watching you always makes me feel better about myself. i .f u.ed a lot, got off rout a lot, and was always critical of myself. so nice to see you and your lovely partner do the same. this was my favorite peak of the 14 thousanders by far. got stopped by bad weather twice, climbed the false peak as you did and and finally made it on the fourth try with my daughter and lady doctor friend.. now i am too old to do it again almost 79. you got balls and grit. do it again...
Was in Dusy Basin twice. Tried to get to Knapsack Pass once. Didn't make it. I think I left the main trail heading south too soon. All boulders. Great video. Dusy Basin is one of my favorite locations.
The GPS helped a lot. We lightly winged-it, just aiming for the pass. Were you planning to go into the Palisade Basin or just to get above Knapsack Pass?
@@outerskirtshiking8141 Did you pass a weather station by the Bishop Pass Trail before you headed to Knapsack Pass? I have a permit for this month to try again.
Thunderbolt Pass is clearly the way to go from Bishop Pass to Palisade Basin. The traverse is mostly easy. You cannot reasonably avoid losing about 200 feet as you traverse. Trying to stay higher takes you through ugly talus higher up. As you approach the Pass, you gain 600 feet up relatively easy slabs and slopes. The last bit is rocky. I have camped once right at the Pass. Other times I have dropped down 400 feet to nice camping that it also a great base camp for climbing. It's a great place.
@@dennismorgan2303Split is easy class 2. I don't think it belongs in the same club as the NorPal peaks (other than all being 14ners) , except for Sill, although I haven't done the NorPal peaks except for Sill.
been watchin your videos as I prep for my CA 14ers. one humble request, for each climb, would you mind post your route for each climb? This will provide more contexts. Much appreciated.
Request acknowledged! When you say post the route, what do you mean exactly? - In the description, text in the video, specifically saying it in the video, a map, an animation? Which peak will you start with, if you haven't already? Hope to hear about your journey!
Thanks for the reply. A route picture or map in the video will add so much value. And maybe a short video going over how do you train and what's in the pack most of the climb. For example, you did explain some in the video of mt Williamson.
@@kenlee2374 Of course and, gotcha. I took a peek at map animation tutorials and would like to add them into future videos. Maybe, maybe not the next one though (Middle Palisade, trying to get it out asap for someone's upcoming trip). As for a video going over my personal prep routine and usual gear - sure thing. Aiming for - within the next few videos. -Just reviewed the Williamson trip - note taken. I'm a bit (a lot) behind on editing but definitely have more stuff I'd like to get out. I appreciate the suggestions and if you have any more or questions, please let me know!
Artie, all your climbing videos of the 14ers are excellent and present such a good adventure to watch. You are a good story teller, minimalist, and very entertaining. You put a lot of effect into each one with route planning, filming, and editing. A gem on TH-cam. How do you get your wife or girlfriend Vivie to come with you with all the exposure? Remarkable. Congratulations on completing all 15. Kind Regards Bob
It was a hell of a journey (and just the beginning!). As far as Viv tagging along, I guess I'm just a lucky duck. Happy you like the videos. I really do appreciate all the feedback. Thanks Bob
man, you surely know how to do things the hard way... it took me 3 attempts to climb starlight. first attempt bad storm hit.. second attempt with my son we climbed the same false peak as you and did not down climb and re attempt don't know why?? third attempt "bingo" with my daughter she is a tough girl who never whines or gives up just like your little girlfriend you both are amazing ..people do not how much courage it takes to just keep going.. i have all the 14ers. how about you?? see my logo..do you recognize.??? the milk bottle.
Thanks for taking us along. What have you been up to recently? Wishing you both happy and safe adventures.

Awesome vid. Those dirty ledges, with exposure, made me nervous. Hate thar stuff...
Luckily there's many places to hold 👍
That was thoroughly enjoyable. Thank you!
Glad it was pleasurable, Tyson. Thanks for subscribing!
Amazing cinematic 4K!
Thanks! Last couple trips I ditched the DSLR and used an ol' iphone SE 2 - works pretty well and is much lighter 👍
Love the videos man, another great trip
