    For many women, at about 6 months or so after birth, your boobs will adapt to your babies appetite and will go back to the size they were previously. Lots of people think they “have lost their milk” but it’s just that your body produces milk in a more efficient way so you don’t have to store up a lot before feeding. It’s like those “on demand” hot water heaters for want of a better example. You don’t need a tank full of hot water in that case, the water is heated as you need it and it never runs out. Same once your body learns to produce milk efficiently. It happens at different times for different people so your chest will gradually come down in size in a few months.

      Yes. And when you continue to feed up to 2 years like me, they shrink. A little too much imo 😂

      Yes, they definitely don’t stay as large as they are those first couple months once your supply has firmly been established, usually around 6ish months, mine stayed larger than pre pregnancy nearly the whole time I was breastfeeding, but not by a lot, like a half a cup size.

    Give yourself time for your body to adapt to postpartum, don’t throw anything out just yet.
    Like other comments, you could try shortening your fave skirt to make the waistband fit, but if that doesn’t work, I’ll take the skirt! 😂

    • @SandieMitchell
      @SandieMitchell 3 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      I agree; never toss clothing out right after having a baby. It's only been a couple months, and it took 9 to grow sweet little Floris. The uterus needs time to shrink back to its pre-pregnant size, and breastfeeding is the best and quickest way to do that.

    Maybe change the waistband on your favorite skirt? The circle skirt should have plenty of fabric for that.

    I'm telling you, second puberty is real!! I haven't given birth, but we are the same age, and in the last year or so my body has been changing shape despite no lifestyle changes. I'm facing the same reality of having to say goodbye to some of my favorite clothes. It sucks, but it's normal (even without pregnancy) and now we get to find new, flattering clothes to love

  • @windkind

    I'd also say give your body a lot more time to change, before you give away clothing you love. For me it took over two years (and weaning my toddler) until my body had settled and at that point I surprisingly I started to fit back into almost all of my pre pregnancy clothes. For most moms it doesn't take this long, from what I've heard nine months is the most common.

    On matching hangers : When baby starts to need hangers, you transfer the plastic ones to his wardrobe (he won't care for at least years) and you get new ones for yourself ;)

  • @ourtinytownhome-stead
    @ourtinytownhome-stead 3 วันที่ผ่านมา +15

    I appreciate how positive you are about the changes of your body, even when it's frustrating that some old favorites don't fit, you never seemed mad at your body for changing. That seems really healthy to me. I will say, the saying "9 months on, 9 months off" is frequently true, it can take at least as long to lose the weight as it did to gain it, and that's completely normal. Also, I read somewhere that when breastfeeding, your body naturally holds on to a little bit of extra weight because it's protective in case of a time when you might not have enough to eat or get sick, like happened throughout history a lot. Society says we should all be super skinny all the time, but the reality is that that's not how women bodies work, and that's completely healthy and reasonable. Anyway, enjoyed this video, it made me want to go reassess my own wardrobe!

  • @amybadger

    I finally broke down and bought matching hangers. It is very satisfying and because I went with the velvety ones, they actually take less room and things don't fall off. You can save the ones you're using now and use them for your son's clothing (one day)👍

    Yay! The seasonal closet re-shuffle! I love this (and the fall) video. It always motivates me to reorganize and reassess my own clothes too. If I were you, I would hold on to the favorite skirt for years before finally letting it go - it ultimately doesn't take up too much space to store and a person's body can change in lots of ways that may be long-term but not necessarily permanent and you may fit back into it years down the line and then be glad you kept it. I wouldn't do this for all clothing but my favorite skirt of all time? Yeah, I would make an exception.

    I totally understand not wanting to replace something that still works just fine, however when I recently swapped out my old hangers for matching ones, I listed them as "free" on a local selling website, and someone came to pick them up the same day! So I felt like I was helping someone out at least. And matching hangers makes my wardrobe look much less cluttered!

Haha and buy matching ones for yourself! ❤ I have slowly been replacing my hangers with the thin velvet ones (all the same color!!!) and giving mine to my youngest brother since he's getting older and starting to get more adult size clothing. My old hangers were also the plastic kind and what I could afford when I started college at 18

    I got rid of a lot of clothes postpartum I didn’t think would fit anymore, but by month four I was the same size as I was before pregnancy. It’s a long time to hold onto clothes you’re not regularly wearing, but I wish I would’ve waited to do a clean out. I am still breastfeeding (she’s ten months old) and my boobs also shrunk back to my size before! For the first six months it felt like they had a mind of their own 😂

      Donate the hangers to a thrift shop or Goodwill; they need to hang all the clothes they receive. I bought the huggable hangers in a pack; they might be Target's brand of huggable. These hangers are sturdy and thin and great for hanging clothes to dry. You will be amazed at how much space you will gain by removing the thick, bulky hangers.

    When I saw the moments every time when you couldn't close a blouse or a dress at the chest area, just thought: "Well that is my life every day, unless I don't want to wear tents..." I also used to keep my pants from high school (20 years ago!) because I always hoped to fit into them ever again, but 2 years ago I finally gave up. Most female bodies change, no matter if pregnant or not.

    I wore jeans or slacks and blouses after my babies were born. Blouses or button up sweaters are easier than dresses, well,, at least they were for me. I nursed my eldest daughter and bottle fed my youngest. I didn't like breast feeding, it was ok but she wouldn't take a bottle and I couldn't go ANYWHERE because she wouldn't take the bottle at all. Sometimes a mother HAS to go somewhere without their baby. She was very hungry all the time she wanted to eat constantly. I would give her a slurry of baby cereal and juice to fill her up which only appeased her for about an hour or an hour and a half. I fed her with a little baby spoon. I had lots and lots of milk but OMG she didn't ever want to be without my boob in her mouth. She got her first teeth in at 6 weeks and she would bite down on me. "OUCH!" It was a miserable experience. She is 49 and still LOVES to eat. She watches it though because she doesn't like to be overweight. Actually, you look fantastic. You had a baby a month or two ago and you don't look like you were pregnant. I was like that, I was 105 lbs before I became pregnant 150 just before I had her and 112 just after I had her. In about 6 months or so, I lost the extra pounds. You're breast feeding so your uterus will contract back down into its former shape faster and you will lose whatever you gained because a lot of calories goes into making milk and feeding baby. You look great though, honestly, you don't look as though you need to lose any weight at all. Congratulations again, it's nice to see how over the moon you are about being a Mommy. That is marvelous!🩷🤗

    For some of us gals, our bodies never go back to normal. So some of the lucky girls...more power to you. but don't say this is true for everyone. My chest never went back to my before size. was a triple a and am a full d cup now. Becoming a mom at almost 40 changes the weight loss game. Because you are most likely coming up on the start of menopause. I know now I was. Which makes weight loss very hard. This is for older moms, not you young ones. I at 67 have to starve myself to lose weight.

I'm completely sure you can wear those old clothes and the lovely plaid skirt again

      That’s possible but it can literally take decades and possibly not until menopause. It’s not always realistic to hang onto clothes for that long, for many people. Also they may be the same size but physiologically different shaped.
      Pregnancies can widen your hips and ribs and if you have loose skin, you can be the same “size” but not have things fit.

      I got back to basically my pre pregnancy size after a year and a half. What helped me lose the last few pounds? Nausea from being in my first trimester again. 😂 So on the one hand yes, I could have saved my pre pregnancy clothes and eventually fit into most of them again. But since I'm pregnant again, I'm glad I didn't because it will be at least a few more years until I lose the weight a second time. It could be even longer than that before I am able to wear things that aren't breastfeeding friendly. It's needlessly depressing seeing clothes that are too small in my closet. So instead I'm trying to build a wardrobe of adjustable clothes that will fit me at a range of sizes and work for nursing

    2 IDEAS!! 1) You can always donate your old hangers to a charity shop. That way, you don't feel bad, and you can buy your matching one. 2) Your favourite skirt can also be upcycled into a new garment you make like a blazer or something you'd enjoy again knowing it's the favourite skirt that no longer fits you. Food for thought ❤😅
