I remember when they cleared out The Silver Slipper and other smaller hotels to make way for The Mirage. And when it opened EVERYONE was in awe. The Hard Rock will really have to be spectacular to take the place of The Mirage.

The Mirage held so many memories,for so many. The concept of a tropical theme hotel in the desert was nothing short of genius. The pool was beautiful!
We were just there on Saturday. Mother daughter trip from Canada. Very sad it won’t be there anymore. My daughter said it was her favourite place, comfortable, not glandular like the hotels around it. Ruby, what is going to happen to all those beautiful plants…
Thanks Ruby's. Miss the Mirage. I love the water and tropical theming. I notice the Hard Rock in Hollywood Florida has a huge lagoon around the guitar hotel. Hopefully Hard Rock Vegas will be more epic.

I am bummed when we were there in April we never made it over there. I will miss the tropical feel of the inside.
So my friend has worked at Mirage for over 20yrs I asked her why is she going to work the last day she said for her pension. Her and the cocktail waitresses literally hid in the back they weren't serving. Now the staff all need jobs my bff got lucky and got a job at Ahern hotel. Sad the Mirage is closing I dunno why? The Tropicana yes place was old no one will miss

Ruby, our oldest daughter lives there. She would make your twin. We watch your program all the time. Lived in Las Vegas from 1960-1975! Graduated from the old Rancho High School and my wife of 54 years graduated from Valley High School in 1970.
We moved back to my home State of Texas in 1975. We were there in Vegas in 2012. Wow, what a change!

When Mirage first opened with the volcano it was a big thing, but watching today many years later is was very underwhelming. Who needs fire and heat in Vegas when it is already 110 degrees. Thanks for the video.
