I packed a fishtank completely full of water balls (water beads, water balz, orbeez, spitballs...). Im guessing there are over 10,000 in there!
Anyway, I melted a bunch of old aluminum pipes and poured them into the fishtank hoping to create a cool design. And it worked perfectly! These are really unique, no two pieces are alike.
Vat 19 was nice enough to supply me with the spitballs to use in this video :) www.vat19.com/item/spitballs-...
They are also posting a version of this on their youtube channel, which I will link to soon when its posted.

Thank you Tito4re for the inspiration!
I was watching a video by "Tito4re" where he poured molten copper on waterballs, and that inspired me to fill my fishtank with them, so go visit his channel, it would help him out :)

Harry Coatsworth that is theoretically plausible
That is modern art you should sell it or admire it
1:46 I would TOTALLY buy something like that. Would make a beautiful decoration! 😍
Could probably make specific forms of you can figure out how to make molds for it. Make a miniature statue or house model.
I was gonna say, I had a sculpture teacher in art school who would die over these.
That's what anthill art is for
Id buy it
You can sell those. They do look like coral. Those beads are very cool. You're as bad as me when I work. I wear flip flops, shorts and a tank top. If any of that molten aluminum ever splashed you, you would be scarred for life. Really pays to wear something protective when working with molten metal.
I agree. I was working with molten metal once and a single drop got on my foot. Hurt like hell and still have the scar. Now im teaching my son to be safer when in the garage working on things 😄
Wait so if you can sell them then where do you buy them?
I sub to. U
Honestly I would 100% buy one of those, they look like cool modern coral pieces!
How would you pay
I think with money?
@@Berm_Blasterprobably with money
Your name is Kevin right.
They look like those sculptures that come out when folks pour aluminum into ant piles.
Yeah, but with much less death.
@@2MeterLP Hypocrite much? Everything you consume is from deaths, from poultry to vaccines.
@@everretwavince1843 I know. But those are meaningful deaths. We honor them at least a little by using every part we can. Pouring molten metal into the home of thousands of creatures just to get an object of questionable beauty is wasting the life of animals.
@@2MeterLP it's typically not for the 'art' of it. Usually the people who do it are exterminators getting rid of invasive species of ants. The metal is an effective way of doing that, that isn't bad for other creatures (like using poisons would be, for example.) The metal that they dig out just happens to be interesting to look at afterwards.
I have no stake in the debate on if it's the best method, I just happened to be recommended a couple videos on the process in the past.
Brandon W. oh, I didnt know that, thanks for the info

What would happen if you accidentally ate some water beads? Would they expand in your stomach?
+Deathbrewer hmm I don't think they would expand by the time you poop them out! You probably have to eat whole bunch for it to be a problem
TheBackyardScientist well your stomach has hydrochloric acid in it so it'll probably break down the water beads instead
Deathbrewer your stomach acid would probably dissolve them anyways.
I am going to say yes, and for a reason. these water beads are common for using for water for insect feeders. there is also a flake version, same stuff different shape. Anyway the flakes have been known to stock to the insects, and then eaten by a reptile or insector pet. which has led to death of many pets in the past. Also these are a polymer plastic material your stomach acid will not dissolve them. As to excreting them prior to absorbing, I doubt it but am not schooled enough in human biology to know for sure.
it would likely take a whole lot to hurt a person. But again they have killed animals.

dude that looks awesome
How about pouring sulfuric acid into oobleck??
+TheBackyardScientist Where did you got the green fish and the jellyfish?!!!?!?!?!?!?!
+TheBackyardScientist May I suggest a layer of screen like what you would find in a window for your pouring in water experiments? One layer per metal or pour to mostly filter out all residual pieces from the prior experiment. Cat litter-boxes use a similar method to remove solids from clean cat litter and that's where I got the idea.

This is the coolest thing I have EVER seen
Wait till you see a woman naked for the first time. If you think this is cool, thats gunna blow your freakin mind.
This is actually the dumbest thing you've ever seen.
Pouring molten metal in water is extremely dangerous. Because aluminum can react with water when in liquid state and this reaction produces an insane amount of energy, and with the quantities he used it could have easily blown up half of his yard.
People are killed in foundries on a regular basis just because of wet cuves.
The only reason he's still alive today comes from the poor conditions he melted the aluminum in, protecting the molten metal with an oxyde layer thus preventing the reaction.
Somebody can make a living doing that artwork
My favorite so far. Above and beyond.
Very cool dude! I always have crazy science ideas like your's but we are not aloud to try them in chemistry or physics class. It is cool how you do your own science by just experimenting and watching what happens.
You should remove the oxide layer and see what happens.
