Internet is great: some nice dude records a video from Malibu coastline and I can relax from Europe while watching it at 2 am after a hard day. Thank you Brent.
Nice! Did you get a chance to watch the other Pacific Coast Highway video I have on TH-cam? It features footage, located just west of the scenes you saw in this video, and showcases a somewhat more rugged landscape and intimate, unobstructed views of the ocean. Thanks for dropping by and commenting. Cheers!
Born in Queens NYC, raised in Jersey, live right outside of New York City in New Jersey. I will be visiting L.A. California for the 1st time. I can't wait it looks like a different universe to me. Great Video and Nice Song, Thanks!
This video and song is what started putting in the motion my move to the LA area after always wanting to live there. It inspired me to get to work and make it happen. So glad to be here.
I'm just catching up on some of the more recent comments left on this video. Wow...I'm pretty humbled to read this! That's awesome...how long have you been living in LA for now? I'm actually working on a brand new video of the PCH, showcasing the western half of the Malibu coastline. Should be on TH-cam within about a week or so.
Been here since January. Was lucky enough to have a friend out here so was able to apply for jobs using her address and have no settled into my own place. H l
Nice! Glad you've been making it work out here. I just released another video of the PCH yesterday..the drive into Malibu. Pacific Coast Highway, Driving Into Malibu along Southbound California State Route 1
Heaven, indeed! Did you get a chance to also check out my other PCH video, showcasing the ride before where this video started? From Point Mugu State Park, out to the Malibu city limits. I personally like that video better, as there are virtually no parked cars or homes, making it much easier to see the ocean.
Really love all of your video's. The "boring" Netherlands is nothing compared to all these beautifull roads and places you got. Wish to go there someday!
Freakin AWESOME!! I drove this same route going from El Matador state beach to Santa Monica place .. I also ate at Dukes Malibu .. the food I had was Mediocre but THE OCEAN VIEW made up for everything . I visit LA at least 2x a year from Oklahoma .. someday I’ll be there permanently or on the outskirts where it’s cheaper .
Hey man, glad you enjoyed watching! Duke's is decent; it's really more about the views there. Have you tried breakfast or lunch/dinner items at Malibu Farm Pier Cafe, located on the Malibu Pier several miles north/west of Duke's? There's the main restaurant, located at the foot of the pier, and then the breakfast cafe at the very end of the pier (which also serves lunch items). A little bit pricey, but the food there is legitimately good, and the views are almost unbeatable. Not sure if you've been to the nearby Malibu VIllage shopping center (just a couple of quick traffic lights away from the pier), but that's more or less the de facto downtown area of Malibu. Some national chains, mixed in with locally owned shops and cafes there. Across the street is the lagoon, which is great for a walk or jog. Oh, and I have another video of the Pacific Coast Highway, which shows the western half of this highway through Malibu and Point Mugu State Park. th-cam.com/video/Asl9BOwSV00/w-d-xo.html
FreewayBrent I haven’t explored Malibu as much as I’d like .. the only times I’ve been was for a photoshoot back in 2015, pride weekend 2019 & this past Halloween weekend . I usually stay in El segundo or Manhattan beach when I visit LA . I DO love Malibu & it’s country but chic vibe .. I drove through some Mountains that have tunnels headed to Topanga Canyon & it was like a movie . & yes Dukes was just not the best ..thanks for the recommendations . My fav thing to eat is seafood & the best spot I know ( so far ) is the Albright Santa Monica . & btw I totally dig this song ! It’s a California vibe .
I would love to live in Malibu where the temperature is so moderate. I live in Texas and am so sick of the intense heat and humidity. How nice it would be to live on the ocean in a town where the temps are 70s and 50s.
I love this! I was there a few months ago and drove this section numerous times. Now, back on the other side of the globe, this is a great way to relive the memories. Thanks a lot.
That's true. If you want to go to the beach just go west. If you want to go to the forest just go north. If you want to go to the snow visit mount baldy. If you want to go to the city visit la or San Fran! Want to go to the desert go to Lancaster. We have almost everything
Being politically 'progressive' isn't always progress, just reminding you to consider that. The state really is undeniably great, I'm envious sometimes. From the beginning it was overpowered though haha. With the largest and most beautiful coastline of any of the lower 48, oil beneath a beautiful desert, and a farm belt the size of Illinois, I'd be disappointed if the state turned out to be anything less.
Thanks! Did you get a chance to check out my other PCH video? It covers the more scenic stretch of the Malibu coastline. Better editing too. I'll link you directly to the video here. Cheers! th-cam.com/video/Asl9BOwSV00/w-d-xo.html
Awesome- bought back memories of the summer of 1990 when I was in Santa Monica visiting the beaches whilst in California with my aunt! Great ride, brings back awesome memories.
+Phuck Ewe : No doubt! I think my favorite drive over the Santa Monica Mountains is Kanan Dune Road, with the multiple tunnels and 8% grade at the southern end of the road. Did you happen to watch my other Pacific Coast Highway video, entering Malibu? If not, I'll link you to the video in this comment. th-cam.com/video/Asl9BOwSV00/w-d-xo.html
I'm pleasantly surprised at the sudden surge of interest in this video. Been getting all sorts of comments on it, in recent weeks. I have another Pacific Coast Highway video coming up in the works in about 3 - 5 weeks from now. Glad you dropped by to watch!
Thank you! I actually just released a new video of the Pacific Coast Highway, located west of where this video ended, that showcases the 10 mile ride into the Malibu city limits. Even more scenic. Link provided below. Pacific Coast Highway, Driving Into Malibu along Southbound California State Route 1
Maybe demand for people like me who had an awesome time in L.A. during the holidays and miss the US so bad that they have to watch these videos again and again and again...
Thanks for watching! Glad the video brought back some good memories. Well, 3 years after I released this video, I'm actually getting ready to start editing the footage that features western and central portions of the Pacific Coast Highway through Malibu. Video should be up in about 1 to 2 weeks from now.
Also, if you'd like, you can check out the continuation of this video, along the Santa Monica Freeway (I-10). I released the video about 2 months ago. I-10 East (CA), Santa Monica Freeway in Los Angeles, I-405 To Downtown Los Angeles
Update: Just released a brand new video of the Pacific Coast Highway, showcasing the 10 mile ride from Point Mugu State Park into the Malibu city limits. Link provided below. Pacific Coast Highway, Driving Into Malibu along Southbound California State Route 1
Hey, thanks! I plan on doing some more PCH videos in the future, once I get through my Toronto series of videos. In fact, drop by the home page to check out my featured video, showcasing the Gardiner Expressway in Toronto. You'll be passing by skyscrapers on an elevated viaduct.
gnryushi: Update: Here is the brand new video, showcasing the 10 miles of southbound CA 1, from Point Mugu State Park to the Malibu city limits. Pacific Coast Highway, Driving Into Malibu along Southbound California State Route 1
Been on this route before, YEARS ago back in 1990 and I will never forget how beautiful Santa Monica was and how I marveled at seeing the highways I'd seen on TV for years.
FreewayBrent, you got it going on! Nice video editing, great tune, loved those little blurbs and the street signs. Sometimes it's hard sitting through these vids- but you totally nailed it. Keep doing what you're doing!
Thank you! I just released a brand new video, showing what lies just west of where this video starts off. It's basically the 10 miles that lie, just west of Malibu. It's arguably even more beautiful than what you saw in this video. Feel free to click on the link I've provided, if you want to watch the new video. Pacific Coast Highway, Driving Into Malibu along Southbound California State Route 1
FreewayBrent ohh,,thk you very much dear,,you reply my comment very fast,,what time USA right now??,, I'm live in Malaysia time here is 5 pm afternoon now,,i just relax and watching your video,,but don't do the video very fast bcos I like to see panoramic view in every corner your video,,thnks ya from peninsular Malaysia east coast,,2014,,
how fantastic was this!! this is the route we took coming into Los Angeles for my first visit. My sister was driving while I was taking loads of phtotos from the passengers seat and I recognized so many of the buildings that I got in my pics here in your video. I loved the musical selection - it really suited the slower pace of the PCH compared to your usual freeway vids!
Hey, thanks! That's sort of the idea behind these videos; to really give the viewer the perspective that they're actually "there". I've been surprised at the interest this video has generated; thought it'd get a few thousand views, at most. As for the song choice, the rationale behind choosing it is that they're a local band, and the tune of the song sort of has that "beach vibe." At least in my quirky mind, lol. Anyway, thanks for dropping by and watching.
really appreciate , i watch this video before my trip and when i was there it was like a dream , my trip was on october 2013 and will be returned in april cause i relly love them
Never heard the song before but really like it. I also love your videos. You drive at a steady pace, and the videos are not fast moving. Makes it easier to enjoy the views. I don't travel so this is fun for me. Love seeing California as I would like to live there some day. Thanks for the great videos.
Awesome video! Even the rock formations further north on this highway are absolutely gorgeous. And Malibu Seafood, I clearly remember that place got awesome food!
Hey, thanks! I'm fairly surprised at the niche interest this video has generated, despite virtually no coverage from the media or any promoting from TH-cam. I'm really glad you enjoyed, and invite you to watch my other recent videos, which you'll find on my home page. Peace!
Thank you for sharing this video as well as the others. It reminds me of my trips to America (California) I live in the Philippines, Somehow the air is different in America. The roads are well paved, smooth and always a joy to drive.
I spent the first full day of my first visit to CA on the beach there and driving through Topanga Canyon, great memories! Loved the music selection as well, don't mind the encore! :)
I've only been to Oahu when I was 15, and didn't get to enjoy the experience as much as I would've liked, as I was helping my dad's company shut down their Hawaii operations in Honolulu. Glad you enjoyed watching!
@Dalaskan: I don't think I've responded to your comment yet? I forget, lol. Anyway, thanks for watching. Did you happen to visit some of the other beach cities, such as Manhattan Beach or Hermosa Beach? Both have great downtown centers.
Great video man, I like that you always find the perfect music for your videos. I think it's not easy always to fit the clip with the traffic sings which are there and stuff like that, so nice to see you do your best (great work) Have a nice weekend ;)
Wow, it's awesome to read comments like these. Much appreciated! Sometime in the next couple of months, I'll be featuring one of the top 2 or 3 most dramatic stretches of Highway 1. Paired with a pianist and a very good friend of mine.
I actually don't have to do *any* editing with the lighting...no filters, no added effects. That's the Mediterranean climate for you..lots of bright sunshine and warm days. Glad you stopped by to watch! Take care.
Thank you! Did you happen to check out the other Pacific Coast Highway video I released, a few months ago? Better editing (at least in my humble opinion), and the signs are much improved from when I released this video in 2011. I'll provide a direct link to the video, just below this comment. It covers the stretch from Point Mugu State Park, out to the western Malibu city limits. th-cam.com/video/Asl9BOwSV00/w-d-xo.html
@buckeyegeography2011: Yup yup. I still haven't visited the Getty Villa, although now that I'm permanently living in So Cal, I'll definitely visit sometime. Thanks for watching!
@pk33617: Hey, thanks for watching! I just tried to simulate the signs that Caltrans posts. Sometimes they'll use "Canyon", and other times, they'll shorten it to "Cyn."
@Westcoast802: Cool, thank you for the props and for watching! There's a lot of maneuvering involved with the graphics (i.e. signs); it's a bit of work to find the right "touch" and timing down.
Hey there. Just a friendly note that I mention the song artist and name at the end of each and every video. In this case, it's "Pumped Up Kicks" by Foster the People. Thanks for stopping by and watching. :-)
Mate this one of my favorites - Santa Monica in Summer time number 1. Reminds me of Hank Moody running away from the boy friend on Californiacation thanks Man.
I'm just reading some of the older comments on here right now. So sorry I didn't see this until now. I actually just released a new video of the Pacific Coast Highway, from Point Mugu State Park to the western Malibu city limits...or about 8 miles from where this video started. If you want, feel free to come check it out. Pacific Coast Highway, Driving Into Malibu along Southbound California State Route 1
Oh wow! The first time I heard this song on the radio was in LA back in August! We drove up the PCH past Malibu and then turned around to stop at Topanga Beach. We actually missed the exit right there at Ocean ave to go to the pier! We had to drive back around LOL
Heck, I don't think *any* video, edited or unedited can ever really approximate the feeling of being there. It's a great part of the world, that's for sure! Thanks for watching and commenting. I am have another video that starts before Point Mugu and continues out to the western city limits of Malibu if you want to watch. Cheers!
Wonderful job on this! Some of those homes to the right at 1:54 may be worth millions, but they sure do look pretty dumpy for that area haha. Sebass tried to smoke a joint at the SM Beach one night when we went there but ended up wasting it all because he couldn't light it due to the wind lol. Nice touch in the end credits with the Facebook logo and copyright mark. I may have to borrow that for future videos of mine... Look forward to seeing what else you filmed on your excursion there!
SoCal is great! I'm actually moving back to the Bay Area in 2 weeks from now, but I'll definitely still be a frequent visitor to Los Angeles. A lot of great things happening down here. Thanks for watching!
@GeoffJennyOliver: Glad you enjoyed! This is going to be a bit confusing for you, but Malibu actually lies *west* of Downtown LA (perhaps a bit southwest). California State Route 1 thru Santa Monica, Malibu, and out toward Ventura (and Santa Barbara) is signed as a north-south route, but physically runs in an east-west direction. Caltrans generally doesn't like to switch directional tabs for a single route, even if a particular stretch is signed, contradictory to its physical direction.
Cool! Some things have changed a lot since you were here some 2+ decades ago, but a lot of things are still (almost) the same, as they've always been. Glad you enjoyed watching.
Good one! I've done this drive thousands of times. I could do it damn near that fast on my Triumph late at night forty years ago. Too many new traffic lights now.
@CD1xonProductions: Yeah, this song is definitely catchy. It's been on the radio all summer, but never knew the song artist or title until I started editing this video.
Oh wow, did I not respond to your comment? So sorry. Thanks for watching! I actually just released a brand new video of the Pacific Coast Highway, showcasing the 10 mile ride from Point Mugu State Park to the western Malibu city limits. More scenic...better editing and a more polished overall look and feel to the video, too. Link provided below, if you want to come check it out. Pacific Coast Highway, Driving Into Malibu along Southbound California State Route 1
My personal favorites list = California, Washington, Maryland (and Northern Virginia around DC), and probably Colorado. Really enjoyed my time as well in Florida and Illinois. :-D
Ha, yeah, not to mention epic traffic jams on the weekend. I intentionally filmed this in the early Spring on a Monday, in an attempt to avoid any major slowdowns. Thanks for watching!
Very nice video, Im live in LA fro 1998 to 2008 and Im drive on the PCH many times, just for travel from West Covina to Santa Barbara I think once a month because I like that route, is very relaxing for me, if you have some video of PCH from Huntington Beach to San Clemente, is very nice too.
@IsoscelesKramer: Not a bad way at all to start off an introduction to California, with a Malibu and Santa Monica tour. A great stretch of sand, not to mention a lot of interesting places to check out. Glad you had a great time while visiting.
Cool! I love NYC, hoping to go back later this summer. You can find specials on Southwest Airlines for as cheap as $139 each way from NYC to Los Angeles. Come on down!
@RedroomStudios: Awesome, glad I was able to help you enjoy a trip down memory lane. Believe it or not, I like all sorts of music genres; it would just be a bit difficult to choose a mellow pop or country music song on a freeway drive that's sped up 3.5x!
Thanks! Most of my videos feature freeways, but I do on occasion also feature a scenic stretch of road or even a street tour. My upcoming videos are all from Toronto; in fact, I'm releasing the 2nd video from the region in the next few days. Should be a pretty epic ride into the heart of Toronto. :-)
Cheers!
FreewayBrent Going to watch that one.

Love this drive. One of the most relaxing/beautiful drives ever. As a resident I tend to head there just to relax and watch the waves and coast
As a person watching this from the future... it's insane how advanced cars have become in the last 8 years in looks, technology, and speed...

I spent the first full day of my first visit to CA on the beach there and driving through Topanga Canyon, great memories! Loved the music selection as well, don't mind the encore! :)
I drove on this route many many times, it's my favorite cruising spot!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed. I'm hoping to get out to your neck of the woods, sometime soon. Would love to visit Brazil, and all it has to offer.
I love your videos.
spent 4 days at Santa Monica in last Nov. loved it !
will be back again:)
Great trip!
100 Wilshire high-rise building in Santa Monica, I love it!
I actually don't have to do *any* editing with the lighting...no filters, no added effects. That's the Mediterranean climate for you..lots of bright sunshine and warm days.
Glad you stopped by to watch! Take care.
I muted you and played "Hollywood Nights" by Seger while viewing. Much better now! The tempo and your film speed make this magical.

Awesome video with an awesome soundtrack in the background, just great! Grtz from Belgium
Same band shot a music video at the white hillside mansion; "Villa Leon", which I always thought was the Getty Villa. Great videos, thank you.
Thanks!! Hey, I didn't know about that...Foster the People; they're pretty awesome.
Oh, wow! Fun and relaxing at the same time! I could watch this everyday!
"pump up kicks"good tune!
To see the continuation of the ride along Interstate 10, check out my newest video here!
I-10 East (CA), Los Angeles, I-405 To Downtown Los Angeles
I've watched this one a lot... and this song is a fav now...I know I'm late but into other genres lol it fits perfectly for this stretch 👍👌
Oh wow! The first time I heard this song on the radio was in LA back in August! We drove up the PCH past Malibu and then turned around to stop at Topanga Beach. We actually missed the exit right there at Ocean ave to go to the pier! We had to drive back around LOL
Nice to see my hometown, though seeing it at 90mph doesn't really approximate being there.
Heck, I don't think *any* video, edited or unedited can ever really approximate the feeling of being there. It's a great part of the world, that's for sure! Thanks for watching and commenting. I am have another video that starts before Point Mugu and continues out to the western city limits of Malibu if you want to watch. Cheers!
Just 4 or 5 more months until it warms up over there. :-) Glad you enjoyed the ride!
Greetings from New York City. Really cool video. I look forward to visiting your coast someday. Oh, and I love the song too! :)
SoCal is great! I'm actually moving back to the Bay Area in 2 weeks from now, but I'll definitely still be a frequent visitor to Los Angeles. A lot of great things happening down here.
Thanks for watching!
Great video, very professional
1:57 Happy memories of our time on holiday (2019) in California, we were staying in Palisades and had a meal out at Moonshadows.
so cool!! I wish I can drive on this way..lol...the song is wonderful!!
@CD1xonProductions: Yeah, this song is definitely catchy. It's been on the radio all summer, but never knew the song artist or title until I started editing this video.
Thanks for the ride along!

My personal favorites list = California, Washington, Maryland (and Northern Virginia around DC), and probably Colorado. Really enjoyed my time as well in Florida and Illinois. :-D
@shirke01: Thanks for watching, appreciate the kind words. :-)
Haha, you're not the first person to tell me that. Thanks for stopping by and watching.
Hey, thanks for watching! I can't believe how many comments this video receives on a weekly basis, from viewers like you.
Thanks for the video-- ive lived in la for 14 years and I never been to Malibu-- farthest was Santa Monica pier
Danke ❤ greetings from Germany
I remember taking this since I needed to go to the Getty near Malibu.
When you finally reach los santos after a long drive from paleto bay
