Tecoma flowers can be seen in Malaysia blooming twice in a year , March to April and August to September . Tecoma trees give more better bloom if due to very hot weather and with heavy shower.
I didnt really realize it...but my son managed to get some photos of tecoma flowers nearby my house.as it was raining heavily last week, so all the flower are already past full bloom...
In Japan they are sakuras or cherry blossoms. In Malaysia they are called tecoma blossoms. They bloom at the end of March every year. In Japan the sakuras bloom in spring. In Malaysia the tecomas bloom as a sign of transition from the dry (hot) season to the rainy season. If you notice usually from January to March Malaysia is very hot and dry (hotter than usual). It seldomly rains. So when you see these blossoms it means rain are about to come in a few days. Now you see them on the ground, it means rain has already fall and the rainy season begins 😅

tekoma tree (sakura) has existed in malaysia for a long time, but in the past there were not many flowers like now ... sometimes it also depends on climatic factors .. because sometimes malaysia is quite hot .. i didn't think it would bloom in all over malaysia in almost every state ... the edges of my school also have a pink color.😊🌷🌷
For the past 2 years this tree blooms in September too. I remember because my bestfriend has birthday on mid-September and the tree always bloom around that time. Let's hope it blooms again this September too and you can see them in full bloom :)
Yeah.. last time in year 2015 when i was study in penang, that's was my final year around end of August.. the tree bloom for a week after the raining n cold temperatures that whole month..
Hello Aki. This tree blooms particularly well in the northern part of Malaysia (Penang, Kedah and Perlis) as their March and September months are very arid compared to KL, therefore providing an ideal climate for the Tecoma tree to bloom. If the MCO ends by then, maybe you should pay the north a visit! :D
Around my neighborhood there's actually many of this "sakura" like tree. I honestly understand why it bring such sentimental value to Japanese people because here in Malaysia too the tree doesn't bloom that often. Its a rare occasion to see it fully bloom.
I think it feels more impactful, at the neighbourhood or area you travel everyday to work, to school, to buy daily essentials. The area that you are so familiar with, then suddenly one day, the trees that you never pay any attention previously, are FULL of WHITE and PINK flowers, and even more flowers on the ground! 🌸🌸🌸❤️️❤️️❤️️ It's beautiful and delightful to see those trees in full bloom in my neighbourhood! 😍
The best thing about Tecoma or "Malaysian Sakura" is that it doesn't bloom once a year, it usually will bloom after rainy season when the weather is hot. So they usually come in full bloom after Monsoon season in March and late May, so if you ever missed Sakura season in Japan come to that place again during that time
From what I have observed since 2013/14 till this year, this tree blooms like two times (I'm not sure whether there was a third time) and from what I remembered, they sometimes bloom during Spring season and sometimes they just bloom. But I have not seen them blooming together, and which so much flowers. It feels so much like Spring season in seasonal countries like Japan. Also, if you notice, there is a type of tree with yellow flowers (planted by our local government), they usually bloom together, and it's really nice. P.S. If the sky was blue during the day of your visit, it would have been so nice to view and to take pictures and video. :D
I feel u. I went to visit Tokyo and Osaka few years ago but in winter season. I'm missing the moment now. I would love to experience spring season too but due to pandemic, it all got postponed for now. Thank u for ur precious video❤
Tecoma trees normally bloom at the end of extreme hot weather / no rain for several weeks. Once it rain again, then the trees started to blooms. I was blessed I can see the trees around my neighborhood.
Sakura blooming period can be predicted which is starting from end of march until early April while Tacoma doesn’t have specific month because basically it doesn’t influent by season. Thats why you can see some trees blossoms but some trees didn’t

This tree u can find at many housing areas in Malaysia. U may go to putra perdana puchong too. But once rain falls the flower will drop. As long as there is no rain the flower can survive for few days
Our college at penang has these trees and every year it will bloom at every last semester... We here also called it as the "bunga perpisahan" which is when the semester for everyone's graduation day is getting near depends on the year they take. Rn, im in my fourth semester and im gonna be graduating from this college,so i have seen the flowers bloom 2 times and it never ceased to amazed me
just that more have been planted these few years especially in the northern municipals. I have been tracking the dates of a few trees over the years but they are not really consistent.
This is called Trumpet Flower, or tabebuia rosea (the pink one). It is not tecoma, that is a small bush. The flowers last for only 2-3 days. Sometimes it blooms 2-3 times a year depending on how crazy the weather is, but normally it is only once. It is very late this year, usually it is in February, around Chinese New Year.

i think in southeast asia, only the philippines has real cherry blossom trees. japan donated 30 sakura trees to atok in benguet located in northern luzon in 2015 in celebration of 40 years of sisterhood ties with benguet province. they can be seen in sakura park. temperature of the place can go below zero during amihan (northeast monsoon), hence, the perfect place for the sakura tree to survive. they started blooming in 2018. they have bloomed again lately. we're on the 2nd week of july, 2024. full bloom though is expected in 6-10 years.
It blooms frequently in Kuala Kedah area especially along the main road heading toward jetty to Langkawi..but recently it also blooms beautifully in other areas too..perhaps the current very hot weather really fertilizes the flowers to bloom..
Malaysian city development planner should plant more of these at the park, not just at the side of the road. Like how the japanese made a park full of sakura tree
I'm happy for you to be able to see 'Malaysian sakura' trees and flowers. I wish for me to one day, get to see sakura in Japan. A long time dream of mine.
