when you're not resampling) without altering the image in any way, because the only thing you're doing is changing the instructions that your output device (printer) will follow.
    The main reason that resampling exists is for images intended to be strictly displayed on computer screens, such as web images. That's because everyone's standard screen DPI (PPI actually) is the same (72), so the only way you can make it bigger relative to people's screens is to resample it, which inevitably results in loss. When resizing for printing, always disable resampling, because it is entirely unnecessary and it does nothing but introduce loss. Also keep in mind that there's nothing magical about 300 DPI, so you can type in the exact size you want without worrying about having it be exactly 300 DPI. You want about 300 DPI as a minimum, but e.g., 328.867 DPI or whatever is just as good (slightly better actually), or 297.574 is close enough.

    • @Johnsarcade
      @Johnsarcade  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Sleez Burger I knew what I could get away with. And, I did. What I did worked fine and there is nothing about my print out that looks low-res. My upscaling is undetectable and really trivial. Lowering the DPI would have been the same net result. I also said scaling up images is a big no-no - I agree. However, I didn't scale a one inch image to 12 inches. I only scaled it up about 0.1". No big deal. You can usually get away with a little, and I did, and I knew I would. I have a ton of real world experience going to print (offset) and for almost 20 years. At the end of the day, the proof is in the pudding. And, my pudding is good.
