Thanks to your video, I get it now!! I do my own dip powder nails, and I’ve been trying to find the easiest way for me to do ombré/baby boomer/French fade nails. So I dip my nail into the white a couple/few times, THEN brush on the darker color. I was doing it the other way around, dipping into the darker color first, then trying to brush on the white. When you dip into the white first, then brush on the darker color, the darker color almost “stains the white”, creating that ombré effect 😅😍
Rita Olivares yes!! That’s pretty much the idea! Trust me.. I did A LOT of experiments trying to figure this one out. Many swatch sticks were injured and/or sacrificed for our education and future success in the dip ombré effect.

Marla, you do a better job that most "licensed" techs you might find in local nail salons. If this is what unlicensed/non-pros are capable of doing...sign me up!

Thaís Medeiros I’ve considered trying that.. you’d probably have to use a pigmented pink, as opposed to a more sheer pink. If you try it, let me know how it works!!
Yes it would. Kiara sky made a video showing exactly that! It came out nice. Just do the whole nail in whichever color is lightest, then use the brush scrub method for the second color.
I literally JUST did a mani doing the scrub ombré but scrubbing at the cuticle.. calling it the backwards scrub. That vid should be uploading within the next 2 weeks!! Thanks for the suggestion 💕
So I did your tap-tap technique and I got my brush too close to the base gel. So now my brush has hard clumps of dry base gel and acrylic on it. How would you recommend I clean it? Also, thank you for your videos!
Sierra Beamer Thank you 😍 I’m using triple vitamin base, kiara Sky activator, and Aimeili no wipe gel top coat. I know it’s a menagerie, but that’s the magical combo that works for me! (On MY nails, I also use Kiara Sky bond.. it’s a dehydrator)
When you do the in-between topcoat to protect the ombré design from buffing do you also use activator at that time? Or just topcoat and then base coat, then the second round of ombré and lastly, activator and top coat?
Tracy Velisek it’s not a “top coat” but it’s a clear dip. I activate after the clear dip and file. Once filing is compete, you could activate again and use dip top coat or you can skip the activator and use a gel or polish top coat

I’ll be doing a “mystery box” from revel swatch vid today or tomorrow, so stay tuned for that! I also be demoing some other company’s dip powder soon too. Elena Yaguez I have a few tricks for that. 1- I don’t buff the top of my nails. 2- I apply the gel polish over the cuticle line so it’s slightly on my natural nail at the cuticle. 3- cap the edges really well. Hope this helps!! TYFW! 💕
