THANK THE GOOD LORD that Lithium Battery technology will "Sunset" itself out! Even with Cars, there would be unthinkable DANGERS if we were to transition over to them up & down our Highways & Roads.
It’s not a normal fire. It cannot be extinguished with water & simple fire hose. The fire is caused by overloaded dialectic within the batteries; The lithium component spontaneously combusts and burns until it runs out of “fuel.” If water IS used it must be flooded. A special chemical foam is can be used to suppress the fire; however, more often, the fire is allowed to burn until it burns out.
Well, this sets back the whole "renewable energy is cleaner" thing a bit.. as the toxic smoke comes down..
This, the power plant up north and LA.... coincidence? hardly.
Doubtful it’s a coincidence. The Moss Landing lithium battery storage facility has had several fires in the past few years.
