After many years of teaching karate (6th DAN) and aikido(4thDAN) in Japan, receiving instruction from Asai sensei aka GOD OF REAL KARATE, my conclusion is simple - shorinji kempo is s combination of modern aikido and ``rather weak``, `shallow` karate... Real karate is blinding fast, sends opponents to the grave, shorinji and aikido (very similar to shorinji) mostly incapacitates... Still , very nice... Good for health, spirit and camaraderie... I`m sorry if somebody might have felt offended - that`s from my experience, thousands of dojo fights, many in reality on the streets with violent SOB`s holding knives ... Anyway, good luck to everyone!
That's really awesome being able to conclude that from training in two other, completely different arts. Quite impressive actually. I myself have trained in soccer and running for many years and from that am able to conclude that basketball is for sissies
My grade in Shorinji Kempo is fourth Dan. I study Rakan Appo(Pushing vital part skills) to pass fifth one. I enjoyed watching this video and look forward to your next work.

Has anyone practited shorinji kempo could you give me a litlle information please i will be gratefull ,the five questions i have are 1 shorinji kempo what is the difference between his kicks and karate especially goju ryu karate and kyokushin 2 questions strikes hands the difference between karate and taekwondo, 3 questions his punches the difference between modern boxing and karate could you tell me , 4 and defenses , like evasion , blocking, control the difference shorinji defense with karate and kickboxing if you can mix shorinji defense with other arts 5 and last game of the floor fight tecnique the difference between karate , jiu-jitsu, wrestling and shorinji.
@Leftystrat , Yes, you can dream...Kempo is good for beginners and tennis players like you.... Amateurs .... I won many times with kempo guys, 4 and 5 dans, as with one 6dan sensei. Karate is number ONE! PERIOD! In K1 or MMA there are no kempo people, too weak. Not effective against large, quick guys.
