You know HC was embarrassed because his gege found his personal shrine.
He was very scared and embarrassed, even he couldn't hide it and show confidence as usual.
His brain was probably screaming in all the decibels trying to figure out if gege would be ok with this

Honestly 💀 at least Xie Lian had someone who attempted to look after him. No one else did. And let’s be honest for Xie Lian who had no spiritual power the fact that someone so powerful was his ONE worshipper is probably one of the only things that kept him alive besides being immortal so 😭
When i read this scene, i pictured it to be more funny, cuz in the reader’s perspective, we wanted them together. But now, i understand why they were reacting so much any it, hua cheng would have looked like a 800 year old stalker.
Yeah, and they did saw some murals where he drew that scene where xie lian was poisoned in the cave and teen soldier hua cheng was guarding him. 👀
I mean, he kinda is a stalker, but the point is that Xie Lian needed someone that knew all of him without having to relive bad experiences, and not just what he shows people. He stuggles to open up, and generally puts on a mask of being ok. Hua Cheng already knowing everything gives Xie Lian relief and a sort of support that wouldn't have been possible any other way. Hua Cheng's reassurance counts for more since it's not just someone learning everything after Xie Lian has recounted this, he actually was physically there and experienced everything alongside Xie Lian.

I understand how someone can see this as a red flag and Hua Cheng is stalker. But the definition of stalker is: “a person who harasses, hurts or persecutes someone with unwanted and obsessive”. Hua Cheng is completely different he isn’t a stalker AT ALL. He didn’t even expect Xie Lian to even glance towards him, he didn’t harass him and didn’t hurt him (never even thought of it). He just wanted Xie lian protected, safe and looked after. His own desires didn’t matter.

Also he is only bound to live (as a ghost) because of xl existence soo... Would be nonsensical if he wasn't obsessed. 😂 He has no other reason to stay in the world otherwise.

This is unparalleled, I'm awestruck beyond words. The way you have captured everyone's emotions with utter precision? The outrage and fear and disgust that Fengqing felt. Hua cheng's terrifying anger. Xie lian.....not an ounce of fear in his face. He's only confused...about the statues, yes but more about the way Fengqing are reacting to the situation. The choice of music is so so good. Thank you for this brilliant piece of art. ♡

I feel like somehow, xie lian WAS scared thought, scared and confused, not of HC but of who he is, like he just learned that HC is hong hong er, that he carved at least 10 thousand statues of him and painted all the walls of this cave with xie lian and him on it. He is questioning himself, he his now really disturbed and quite afraid of HC obsession, but somehow enjoys it. It's crazy how well the artist portrayed this. ❤❤
I mean beyond the beautiful stills I could gush over individually, can we talk about how ridiculously well the music fits? Soft naive and innocent at first, building in swell as everything starts getting revealed, crescendoing with them finding (cough) that work, and taking a dark downward turn as Hua Cheng shows up out of nowhere phantom of the opera style. I felt that terror and guilt all over again, like I'd been caught reading someones diary without their permission.
The fans of this series continue to blow me away. Seriously. The best collective of "Fine, I'll do it myself". If there was a chronological playlist of all of these chapter animatics, this definitely deserves to be in there.

this is unbelievable.. from the drawings to the exquisite choice of soundtrack. And the way Hua Cheng was portrayed, like extremely terrifying which is something most artists fail to achieve. Everyone makes him sexy and cocky but few actually capture his dark, wild, dangerous aura. Excellent, thank you for doing this!

The music fits PERFECTLY, the moment it started I was filled with joy and excitement. The music is EXACTLY how this scene feels, one of my favorites in the book. I didnt realize I was holding ny breath til the video ended

I said this before on tik tok, but I must repeat myself. This is absolutely amazing. You expressed the tension of this scene just right (the song choice was also on point)
When I read the novel, this was the only part where I actually started doubting and FEARING Hua Cheng, which you made me feel all again, so congratulations.
Honestly, if you take a closer look, I guess the only person who was not scared of Hua Cheng was Xie Lian, Hua Cheng was probably also scared of what XL would think lol

I love how this captures the _actual terror_ I felt reading this scene. Because if I didn't know damn well Hua Cheng would never expect or hurt- Look even _with_ that knowledge it's terrifying and I'm so, so glad the author played it that way.
