- This is not a Yokohama ADVAN car. We were pleased to get the in-car footage to promote time attack / super lap racing. This is the new benchmark time attack car. Well done Garage Revolution for building and tuning it. Christian T Hansen, Marketing Manager Yokohama Australia.

@EleganceAutoDetails Thanks for the information. TH-cam & magazines is the only sources where I get my time attack news!! Anything below 1 minute mark is consider fast there, these damn things are stupid crazy fast. Can't wait to see who's the next king of Tsukuba!!!

@srrtbb Someone who posted just after you mentioned the ARTA NSX, which is why I included it in my response. The ARTA NSX is a JGTC car, making it a "race only" car, which did not retain it's STOCK chassis. Although the RX-7 looks like a JGTC car, it still has it's full stock chassis technically making it still a "street car:" There are many track records, it simply depends on what category. An F1 car would simply run 37-42 seconds on Tsukuba (My guess)

Amazingly fast, really impressive to see that thing fly over Tsukuba. Sounds nice as well, a 3-rotor I guess?
This car is sick... and still has a lot of room for improvement on the setup becase this is the only second time at the track

It's still a long way though, Japan's GT cars are extremely fast, more so than the European GT machines. The ARTA NSX's restricted to 500hp, and it clocked a 51.8 in Tsukuba.

Nice, almost beat the Tsukuba record holder HKS EVO 53.589 with a RWD....impressive!!!!!
Damn cool sounding, looking and performing car! I would just love to have one of these as a daily driver, I could cry of laughter thinking about the faces that the "regulars" would have or even the cops! Although, my adventure would end facing the reality of trafic jams, poor quality roads and the curse of Europe, SPEEDBUMPS!
Some people need to get 2 things straight . Firstly the evo is only 1 second faster not 2 seconds . Secondly the nsx is on slick tyres but this rx7 is only on semi slick tyres . Production chassis wise this car is still using the original skeleton of the body but to strengthen it here n there . Dont complain if ur rival can get so low timing .
The evo is actually about 0,1 second faster and the arta nsx 1,7s faster and you are absolutely right about the tires. Time attack cars only run semi slicks for some reason. The fastest ever time is 46.935 in a formula nippon but it's not the same category at all...

No the JGTC race cars prior to 2003 used the stock street chassis. Like any race car including this RX7 it went through chassis modifications. The 2002 ARTA NSX was used because it was an ACTUAL NA-2 production chassis. Tsuchiya wanted set a record with a production car chassis. The years after 2003 teams were allowed custom chassis as long as the race car LOOKED liked the production car.

@gav240z just google search revolution rx7. If i remember it uses a crossported 13b, HKS to4z making around 450hp, they say that if it ran slicks instead of semislicks it would easily be able to handle the 500+ range its capable of putting down and possibly beat the gt500 arta nsx's time

@srrtbb HKS' website states they are at 54.739 and the ARTA NSX is a JGTC car, not a "street production chassis" car. So, for now, the Revolution RX-7 is currently the fastest.

I think if Mine's were too make a Track prepped R34, they would have the Tsukuba record. The Original Mine's R34 GTR clocks in at 57 sec in full street trim.

@Law19157 actually most of the top cars are rwd, and most of them are fds, with the notable exceptions being the hks evo, cyber evo and tomei/cusco impreza.
@masrider555 not sure what youre saying mate. the hks ct230r ran 53.589. this ran 53.6xx, with less hp, with rear wheel drive. also how can you not love the sound of that semi PP? its brutal :D

@dorio180 An fd owner looked into it to have one that was made for the fd when in japan. It had something to do with the fact you have to use a shipping crate because of the size to import it to US. might have been a bit less than 15k LOL got excited but its pretty much your first born child

If the Rx7 were running Advans instead of Hankooks, there's a chance it could have performed better. Keep that in mind when comparing the HKS evo to the Revolution FD
Wow. I have been a around rotaries for a long time but this thing sounds different. Does not sound like 2 rotor 3 rotor nor 4 rotor. Maybe it's the video sound.
@xraidedlok Are you bloody serious mate? 54.7 fastest? what year are you from? The HKS posted an official time in 2008 of 53.589 sec. This Revolution Rx7 posted a 53.673 sec lap time.

IMO, I got more respect for the HKS Evo since its on its production chassis. This car is so close to a GT500 car.

@SinHarvest64 the CT230r could MOST CERTAINLY have gone faster with more development, NO DOUBT.

The CT230r is not the running King of TimeAttack any more, it has some records that have been hard to topple since its retirement, but there are cars running in 2011 that have the potential to topple it. They are all Evos, lol, but still, there are more capable cars, finally. The CT230r has been GOD for a long time.
issues with the strain guage in the sequential shifter? looks like he has 2 bites at changing gears down the back straight?
Either way, great lap. Hope its allowed to run in Aus.

track was built in 1970 this is the fastest lap ever.

The production chassis excuse already is old. The HKS Evo isn't even close to a "street car." Not even remotely, if anything it's on it's production chassis so it can use that excuse. If the car follows the rules and regs of the race it's in, than it's legit. If to cars are in the same power class, ie unlimited, modded, street, etc, than you can compare them. Plus any car that sounds that good is a winner in my book.
Also it's about damn time rotaries started winning/breaking records again.

@madmestesoskillz well said, this is BS as far a "new benchmark"..... the CT230r still holds... and just wait for the current build Cyber Evo to run at full bore, or SSE's crazy evo.... the CT230r's record will fall at some point soon, but I bet HKS has something in the works.

Not much RX-7 left in that thing. Still more impressive when streetable cars are breaking 1:00, which are all Skylines and Evos.

this rx7 is not just any rx7 it's very much not an rx7 at all it's just a shell if anything

It's not the fastest lap ever. HKS still holds the record. It is the fastest for a RWD time attack car. It is also not a 3 rotor. It is a 13b turbo. I think it will be the fastest TA car overall pretty soon though.

Keiichi Tsuchiya, AKA drift king, I believed have the fastest time on the circuit... .51 sec
Eventually using the excuse, "this car is using it's production chassis" will get old...
