But if you were to step into Danny's shoes as an outsider it would look really bad for a leader to grant one kingdom independence while the rest bent their knee and yielded her as their queen. It paints a brush of favoritism and Danny would have to deal with uprisings and lack of faith in her leadership constantly.

So, I find this little speech fascinating, because it strikes at the reason why House Stark and House Targaryen are different from the rest of Westeros. House Stark, because of how the North is, can largely ignore the Game of Thrones, hence why they suck at it. This was the first and only time in her life that Daenerys received counsel from an older woman. If she and Olenna had more time together they could have really filled a void in each others hearts.
It was really smart of Daenerys to follow Olenna's advice! I sure am glad she immediately seized King's Landing (with no civilian casualties because the Unsullied would never harm a civilian), while Jamie Lannister fulfilled the prophecy of Azor Ahai by plunging his sword through Cersei's heart to once again save King's Landing from a mad monarch who wished to burn it all down, and then they went north and defeated the White Walkers with Danny's dragons and Jamie's sword! 7 seasons was exactly the right number, they got a lil' stale there in the last 2 but I sure am glad they didn't, say, extend the show to 8 seasons for no reason beyond a blatant money grab. What a satisfying conclusion to an excellent show!
Olenna was a smart woman, but she did not have Daenerys interests in mind, she was a bitter old woman who, at this point, was only looking for revenge as the ones she loved were killed, and she would not have to live with any consequences for her actions or the actions of Daenerys.
Rewatching these videos, I realize that no Targaryen woman who deserved the throne could really have it, but Cersei did for a good time. One of the great injustices of Westeros
I don’t think Cersei will ever ascend the throne in the books (Tommen is still alive) but who knows. Faegon Blackfyre will undoubtedly be king when Daenerys returns to Westeros. This will begin the Second Dance of the Dragons. 🐉
Not a great person to take advice from, in the state she was in. Olenna at this point just wanted blood and destruction. She and her house had no future. Shes not advising Daenerys on the best political moves for acceptance and the realm... she just wants to see everyone burn.
Olenna is basically Emperor Palpatine here. Woman knows the Tyrells are practically extinct so yeah, rather see tons of blood and destruction before she croaks. Even when it didn't work out, she still got some measure of revenge by essentially mocking Jaime for being a sucker letting her, the murderer of his son, die peacefully. Again, Olenna was pretty obvious on her intentions.
Nah, Olenna will praise Daenerys for sure for going to the kill all button. Olenna saw the future via her grandchildren gone the moment Cersei blew them up. The old woman is done scheming. She wants blood and hellfire before she dies with a smirk on her face. I enjoyed the character for such brutal honesty till the bitter end for her and I'm not exactly comfortable for the fandom to paint her as some wise saint.
This seems to be a perplexing trend of the dragon riders is they don’t want to actually use their dragons to win, just threaten to win. Their ancestors did not hesitate and did conquer and preserved their kingdom. I don’t understand the hesitancy, to be honest. Maybe with mutually assured destruction that would be a reason to hesitate, but dragons are not quite that powerful, nor are there enough of them to assure mutual destruction.
Solid advice to Daenerys if they're ever was any to her in the show. Lady Olenna was the only character that could get away with talking to her like that.
"He's a clever man, your hand... I've known many clever men, I outlived them because I ignored them all. So here's my advice to you... don't be a sheep, be a Dragon" Season 8 ending... Olenna - Dead Danerys - Dead Tyrion - Alive Danerys should have listened more.

@@jessmith7324 yeah personally idm that she turned out to be as mad as her father and that she had to die for the good of the realm. It was GRRM's ending after all even though he hasn't released the last 2 books yet. Am not surprised about it anyway... You see Daenerys has a messiah complex. Those types of people craving for love, attention and admiration of others.
I honestly think she would laugh as the city and it's queen that put Olenna's family through crap before Cersei murdered them all finally gets the burn them all treatment. Olenna knew what she got herself into throwing her lot with Dothraki, Unsullied, Ironborn, and Kinslayers all led by a woman who has three living weapons that are the equivalent of nukes in their setting. I honestly say Olenna was the most dangerous of Daenerys's allies because she had nothing to lose at this point and she was horrendously underutilized because no one on her side had the balls to be that ruthless until the end.
If Daenerys had stopped listening to Tyrion and kept listening to Olenna, a bad*ss woman who outlived some of the most powerful and reveered men that ever lived, she'd of been queen in a fortnight and a lot of people wouldn't have died. Olenna really should've been Dany's Hand, not Tyrion. I mean, think about it. When Aegon and his sisters flew to Westeros, they didn't have any clever plans or brilliant strategies. It was either bend to knee or be burned alive. Just showing up with your dragons would've had the Lords and Ladies of the Seven Kingdoms bowing before you. Dany though, she listened to every little strategic plan that Tyrion said and lost allies, friends, potential friends and family.
Daenerys shouldn't have gone north without first securing kingslanding.... could've used as a good negotiate piece to the north....bend the knee and illl help in ur war but she had bad advisors tbh.
Hmmm, first wrong advice that the Queen of Thorn gave to anyone... she should have said...’dragons are a girls best friend, but you my dear, needs to get laid..’....😂😂😂
Olenna is clever? Shall I remind you what happened to her son, her granddaughter and her grandson? And before what happened to them, they were imprisoned, and the same was going to happen to Olenna if she didn't leave. Olenna thinks she is so clever but they screwed up with Renly, they screwed up with Joffrey and they screwed up with Tommen. Is funny how women think they are so smart in this serie and is always proven wrong.
@@brbr9558 She screwed up by not advising her grandaughter to be civil to Cersei. If Margaery had just been a decent person instead of laughing of Cersei with her handmaidens and trying to get her sent to Casterly Rock, then the Tyrells would have still been in power, together with the Lannisters. It was dumb to want too much. Olenna should have advised Margaery better
@@mattteomatei3610 are you high? renly was not a screw up, he would have easily won the war but died because of blood magic which literally nobody could have predicted. joffrey was impossible to control so the tyrells killed him and weren't even suspected to be behind it in the slightest, and margaery had tommen wrapped around her finger the only reason the tyrells lost was because cersei basically did the westeros equivalent of nuking the vatican, which realistically was a braindead move that should have gotten her deposed within a week. only reason she even kept the throne is because the thousands upon thousands of members of the faith militant kinda forgot they existed and the tyrell army that's been completely untouched the past 5 seasons kinda forgot they outnumbered the lannister army 10:1
Bro what? Renly wasn’t a screwup. Cocky yes, but not stupid. He died from weird blood magic, something only sorcerers would know of. And the only reason Cersei “won” is because the internal logic of the universe was broken and ignored. Remember when Joffrey executed Ned Stark and the country descended into war? Thats what should have happened to Cersei, her being executed for high treason and mass murder, on top of the other crimes the Faith had against her. But the morons writing the show kinda forgot that the Faith were popular with thousands of followers in Kings Landing that would want Cersei dead for killing their savior in the High Sparrow, and also for killing a beloved Queen in Margaery.
What do You mean if she had heard her advise she would have attacked Kings landing burned it to the Ground and wouldent have lost the tyrells and if she just sended one dragon to protect the martel greyjoy fleet euron greyjoy Will be dead so what the fuck are You talking about
It actually was good advice, just not at the time Dany used it 😭 Had she been more forceful in her approach with Cersei WAYYYYYY sooner, she wouldn't have lost her allies or dragons & she also would not have burned innocent people. She also could have used all of Cersei's forces against the Wights, which would have helped considering she didn't have their help & the battle was difficult. So many people from the North died, the Dothraki, etc bc they just didn't have the numbers or the manpower. I'm sure a lot of her rage towards the end was that she listened to people who told her to hold back & it cost her soooo much. Eventually she just snapped & said no more holding back. You can't hold that kind of rage in, she should have been more tactical rather than reserved. Aegon the conqueror would not have handled things the way Tyrion & Varys were telling her to, he would have been assertive, aggressive even. She decided to play a role so people would like her, not realizing that saving Westeros would make people like her! They may have hated her at first, but if you save people they're generally inclined to feel gratitude towards you. I'd rather be a ruthless dragon & save people than be a sheep, only to lose everything & then go mad.

So here's my advice to you... don't be a sheep, be a Dragon"
Season 8 ending...
Olenna - Dead
Danerys - Dead
Tyrion - Alive
Danerys should have listened more.
Lady Olenna: "You're a dragon. Be a dragon."
Daenerys: "Burn down King's Landing. Got it."
Lady Olenna: "What?"
Daenerys: "What?"
Olenna exudes "i dont give a fuck" attitude and that's why she is one of me favorites of the series
Dany should have listened to Olenna Tyrell, she would have made a much better Hand of the Queen.
Soooo she decides to be a dragon and all the fans got pissed? lol
no people are pissed cuz the quality of the show went downhill the last few seasons. the ending is only bad cuz it feels rushed and theres no character development.
@@daedricprince9446 symbolized by her going dragon on kings landing lol
@@jessmith7324 yeah personally idm that she turned out to be as mad as her father and that she had to die for the good of the realm. It was GRRM's ending after all even though he hasn't released the last 2 books yet. The issue I have is the way the show executed it; was lacking especially compared to how good the first 4 seasons were.
The irony here is that she DID listen to her….she burned kings landing to the ground…
I totally forgot that Olenna met Daenerys
Diana Rigg should've won at least one Emmy & been nominated many
Olenna told me to be a dragon. I followed her advice and burned my kingdom's capital to the ground. 💀
"BE a Dragon."
future goal: be as bad ass as Olenna
And then Season 8………..turned out to be dragon dung.
Tyrion gave her terrible advice
By his on accorded, because just a couple episodes ago,Bonn told him( it's not the fighting that does the most harm but the starving ).And now Tyrion is telling her to starved them for their on good..what contradiction!
Oh Emilia Clarke is one hell of a beautiful woman
Am not surprised about it anyway... You see Daenerys has a messiah complex. Those types of people craving for love, attention and admiration of others.
Olenna is the one who burned kings landing 😮
*Chills
and she went on to become the hay... like she destroyed herself 😭
Imagine if Lady Olenna had advised Dany instead of the ingrate tyrion from season 5 and onwards
Spirit of Olenna later in the show: NOT THIS DRAGON! NOT THIIS DRAGON!!!
Then may I ask? Who's the sheppard?
Terrible advice, that led to her downfall. Burning and killing a whole city because 1 person close to her was beheaded. She lost her humanity.
I like to think this is just Olena saying “If my family can’t have it, no one can, so Fuck it, burn this kingdom down.”
Queen of Thorns!
Nonsense. She was a dragon and got stabbed for it - before she could slaughter more innocents. Like the dragons did when feeding.
Then the writers fkd it up.
But then she became a dragon and everyone lost their shit
Tyrion's advice almost always sucked, he should have been court jester
Daenerys shouldn't have gone north without first securing kingslanding.... could've used as a good negotiate piece to the north....bend the knee and illl help in ur war but she had bad advisors tbh.
“Man bad, woman good”
And the wheels kept falling off, to no one’s surprise…
So Olenna is the cause of Deanarys final mistakes?
🙏
#YaraWasRight
This proves a woman should not necessarily take advice from a woman for just being a woman.
When u wish it was deamon in game of thrones 😭😭😭😭
Hmmm, first wrong advice that the Queen of Thorn gave to anyone... she should have said...’dragons are a girls best friend, but you my dear, needs to get laid..’....😂😂😂
Tyrion ruined Daenerys life

It was so nice to see the old woman die -- finally. Jaime dear Jaime.
@@mattteomatei3610 are you high? renly was not a screw up, he would have easily won the war but died because of blood magic which literally nobody could have predicted. joffrey was impossible to control so the tyrells killed him and weren't even suspected to be behind it in the slightest, and margaery had tommen wrapped around her finger
the only reason the tyrells lost was because cersei basically did the westeros equivalent of nuking the vatican, which realistically was a braindead move that should have gotten her deposed within a week. only reason she even kept the throne is because the thousands upon thousands of members of the faith militant kinda forgot they existed and the tyrell army that's been completely untouched the past 5 seasons kinda forgot they outnumbered the lannister army 10:1
@@quinoalove; N’all, The only reason sh•t fail apart was because D&D are horrible writers
@@aegonthedragon7303 Morons writing the show???????? Bandwagon at its finest. People can't even judge Benioff and Weiss fairly
Worst advise ever 😒😒
Ciné SériesDeal she has dragons, she should use them...that’s the best advice and the logical advice. It’s war. Deal with it.
What do You mean if she had heard her advise she would have attacked Kings landing burned it to the Ground and wouldent have lost the tyrells and if she just sended one dragon to protect the martel greyjoy fleet euron greyjoy Will be dead so what the fuck are You talking about
not that olenna cared at this point
@blacklight4845 she's telling her to attack kings landing, of course she's attacking innocent people, she's been threatening people with her dragons since they could breathe fire she's literally no different than the mad king
Lol Olenna knew what she was doing with that dragon statement 🤣🤣🤣 this is why kings landing is the way it is today 🐉🔥🐉🔥
Tiriyan was majorly responsible for Danery's downfall. She should have taken Lady Olena's advice more seriously.
She took Olenna's advice, which was her downfall. She betrayed everything she had claimed to stand for.
future goal: be as bad ass as Olenna
