    Folks who’ve never operated a dozer have no clue how hard it is to grade like this without porpoising......you are a “human laser”👏

    I've been doing what you do for more than 40 (coming closer to 50) years. (Here comes your "aw shucks" moment) I see you as the 2nd best operator I've ever seen; the best being the guy who took me under his wing and taught me so many years ago. If I ever managed to get out your way (I'm in the northwest), I can't imagine anything I'd rather do than spend a little time working with you (off camera) just for the sheer fun of it.

    I'll bet all the rain we've had helps in a situation like this. If the water runs, you have the grade you need. If it puddles, you have more to do.

    ok, so I am gonna ask and maybe someone has a good answer for me .... why leave the ditch run through the field and create an obstacle and separation, rather than filling it in and relocating it to the edge of the property, running it along the dirt path? Then it would be out of the way and you have an uninterrupted property.

    • @arkansas1336
      @arkansas1336 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @Silent Epsilon.... The drainage was existing and must remain as witnessed by the road department when they placed a culvert under the road at that location.

    • @brianwebber7168
      @brianwebber7168 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Water takes the path of least resistance. The farmer wouldn't gain anything. Your plan would cost 10's of thousands more. There is probably at least one government agency they would need permission from. Drainage district, Department of Conservation. Etc. Etc.

      Agricultural Soil Conservation and Stabilization Board would never approve of moving a waterway from its natural path. They get a little frazzled when you try to straighten up the waterways or even if you disturb the grasses or cover on a waterway here in Iowa

    I am curious to know how and why the county or state government (whichever entity is the case here) is allowed to drain area water across and through privately owned land. Especially so, when such land is being farmed by the landowner and who pays both county and state taxes on/for that land. Property taxes, of which a portion is to be used to control area standing and/or running water to be properly drained away from his land by the government agency which is designed to perform such duties. It would be my opinion that the government should drain the water via a ditch running along either side of the roadway, which is government-owned property and not diverted across private property. The land designed swale which you created to drain the water appears as having been done for the convenience of a non-code compliance government, at the expense of the property owner. Thus, costing the landowner both financially as well as suffering the permanent loss of the land its self, land which belongs to him and which he is being taxed upon as the owner thereof.
