If normal hunters can barely take the normal mid-level mainline monsters, you have to wonder what the in-universe explanation is for how "we didn't all just drop dead upon arrival" in the lands of Frontier, where even the f@#king chosen one main character ED slayer Hunter needs multiple layers of "desperately trying not to die" equipment just to barely survive. Basically, I'm asking if anyone can think of any non-plot necessity reasons for how anyone survived long enough to build a shack, let alone an entire Guild, before the superhuman main hero showed up.
My guess is that the frontier is where they send THE best of the best in the monster hunter world. Not just the guys who can take on a teostra, kirin or other starting elder dragons, we're talking the kind both strong and crazy enough to face the higher tiers of elder dragons and come out victorious. Also you have to take note that as a mmo, frontier has a greater focus in full teams of hunters hunting each monster, so I imagine that unlike the single player storylines of main monster hunter games it not so much about you being a single hunter dealing with everything but more helping out with other hunters.
In my mind the majority of Frontier isn't really canon to the main Monster Hunter universe, its its own thing. Because basically everything in Frontier is designed in a different way from mainline MH games (more team focus). It also creates tonal inconsitcies in the rest of MH. Like why isn't the entire world constantly in danger from all these insanely powerful monsters? How come none of these insanely powerful hunters showed up to fight Fatalis or any other endgame threat? You can only say "they are busy with other stuff" so many times. Outside of the monsters they port over to the main games, I am going to imagine the vast majority of Frontier to be non-canon and instead its own thing, where everything is this insane.
This monster, super crazy light rathalos, and Unknown in a duo quest would be the most absolutely terrifying battle since Duremudira, Ultimate White Fatalis and Keoarubaru combined

well it can't be as bad as the moogle uprising that drove the cactuar to escape to the monster hunter universe. little did they know, diablos was prepared for their arrival. no joke, on the official site during MHW's marketing cycle there was a description of dablos saying he stalks his prey waiting for their movement. this is not a retcon, yes he eats cactus but it was totally cactuar foreshadowing.

So the Apex monsters in Rise have the same black / purple and red glow as the coffin and withered roots in the Citadel. Plot point, maybe? Perhaps the Apexes moved from the Kingdom of Sunbreak to Kamura?

They need to get extremely lucky because defense enhancing features don't work in those quests. Which Josh has been using a lot. Also reaching the final rage mode isn't an easy task. I'm curious myself to see them manage it or even struggle with the Magnet Spike. Same thing with Shiten Dhisufiroa. I already know how that story would end, lol.

Calling Zerureusu a Rathalos is like calling Radobaan an Uragaan.
