Been there. But just a word of caution, Karpathos is the windiest place I have ever been to. It can blow 30+knots for days. I have never seen the sea, as an onshore onlooker, as I have, in Karpathos. Its mental. So, the serene scenes are a little bit misleading if in "season". Also, getting to Karpathos, by plane means you have to connect from Crete to a commuter propeller plane ...and finally, the station is German run...if you cannot hack the structured approach, and disciplined outlook, you should think twice.
