    Wow! You have educated me on so much! My son is 4 and does 2 days a week in the special needs classroom and has an IEP but I had no clue what to discuss or request. He will be entering Kindergarten next school term and I want to be sure he gets everything he may need to set him up for success. I was so lost as to what things I could ask for and your video truly mapped it out clearly and respectfully. Thank you 1 million times because this truly gives me an outline of how I need to present what my son needs to the team and what things I need to stand my ground on for him. I’m so glad I found your page and I’m so looking forward to seeing more from this platform.

    Thank you for sharing this information. It’s been stressful trying to gather information for our first iep but you have given me confidence to request what I feel my daughter will need. Thank you.

    My son is in 1st grade now they moved him this year to the special ed classroom from Gen Ed. When I asked about the aide they did give the classic “we want to be least restrictive reason” he was really behind in his reading and writing and math. So we moved him to the special ed classroom with the hopes of catching him up because the classroom was moving to fast. My concern is that the special ed classroom has some students with high levels of need compared and I’m afraid that he won’t be on track to graduate with a high school diploma. I’m not sure if this is the right choice

    I need help! You answered the question about ABA and BCBA's. My district has no BCBA's on staff and no RBTs. They also tell parents that they don't provide 1:1s. I need an RBT or a trained ABA therapist (I don't care if they have a cert) written in. How do I get it in?

      Your school has legal obligation to provide a Free Appropriate Public Education to your child. They are entitled to this in the Least Restrictive Environment is which they can access the curriculum with SUPPORTS. Take a look at the LRE page of your child's IEP. It is where they have to say they have considered options and ruled them out. Your school can tell you they don't do 1:1 aides, but that is illegal. See what excuse they give on the LRE page and challenge them on it. What state are you in? I would call the Department of Education in your state and I would seek help from www.parentcenterhub.org/find-your-center/

    My son is on a IEP he is autistic and has ADD I asked for a aide and was told no because they are more for “ severe” cases

    • @AutismLive
      @AutismLive  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      IDEA states that your child is entitled to a Free Appropriate Public Education in the Least Restrictive Environment where they can be successful with proper supports. That is the law. When a school says, "There are more severe kids." it is an Illegal response. As them to respond to your request for a 1:1 aide in writing. They will come up with some other excuse in writing because they know they can't say that. Then you fight whatever it is they say. But other kids being more severe has NOTHING to do with your child.

      Do I ask for seat accommodations and longer time testing now?
      It does feel weird doing this in preschool. Ty!

    I need help. No matter what I do no one will help me. My son had a stroke when he was four. Because of his learning difficulties has constantly been abused at school. He has had binders thrown at his head, refused his inhaler and ended up in the hospital because the nurse at school said he was faking it. Please please please help me. Please

    • @QwertyS3
      @QwertyS3 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nasty, how is a child faking when he was sent to the HOSPITAL because he's "Faking" people usually accuse a disabled person of faking as an excuse to oppress and bully real disabled people, I've seen this time and time again it's pure ableism disguised as an act of righteousness. I suggest you sue the school district this is ridiculous as long as you kid has a DIAGNOSIS that can't be faked he should be getting special education help

      This makes me so furious. I agree with the answer above, you need to take serious action against the school district. Seek legal help immediately this is unethical.

    How long should my child be in school before the school can accurately assess and create a IEP that protects the what ifs rather than having to add stuff in later and fight

      @@AutismLive My ten-year-old twins have diagnoses but they still make my child with ASD play dodgeball during PE and lower the grades of my child with ADHD for drawing in the margins of his work. It's not just another country, it's an alternate universe! Thanks for all you do.

    I have an important question., what if your child’s child study team counselor is rude and disrespectful to you ( the parent) can I ask to have the cst counselor changed ??

    • @AutismLive
      @AutismLive  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Great question! I would start by always requesting to record the meeting and then noting the time code when they are rude and disrespectful, then I would email the principal and the head of special ed with a nice note saying something along the lines of "I expect for us all to remain professional during IEP meetings. I would like to call your attention to time code 4:53 during the IEP when the study team counselor can clearly be heard engaging is rude and disrespectful speech. It is my expectation that this will not happen again and or that we will be assigned a new team counselor. I appreciate your professionalism in handling this matter and insuring that this individual is not speaking and behaving in this manner with my child."

      I have a IEP teacher for my son she is rude. She’s been trying to put him in a different school even the first day of school she got in trouble for it. A month and a half later. I did a IEP amendment today and she still is trying to get him into a different school but her supervisor told her to be quiet in the IEP meeting. She tried for him not to go there, but the school is in his IEP. But every time I amend it she has a really bad attitude, real nasty and I’m to the point. I’m gonna go to the school board. I don’t know what else to do. She still trying to get him out of the school. Why idk ? I’m lost cause my child has to deal with her . I’m scared she might do something to him . Idk why she don’t like my child. I’m lost
