I live here in Spain one of the first countries hit by CV19 and for size of population one of the hardest. Long time locked down, could not even go shopping for essentials with my wife, one person only in a car and in a store. No cafes, no bars, no sitting, standing, walking without reason in the streets of town. No eating, drinking or smoking in any public place and the damned bug still kept on spreading. Only now after almost 18 months are things starting to ease up, my car done less than 2000 kilometers in 15 months, no where to go. So I heartily agree with your comments, Thankyou to the UTube regulars you mentioned. Plus in my case Plaza towing and a few similar. Helped keep me sane. Brian Williamson. Aged 79 years
Keep the stash! My wife hates it when I have one. I shaved it to keep the peace. But not before I irritated her immensely! Lol! She got over it quickly!
I’m also building a container shop, only difference is it’s going to be two high on each side. My biggest regret was not doing a full site prep before getting the containers delivered. Now I have to empty them out so I can move them completely out of the area so I can get the dozer in there. You seem to have a handle on things though. Keep up the good (dirt) work!
Haha you don’t “have” to clean them out... I drug the gray one back there with all the stuff in it....knocked my shelf over but everything survived lol
Looks good, once you're satisfied with your drainage, if you want you can drag it to smooth it out. You can make a drag out of old chain link fencing, doesn't work great but, more like works ok. LOL
Awe man. Life is good! Out there in paradise, playing with the big boy toys,,, nobody bothering ya. Got it made. Enjoy yourself Hard Rocker. There are millionaires in this world that would love to trade places with you if they could. Money can’t buy everything!! AC
You are doing a good do it yourself job . It may not go perfect , but the utility vs cost in the end is what counts for both the small guy and big guy . Drainage ,foundations and structures separate a builder from a carpenter .
As to the grading the more you do the better you will get , sometimes you just got to wait for the right conditions . Looked very good , now time for some rye grass to keep things stable.
Good to see that you have the containers slopping outwards. It would still be a smart thing to put a simple roof over them in the future, as I have seen many of them suffer from rain leaks.Aas over the years the roof will naturally sag or bow in the center.
if you got on and had a burn of the tree limbs in piles and then collect all the burnt ash and spread it over the wet ground , it will increase the heat absorbed from the sun and dry it out faster, darker the ground more it absorbs sun light faster it will dry up said ground :)
Awesome job, as always, on both the work and the video! You are getting more polished and professional in your production values as the channel goes on. I like your camera placement and editing as well. Nice to hear you describe the overall plan for the site. Gotta have a goal. I'd give some thought to cutting down that poplar tree (and maybe his adjacent buddies) sooner rather than later, but that's just me. A little more leeway is always nice. Maybe try a goatee, see if the missus will buy into that. The 'stash is...… unflattering.
I played with the draft control a bit but couldn’t seem to make it happy, when I lengthen the top link it makes the plow hang correctly but only raises a few inches off the ground and gets caught on things I’m going to play with it a bit more in the future
@@DieselCreek If you can get somewhere its level you might be able to adjust the pilot valve on the draft control to raise the draft sensing height I have not seen a close up of the hitch so my experience on the series of ih that you have may not apply, but I worked on them for a lot of years and the hydraulics are good a design.
Now even before the concrete a few loads of gravel would improve the heck out of your property. Mostly around the shop to help the water flow and mud removal.
Ever heard the term pretty as a mud road No that looks like two kinds of swell .if that's all the problems you got my friend .. thanks for doing what you do Central California watching
Something else you can try after it dries if your able to with that rear blade is flip it around backwards and drag it around it finishes dry dirt pretty nice
Where i live we have concrete and soil swales. They work well to run the water into retention ponds so water then soaks into the ground. Regarding your stach, if you keep it trimmed and conditioned maybe the mrs will tolerate it. But if you wanna make out, shave already.
Looks like you need some 3-point stabilizer bars for tractor, that will keep your blade more stable and the arms won’t drag against the tires when turning, Tractor Supply usually stocks them. Dirt work looks great!
1/4" or 3/8" steel flat bar works for a good homemade stabilizer. I've seen tractors that had (from the factory, might I add) chains with turnbuckles instead of bars to stop implement sway.
It seem you are trying to direct the Diesel Creek around the Diesel Creek shop instead of through it. Mud season creates its own problems. It may take some rain to settle the ground you are working. You may want to look for a roller to pack ground behind the tractor. Right now you can only gently guide water where you want it. As things harden up you'l be able to ditch more seriously where needed.. This is a great first pass at the problem. Good luck.
Curious why you have your container doors facing the back instead of the front? Do you plan on installing doors that open into the interior of the shop?
The area looks way better. 👍 Great effort on the tractor work. I’d be happy to help with the roof - but - I live in Melbourne, Australia. 🤪 Cheers, Jeff. 👍😀🦘
Tim from Canada here’s my suggestion for you when you were running your bulldozer you had your blade up too high you were not catching any of the mud same thing when you were running your tractor if you put the blade down you would be able to catch the mud and direct it to one side you have the option on the blade to move the dirt.... left or right from what I am seeing your plate is up to high same thing when you were running that bulldozer if you put the blade down to the ground you should be able to move that dirt no problem if you can’t figure it out go to TH-cam this is what I see
I have been married 40 years, Got married young. Still don't understand women : ) I had a beard when we dated and married . Then all at once wife didn't like the beard. I am old school, good or bad not sure, but I kept the beard and stayed married. Great job on your land. Has always Liked, shared. All my best.
Hey Hard Rocker, old good looking international sounds good. But there ain’t but one kinda tractor to get it done. It’s Green. LOL. Just some humor for ya. AC
Might be just the way the camera shot it, but the front mounting points of the blade should be vertical. You need to wind out your top link a heap. Just from personal experience anyway
Matt why not on that big pile of concrete to scrape off that mud and then take those big pieces on put the big pieces then smaller then cover with more concrete why not install 4" plastic courrageted pipe and move the water away and by the storage containers put a metal grating over and use landscape fabric to stop the mud but there less chance to damage it as even putting a rack to put the shovel buckets maybe find a dead semi truck that could be fabercated to put I beams and beams across but we can spray the buckets with alight coat of used oil screened in or linseed oil and a tarp put all buckets are on the shelf and we look for a few worn ones for special needs buckets
Not to be a nitpicker, but I think the word your looking for is : "SWALE" (sounds like: 'SAIL'), a 'SWELL' would be a location that is loaded with water, making the soft mud you were hoping to avoid. [Sorry, it was bugging me each time I heard it...I knew what you meant, though...] otherwise, great job & choice with the tractor, it looks great now!
I'm not a builder or landscaper so please forgive the stupid question: Would it have been easier/better to prepare the ground before placing the shipping containers? Could a slightly elevated area have been formed? Anyway, loved the video. Thanks for sharing!
yes and no, the site work was rushed so I could get the building done before winter but i was anticipating having to do all this anyway, its not really a big deal to do this.
(2:23) "Nothing says spring like the smell of dirt and diesel fuel." Matt, that's right up there with Nothing like the smell of napalm in the morning.😂. The International is old, but it shows you can't kill a well maintained Diesel engine. What's the plan for the floor in the container barn, gravel or cement? And Mrs. Matt, let him keep his quarantine facial hair. Most guys hate to shave every day. Matt, you and yours stay healthy and safe and I look forward to your next episode. Cheers from a bearded fellow in Tennessee.❤️👍😷🍻✌️
If they loose tension when you lift then they are mounded on the tractor incorrectly. But I could see in the Video that they were moving while you were working the blade.

Yesterday, I thought, a short few seconds from your channel showed up on my You Tube feed. You showed a few seconds and said you were back at your "junk yard" with a burning pile of trees and you said you could finally see your tractor. You started the clip showing what you said was an old partially buried in forest debris a 29 Ford Pickup Model A or T and another in the back ground. I posted a comment but I can't find that short clip anywhere. I suggested you might look up a fellow You Tuber "Jonathan W" down in Cameron NC. He's been posting a lot of videos of his rod building projects, both 30ish roadsters and another he just started is cobbled together early stage random 29 Ford body parts, he's wanting it to be a pickup. I couldn't find your clip to see if you noticed my comment. I'm sure Jonathan would be interested if you and he aren't too far away from each other. He's saved a lot of old iron from the crusher. If you are interested in those two old chassis being saved for something worthwhile instead of totally disappearing into the ground. Just curious! If I had found your clip I was going to go back and copy the url and message it to Jonathan.
It’s not my junk yard just the one I go to, the other clip of the fire was my place, those were on my story. I saw your comment just haven’t had the time to respond, I’m in western PA not much left of those old cars
