    Always am blessed by your content guys. Thanks so much. I wanted to know if and how you balance time with friends because you seem to do life mostly as a family. Just want to know your thoughts around going on outings with friends vs as a family.

    I know you shared some of your winter gear, but it would be nice to have a master list of gear you’ve loved for each season!

    This was sooo helpful and encouraging to hear! I'm a mom to 6 blessings and Charlotte Mason is what convinced me to just be outside and let them learn and observe without interrupting their games and imagination!!❤

    I started this last year in August. We are getting closer to August and we only got 500 hours outside so far. I was hopeful to finish the 1000 by the time we started but I don't think it's going to happen. I'm currently 8 months pregnant and my husband is out of town for work. 😅 we will continue to hit the 1000 . But probably start over in August again. Hopefully we can get it done 2nd time around . Good for you guys!!

      I would love a whole video about it. Healthy picnic options. We also do a lot of picnics wherever we go (zoo, parks, woods, holiday parks, field, playground) but it’s always a challenge to pack something healthy what the kids also love. They love certain fruits like watermelon, all kinds of berries, bananas, apples with natural peanut butter, whole grain bread rolls (also home made ones) with salami sticks, pizza rolls ( homemade), corn on the cob, boiled eggs, nuts, dried unsweetened fruit, homemade pancakes or apple pancakes (oat flour or whole grain flour), and then I usually run out of options….. they also love rice pudding (only rice and milk) with a drizzle of honey or unsweetened apple sauce….
      So I would love a video about your to go or grab and go ideas.

    Love this! You inspired us to start this challenge with our 3 kids as well!! I do have a question; how do you track when not all of your kids are outside together, like when your boys go camping and are outside overnight but not all of you? This was one of my questions! Thanks!

    Love this!!! Could you share tips on how to spend a lot of hours outside when it’s hot? Fall and winter is kind of never a problem but summer when it’s so hot and you don’t have a pool or lake close by it’s harder…

  • @kaitlync15
    @kaitlync15 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Camping trips really help! We get a solid 48 hours in a weekend! Also going on vacation in the winter instead of summer allowed us to rack up a lot of hours in January !

    • @JuniperLynn789
      @JuniperLynn789 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed! Our hiking trips racked up our hours fast! Also, hanging with other like-minded homeschoolers for 8 hours outside every Friday. They would do their PE group and then we would stick around afterward, picnic, and the kids would just play!

    Just curious how you track your time. Do you start a stop watch? Write down each segment of time you spent as soon as you come inside, or something else? We do so many short segments outside that would be harder to track than say a two hour block but I'd like to start tracking it somehow. Thanks. :)

    So this was a very timely video! I have recently gotten very interested in the 1,000 hours outside goal. Y'all mentioned the heat but I live in middle GA and it gets so hot and so humid from june-september. Don't think biking will cut it for us. So I'm going to have to brainstorm on that...I appreciate this video tho it was still helpful.
    The last 2 months I have gotten so much more intentional about getting outside and my mental health is so much better and my kids haven't gotten sick!!

      We're in Alabama, and I totally feel you on the hot, humid weather (and I'll be very pregnant through the summer this year)! I was born and raised in Florida, but the heat and humidity together still make me feel really bad, so I just can't go out in it much. I'll take the cold any day. lol Doing anything with water has helped some, but we really try to get our hours in the rest of the year! July - mid-September are the hardest, for sure!

    Is there a printable/chart you used to keep track or did you make your own??
    Starting tomorrow! We live in southern Louisiana so it can be tricky and I have a 4 month old which makes it even trickier. So any heat tips are welcome!

    What method do you use to track your hours?

  • @jmljasmine
    @jmljasmine ปีที่แล้ว

    I've been trying to up our outside time. With littles and me having cold urticaria below 65 degrees and also major reactions to mosquitoes, I'm aiming for 500 to start. Then we ran into the air quality issues from Canada's fires... That set us back a lot. How would you handle the air quality issues?

    Cobgratulations on 1000 hours! I have a question: if you are on a 7 hour hike, what do you do if one of you has to go on the toilet or if you are on your period? Hope thats not to tmi 🙈
