Thank you Travis! I watched all your new uploads and took my exam today and passed!! Thank you for providing your classes on TH-cam. I am on top of the world today!!! You helped me understand the topics and pass my exam. I don’t even reside in North Carolina, but I understood what I needed in order to pass. I watched these videos over and over until it was embedded in my head! Thank you!
Travis.... I am a full time gym owner and I listen to all of your videos while I am driving or doing office work. My goal is to get my license in 2022!!
Hey there! First of all thank you for all your videos. I am from Michigan but found your page has actually helped me much more than prepagent or other channels. I failed my first PSI exam by 1 question last week. Scheduled to take it again the 1st of October. I specifically remember a question on my exam about a listing agent representing a house in a popular Russian community, question was asking can the agent withdraw his ad in the cities newspaper and put an ad in the local grocery store owned by a Russian family with a lot of Russians go to. Can you please explain what answer I should be looking for here? PSI gets so tricky with their answers and questions, constantly trying to trick you!
That's a very good way to look at it. The consumers need to make their choice. We can help and guide when our guidance isn't related to those 7 groups of people.
You are the best teacher. I'm in a faraway state but still learned so much. What if a client says "I don't want to be around this political atmosphere"?
Ask yourself if that is on the list of "protected classes". If you consistently learn to answer those questions yourself, you'll be much better off. If the thing you're asking about is on the list, then it can't be addressed. If the thing that you're asking about isn't on the list, it's fair game.
As I'm watching this video a couple years late, I'm wondering if any of these laws have been updated since then. I remember reading that "sex" now refers to gender, gender identity, and sexual orientation. I tried to research this to know for sure and I've come across mixed answers, yes's and no's. I've been binging all your videos trying to prepare for my exam and would really appreciate if you could clear some things up so I don't learn the hard way :) Thanks Trav, btw I love it when you randomly shout, sometimes i need that redirection lol
No, the Fair Housing Act has not been changed. The Biden Administration has directed HUD to enforce the Act so as to include sexual orientation as an aspect of gender but that is an executive enforcement decision...which could be just as quickly reversed by another administration. The law remains the same.
Good Morning Sir. I just want to personally Thank you for taking the time to upload your videos. I passed the NC Exam TODAY, April 23. They say “3 times the charm”. However, o could NOT have been successful without your videos. I’ll be looking to practice agency in the Raleigh area. I have a question. One question asked about “Which answer choice is Not protected against the Fair Housing Act....Jews...Arabs...Family with young Children...or Homosexuals...
I would think since homosexual is a sexual orientation, then it wouldn't. Sex, which is protected, is just male or female. I hope he will answer you soon! Congrats on passing your exam!
Hi Travis! Thank you so much for uploading these amazing videos. I had a question on my exam the other day in regards to an exemption for fair housing. It was a scenario question that was something like this--- A condominium complex with units and a mother and daughter wanted to be a tenant there. My question is, if a condo unit has a tenant there with 55+ year old , will this be an exemption to fair housing to deny the mother and daughter's request of being tenants there OR is the exemption for the 55+ year old strictly be applicable to a community only? I'm retaking the national portion exam this upcoming Monday so I want to make sure I understand this. Thank you so much!!
55+ communities are for the entire community. If it is a 55+ neighborhood, then the protections for "families with children" do not apply and therefore the mother with child could be denied. The key would be whether it was a 55+ community.
I have a question.. what's the difference in someone with a disability saying they prefer a home with no stairs (or something similar), where we can assist, and someone of a certain religion preferring homes in close proximity to something- like in the example, a temple, that we can't assist with?
A real estate licensee could assist with either request so long as it was posed in a manner that didn't make the protected class the reason/rationale for the request. As an example: Can I only see homes that have no stairs--acceptable Can I only see handicap accessible homes--not acceptable Can I see homes that are within 3 blocks of the corner of Main and Temple?--acceptable Can I see homes that are within 3 blocks of St. James United Methodist?--not acceptable
Travis, I was doing some research about discrimination against Jews. "The legal rule in the United States of 2022 is that discrimination against Jews based on their ethnicity rather than their religion is indeed "'race"' discrimination under the Civil Rights Act of 1866, and it may also be discrimination based on "'national origin''' under the Civil Rights Act of 1964." Tablet News: Are Jews a Race Under U.S. Law? By Eugene Volokh, May 15, 2022. I'm curious if this has been updated in the testing question bank.
The advertisement should not make reference to any protected class. If the school is associated with a particular religion, that would likely be something that should not be mentioned.
Question, obviously as a realtor you can not discriminate against lgbtq but what if you have gay clients who want you to find them a house in a lgbtq friendly community?
This group must not understand rules, if they feel sorry that children can not leave in 65 plus community. They might want to rethink their career choices, because this is just the beginning. Real estate is all about knowing the rules we can't put our emotions in it. lol
Travis great video👍🏾 Can you please edit out questions from your live audience that isn't pertaining to passing the exam? Many of their questions are about working as a broker and not about test preparation thus making your video exceptionally long
No, I'm sorry, I'm not going to spend hours editing the content that I'm providing you for free. My advice would be to try to glean as much information as you can from as many sources as you can. It will help tremendously in this industry.

Did you determine the answer ?
This is the answer it was on my exam too . I had it three times .
So the buyers get to pick where they wanna go but u cant help them pick where they wanna go?
That's a very good way to look at it. The consumers need to make their choice. We can help and guide when our guidance isn't related to those 7 groups of people.
Thank you for these!
My pleasure!

Are dorm allowed to discriminate such as female only?
Thank you!!

I laughed harder than I should have at your comment, "like I remember what I said earlier." Been there too many times
LOL...I talk way too much to remember what I said 5 minutes ago!
If it is advertised as near a catholic school, is that a violation? Since technically schools are not, but religion is?
The advertisement should not make reference to any protected class. If the school is associated with a particular religion, that would likely be something that should not be mentioned.

If you are a female and want to room with another female, can you advertise "female seeking female roommate"?
That is the rare exception to the advertising portion of the rules.
This group must not understand rules, if they feel sorry that children can not leave in 65 plus community. They might want to rethink their career choices, because this is just the beginning. Real estate is all about knowing the rules we can't put our emotions in it. lol
