I have used these for years on my Taofleder Shotgun as well as my HD shotgun. Best option around in this guy’s opinion. 😎👍. -OG, the Taofledermaus Channel
Jack VanSchoyck Definitely. I’ve watched On Target for years. Long before he was an Oregonian. Good tips and training. Be safe out there man. th-cam.com/users/Tahow7798
I have a fixed shell holder on my M500A but my new go to is the velcro shot shell carrier from mesa. Much easier to reload by slapping another card on and keep moving.
Thanks for watching. I agree the Velcro attached shell caddy is for faster to use then a fixed holder. Thanks for commenting. I hope you will subscribe to the channel.
These have been around for a WHILE and they work better then most of what’s out there and much lighter to carry then the bolt on carriers and the bolt carriers shell holders generally weaken over time which causes the shell to fall out or loose fit
I have 2 of everything and 30 or so of others. I have an SOE micro shotgun rig, a 36 shell carrier made from 6 cards and a triple mag pouch. I have 2 16 round carriers, 2 25 rounders and an 18 rounder. I have 6,7,8,9 shot cards. I can configure easily 72 shells just using the triple mag pouch and 6 9 shoters. I can use any or all of the above with a plate carrier and a battle belt. 67 plus my gun is what I usually train with.
Excellent choices. I also have a shot shell belt that holds 25 rounds and I use that for training and teaching. Sounds like you got multiple set ups with all kinds of redundancy which I really like. Thank you for watching and commenting. I hope you will subscribe and share it with friends and family.
Using it on the 930 SPX for four years. Works great. Yes the SPX eats any ammo I've fed without issue. I'll be doing a comparison between the SPX and the Beretta in the coming weeks.
For the shotgun pictured in the opening seconds of this video, how would you attach a sling to it? It looks like there's only a rear clip-on for a sling but not one in front.
I get that these are used in classes and competitions. Are there known incidents of a shooter reloading their tube-fed shotgun from gun-mounted cards/carriers in an actual fight/massacre/hunt?
I heard from use, that the velcro which is stationary on the gun, starts to come off. I had a friend super-glue it back on. But that is sort of ruining your shotgun. So going back and forth between the velcro and the hard shell holder.
I have used the type of shot shell holder as shown in this video for a number of years. I put it through several heavy duty training classes and I’ve never had a problem with it. I find it interesting that someone felt they had to superglue it on. Sounds like they’re using the wrong type of backing and also I have not cleaned the shotgun prior to and hearing the adhesive part to the frame.
@@GunsGearOnTargetTrainingLLC i know links are no longer allowed, but how about mentioning the brand you use? and i assume these come with the appropriate/recommended adhesive. if not, what kind of adhesive did you use?
I’ve had the same problem. It’s not just cleaning the surface. When you clean and oil the shotgun some oil and solvent weeps through the holes the pins are in and the Velcro peels. This system works if you never clean or lubricate your shotgun.
Man, I had some extra mag pouches from a body armor package deal I got a while back and I had no idea what to do with them. Thank you for that glorious idea.
Elijah, spoken like a man who knows a shotgun. I couldn’t agree with you more, shot shell cards are by far the most effective way to carry ammunition. I love the fact that when that card has expanded all is ammunition it is simply stripped away allowing me to add a new fully charge card to the shotgun. I appreciate you watching and commenting. I hope you will subscribe to the channel.

Which brand of shotgun cards are those in the video? I have some of the esstac ones and they curl when loaded which eventually peels the velcro off my shotgun.
Sorry to hear that, I've got some from esstac and some from US Grunt gear. Used them in several classes about both are holding up fine. Thanks for commenting. Hope you'll subscribe.
Rust on the parkerized receiver of my Scattergun Technologies shotgun is an issue with the polymer shell holder that came with the shotgun. Now I’m about to cover the receiver with velcro loop after removing the rust. Instead of a coating the receiver with a rust preventative, I’m instructed to clean the area with alcohol. This seems to be counterintuitive. Comments?
Thanks for watching incoming. The reason to use alcohol is to make sure that you get the surface you’re attaching the adhesive to clean. So yes, you do want to use rubbing alcohol and clear the area where the sticky part of the Velcro is attached to the shotgun. I’m a big fan of the shot cards as a better way to attach extra shells to the shotgun and I have other tabs available simply to throw on the side of the shotgun when you expand the ones you have in the current cabinet. It’s very efficient. Thanks for watching and commenting I hope you will subscribe to the channel.
I'm not sure of the grade of elastic that's used. You're correct that with the right fabric and sewing tools this cards wouldn't be hard to make. Thanks for commenting and watching. I hope you'll subscribe.
Thanks for watching. For me the side of the stock is a problem if you have to transition to your non-dominant side. Seen plenty of guys suffer in advanced SG classes when we did bilateral shooting. The folks with shotshells holders on their stock suffered badly bruised cheeks and jaws when transitioning to their non-dominant side. I encourage people to learn to shoot in a way that will allow you to use any cover (learn to shoot with both hands and arms and both eyes open).
No issues with any of the cards I've used. Sure after hundreds of shells in and out they will wear but so far mine are holding up great. I've shot a couple thousand rounds during practice sessions since I''ve had this set up on the Mossberg 930SPX. The tabes and velcro are holding up fine.
Many thanks for watching and commenting. I think it depends on the type of shell caddy or carrier you were using. I’ve never had a shell fall out of one of the carriers that I use but suppose it is possible. The way I carry my shells is about dealing with my physical handicap and allowing me to reload the shotgun as fast as possible given my abilities. Thanks so much for taking the time to comment and I hope you will subscribe to the channel.
Thanks for watching. Yes you can find aggressive Velcro with adhesive and try this on the frame of your shotgun. I recommend cleaning the frame with alcohol to make sure there’s no oil residue. Once that’s dry try the Velcro. Keep in mind the tabs are often sold with Velcro backing. I hope this helps.
David, thank you for watching and commenting. As someone who lived in Rhode Island for a number of years, I am extremely disheartened to see the lurch toward the progressive left. Unfortunately, second amendment rights are being stripped away throughout the country. Many people on the other side are well-intentioned, but they simply do not understand the law, nor do they understand the right of self-defense is a God-given right. Even if someone doesn’t believe in God, they should at least understand that we should not have to die at the hands of someone else, because we do not have the tools to be able to defend ourselves. Any student of history can see how tyranny always starts by disarming the citizens.
That’s fine until you have to shift the gun to your non-dominant side. From a defensive standpoint you need to be able to shoot with you either dominant or nondominant hand. Having this on the butt stock is a sure way to beat up your face.
Is there a specific advantage to the three pieces of velcro, one large and two small you affixed to the shotgun? Considering how to apply to Mossberg 500.
No specific advantage. I had limited backing when I attached this a few years ago. However, I've used a fulll strip of backing on my Beretta 1310 T. Booth work well.
Everyone allways leaves out fanny pack. They are small and can carry alot of shells and is eastly to load out the pouch I have 78 rounds all together in my load out. 7 plus 1 in shot gun 5 in side saddle 5 in buttstock 50 buck and 10 slug in small black fanny pack.
Sir, thank you for sharing your perspective. The reason I feel it’s important to be able to shoot any shoulder mounted weapon bilaterally is because the operator has more flexibility and potentially greater use of cover, depending on which side of the cover he needs to shoot from. If I only shoot from my dominant side, that means depending on the cover, I would have to expose more of my upper body to incoming fire. Transitioning to the non-dominant side I can use cover more effectively because I’m not limited to shooting from one side only. Secondly, I’ve shot this shotgun and other semi automatic shotguns without a support hand. While it’s not ideal, it’s certainly doable. For me, mounting the shell card on the side of the frame is a simply more flexible option versus mounting it on the stock. Again, everyone has opinions on what works best. At the end of the day it all comes down to training, practice, and proficiency. Thanks again for commenting. Stay safe.
Sir, thank you for watching and commenting. I’ve used this set up in multiple classes and for my home defense set up as well. The great thing about shot shell cards, is there easy to slap on the side and strip them off as soon as they’re empty. When the shotgun has eight rounds in it and another seven on its side, it’s not heavy at all from my perspective. And I’m a handicapped guy with a bad hand and arm. I figure if I can put up with the little teeny bit of added weight it works. Anyway, that’s just my perspective. I do appreciate you taking the time to comment and hope you will check out some of our other content on the channel and subscribe if you find it interesting. All the best and stay safe.
In self defense, you will probably only exchange lead for seconds or minutes. The weapon weight wont really be an issue if you are fit and healthy. There were little guys carrying 10kh weapons in ww2.
