Thanks - glad you are liking how its looking! I really enjoyed seeing your take on the place (although still think you are a bit crazy for being able to enjoy building here 🤪) and have not forgotten the valuable inspiration it provided for when I had run out of ideas 👍
Many thanks! Never thought of adding a radio station, makes sense though and wish I had thought of it! Aiming for a little scrappy scavenger town look with this one and hope you will enjoy how it turns out 😁
You can tell your building template you usally us was tested differently due to this settlement, which made for a wonderful different approach. Enjoyed this vid.
Thanks! I did find this place both challenging and frustrating but happy with what I managed to come up with in the end. Hopefully you will also enjoy the rest of the building vids and the final tour 😊
Hi there, i have fallout installed on my pc for the last 6 years and i never really cared about the settlement build until now in 2024 😅 as i came across that damn ladder and could not find a way to just make it part of settlement until this video, cheers
I actually built a Minutemen Ranger station here. I honestly could've built it up better but it's so difficult to fit anything here without resorting to complicated build orders.
I just took this location last night with my raider character, I am debating doing a concrete bunker build, but I noticed that some of the walkways next to the radio transmitter are snappable, and it threw off my plans since the walkways don’t line up all the way.
I toyed with the idea of using the concrete pieces as they do fit in nicely with the location, but still need to practice using them more as I struggle to make decent use of them. I agree the odd aligned pre-existing walkways are a bit of a pain to deal with, if you have Place Everywhere they can be moved or removed using its extra object selection mode, or if on PC can be safely removed using the console. Hope your raider themed build turns out well! 👍
On the plus side you have a complete build series to watch, and then don’t have to wait two weeks for me to decorate the place for the finished tour 😉🤣
I have been watching all your vids, and greatly appreciate a FO4 settlement build content creator in 2022 (watching is so cathartic) . Even better, your builds are thematic, practical, and not tedious. However, I'm slightly concerned that some of your settlements are starting to look a bit TOO similar - like the Lone Survivor is wandering to each settlement with the same supplies and blueprints, applying one-size-fits-all solutions (one gate to rule them all). While the aforementioned is mechanically true, I was wondering if you thought about incorporating a scrapping mod, or using the expanded rotation and scaling tools? Furthermore, I highly recommend the QoL tools by Kinggath to streamline tricky or repetitive placements. And my last pitch: think over dedicating a settlement to only one build object mod (like Workshop Rearranged), then switching up when moving on to the next settlement. You might find continued inspiration without exploding your menus. Don't get me wrong, I love your style and methods, but every artist could use a new paintbrush!
Great to hear you are enjoying the builds and thank you for the thoughtful comments and useful suggestions! I can understand your thoughts on the settlements looking a similar, as I am aware that I often like to reuse things like house and guard designs with just slight variations and it’s something I need to work on. As this is a Minutemen playthrough I have in my mind that Preston and a small team are visiting and setting up these settlements, so it would make sense that they would have common themes and is my excuse for the lack of creativity on my part 😉 I have used Workshop Plus in the past, really liked it and agree it’s an awesome mod. My aim with this series of settlements was to try and improve my building skills and end up with a save where every settlement was built up, but would be intact even if the game was loaded without mods (also makes life much easier for people who want to use my blueprints!). I found after using WP+ and its requirement WSFW all my settlers disappeared if they were not enabled, so a bit of a strange reason but that’s why I don’t currently use them. As for using scrapping and object mods its something I plan to do when I manage to complete one of these vanilla style builds at each location (and something I am looking forward to). While a great suggestion I fear doing a one off modded build would make me not want to go back to using a limited build set. Still something to bear in mind if I am really struggling, and something that might have to happen for Vault 88 as I really don’t care for its default lighting options. Once again, thank you for all the suggestions and awesome comments 👍😁
All what you have explained makes sense, and I appreciate the reply! If you get tired of the junk gate like I do, have you tried using the barn set double doors as a gate? Also, I always like using a broken wall from the warehouse or barn sets (the ones you can walk through), and placing the single door piece from the junk walls against it; you can still snap a door to it, and helps both parts look sturdier and more reinforced. Nothing revolutionary there, but I'm curious on your approach to these classics.
Glad you enjoyed it - many thanks! The builds are all pre-planned with a rough version built first to work out where everything is going to be and look (I posted a couple of shots of this in the community tab). Once happy with the layout I’ll start over and record rebuilding the settlement in small sections. I often rehearse these sections a few times beforehand to hopefully ensure the build vids go smoothly.
@@anubus0012 No probs. A lot of people (myself included for a long time) just use it to get around the vanilla restrictions but it has a lot of useful features that are worth learning. I think what prompted me was looking for a mod to disable the workshop timeout, and was then shocked to learn the mod that has been a staple of my mod load order could already do it 😳🤣
@@anubus0012 It’s very similar but not the same mod 😉. It still has most of Place Everywhere’s main features but I believe it’s missing a few like the workshop timeout and option to move and scrap some existing settlement objects that you normally cannot select. You should still be able to use it to do almost everything shown in the vid though, so close enough 😁
Admittedly I do a few practice runs before recording so things all go smoothly when I record the vid, and don’t show the many failed attempts before I manange to get everything placed right 😉😅
Its a feature of the Place Everywhere mod and can be turned on and off using the F5 key, it's become a bit of a habit that I always enable it and surface snapping when ever I first enter build mode now 😉. You can find a full list of all the mods features and a list of hotkeys on its Nexus page: www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/9424
@@FiddleflapsVids thanks for answering so quickly! I l posted that comment maybe five minutes ago. I suspected it was a PE function. I'm still navigating those features. They aren't super intuitive to me and I haven't been modding on PC that long.
No probs, I think a lot of people (myself included at one point) just use Place Everywhere to get around the vanilla building restrictions without using its many other features. I only found out after searching for a mod to disable the workshop timeout before realising PE could already do it and I had been using the mod for years 🤣. I guess it does not help that its hotkey list is sort of hidden at the bottom of its mod page, but well worth reading through and playing around with them to see what they can do. Would also recommend playing around with the ‘extra object selection’ mode (INS), which allows you to move and even scrap some of the normally un-selectable settlement objects 👍.
That’s a damn good start and it’s already better than anything I have ever come up with for this settlement. Can’t wait to see more.

still playing fallout 4 and it's just as fun, cozy and relaxing as this in 2023

it's not easy to build at this place the land is limited but as you are a high level builder this construction will be great thank you for sharing
Must admit to finding this place frustrating to build at, thanks for checking out the build and the vote of confidence 👍😁
I completely forgotten about this
Brilliant way to use the land in front of the ladder.

A small ranger station sounds like the perfect use for this area with its rather restricted build area 😁👍
