    Thank you very much Sir for this invaluable historic information. Being a student of science, I'm getting interest to learn partition history from your lectures and book on Jinnah. I bought that book from Park Street, Kolkata last year.

    It’s amazing that people who wanted partition were oblivious of the tragedy which would unfold thereby!

    The partition of Punjab and Bengal was a human tragedy, so much of human blood was shed . Why the leaders of those days couldn’t foresee it ?? Were they blind or what they achieved worth it ??

    My grandparents moved from Rasul Pur Village in Ferozpur to Kasur district. Since my childhood, I have heard many life stories from my grand maa and always thought about how difficult it was for them to leave a place to leave their fatherland forever. May their soul rest in peace.

    once again such a tragic vlog and sometimes we new generations believe that nobody wanted partition but only british and muslim leaders. but sir you didn’t mentioned about the role of American Army in indian subcontinent during those days because once i saw a vlog where someone was also telling that there were american troops also in india who were helping british

    All in all, partition was unavoidable, but such madness where everybody became a killer should not have happened. Even worse than that, what is tragic is that Hindus and Muslims who remained in harmony for centuries became, more or less, permanent enemies of each other. Recent provocative statements from some Muslims from Bangladesh are indicative of that inborn animosity. Is there a solution to that, now or in future, probably NOT. My grandfather used to be a cloth broker in Delhi and used to host Muslim merchants from erstwhile Afghanistan as well as now Pakistan and spoke of friendly nature of Muslims who were his clients.

    Not to put any pressure on your shoulders respectfully 'Sir', always wanted to ask you would ever be interested in doing specific research or even a book on the partition of Bengal as in Punjab. I know research requires a resources and access. I know you are getting on now with age which I hope keeps your great self healthy and with us to a 100.
    Albeit this is why I don't know 😢 whether you'll ever be able to take up this project. This is a genuine "greek tragedy" for me since i enjoyed greatly you style of writing.
    Thanks

      I am working on the partition of Bengal but the source material is not as vast as on Punjab. For example, I could not find original documents on the arguments put before the Bengal Boundary Commission. Only Joya Mukherjee has written an article about it and that is all.

      A request. Is it possible to find the original written memorandum in full submitted to Boundary Commission by ML, Congress and Sikh sides. I searched through Internet but all that was found are the individual report of the members of the Commission and the final Award itself.

    Sir what is your take on pathankot given to india?? Is there any conspiracy as it connects with jammu and kashmir to give india access to Kashmir

    • @Billumian47
      @Billumian47  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      No conspiracy, all such suspicions are groundless.

    • @shuvadeeplahiri
      @shuvadeeplahiri 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Pathankot tehsil was a non-Muslim-majority tehsil of Gurdaspur district as per 1941 census. And that majority was quite substantial.

      That was a minor change because Myanmar was not in the Subcontinent and the British had only administratively brought it into the Indian system.

    Respected sir,
    The problem with Pakistan or Bangladesh is religion.
    They have adopted step religion, same as step father..
    Religion is making them voilent and poor.
    Bangladeshi or Pakistani were hindu, return home don't become Somalia.
    Step religion is heading towards Somalia.
    Jay bharat.

    • @Billumian47

      The 69 members of the Pakistan Constituent Assembly were those who had been elected to the Constituent Assembly of India but now they belonged to areas which were given to Pakistan. As a result Congress Hindu members of East Bengal were also members of the Pakistan Constituent Assembly. They left however because in 1948 and again in 1950 they were attacked in East Pakistan and more than 10 thousand were killed.
