Cheers Ollie, glad you enjoyed it.
From the moment we tipped the powder in the first bucket to the final polish was 4 hours.
Now usually if we did that in two separate hits...
      1. Big ceiling
      2. Two small ceilings
It would of taken 6 hours so by rolling your gauges it gets you done faster.
I personally don't do this every day because I like to sit and chill between trowels but I did work like this for about a year.
The most I ever did was a 17 or 18 bag day.
      7am until around 5:30pm
I wasn't hard work and I just plodded on all day but I didn't have a single moment to take a break.
It's not fun but it is possible 🤷‍♂️
To be fair if you went faster you could get loads more done but how much money do you need for one day 💰🤪😂

@@Onthetrowel that’s impressive that I’ve done 155 meter ceiling in a day 12 bags but did it in 3 separate hits and that was my limit I’ll try it your way next time 👍

Absolute legend , thank you for doing this I’ve been asking on the forums if anyone will put a vid up of how you do this for yonks!. I work on my own mostly and I’d rather be home spending time with my kids but you know the pressure builders can put on you to get m2 on sometimes it’s stressful . If I can do this I will be home at a reasonable hour and make some (LESS STRESS) ££’s .

Worked on over 250m² in a 1890th building and used 4x42-25kg sacks. Plastered 9 slooping ceilings, thats a hell of a job putting thirst layer netting 2,20m long. One room was 4 meters height with 2 slooping ceilings which I had to plaster on a aluminium stand shaky as he'll. I worked for a friend to get into the job. I like your wet trowel technique, in Germany it's not usual, They use here the sponge. In my opinion the wet trowel is more smooth to handle and not that much sweating as to work with the sponge. The best way to work is the clean and smooth way. Thank you for sharing your technique, it's nice to compare. In my opinion the technique depends on the weather and how fast the plaster harden, as you showed it in a video where you had to wait to scrape walls outside a house and did a ceiling meantime and ate with your workers. Much respect to your work ethics and technique, I would call it the English way- as usual showed the whole world how it has to be done.

Kirk, my first plastering job for a builder was to skim 13ft high walls. Used a rollling gauge , started on scaffolding and two coated the top half of the wall and finished by feathering the edge. Took away scaffold and did the bottom half and made sure I had plenty of PVA on the join and used water when blending in. Used the same technique on large ceilings. Comes up a treat. Not sure if I’ll have the nerve to try your technique, another great vid!

I used to roll sets but stopped after a few houses. You do get through some meterage but for me I like to have a break. I just use half time or extra time now

Kirk Is there a reason you don't use a board and stand ? What about stilts ? What about joints if you've got 1 big ceiling 🤔 great vids by the way 👍

Here do you water down SBR? Got some Sika there but seemed a bit thick from the can, so mixed it 50/50

18 bags. Mate I'm 55, had elbow surgery, knee surgery, a hernia op and a heart attack. I don't do 18 bags in a week.🤭 Joking aside, although all I've said is true, rolling gauges are the way to go and is what I tend to do most of the time here in France as the gear I use is the same that you float and set with. Just got to keep an eye on your thicknesses and backgrounds.

You need a switched on mixer snd cleaner upper for this and one who knows his quantities plus those speed skims will save so much time as youre not up n down on a hop up plus less tired as youre flatting from the floor.
In this 3 ceiling example what was the start to finish time excluding sheeting out and the clearing up???

Kirk you absolute madman... the prospect of having multiple sets on the go is terrifying to me! I'd love to be able to even do one ceiling, but I bet my shoulders would be dead. You must have Olympian fitness!
I see you pointed out the bad fat in this vid. Will you show the good stuff you can use to fill in another vid? Or are you planning a more in depth video on both good and bad anyway?
Sorry, another question... the cleaning of the ceiling line around the 27 min mark, is that the only time you need to mess with cleaning ceiling lines and angles up, when the set is finished?

Just finished the vid. World class buddy. The Messi of plastering! You turned those three hideous old artex ceilings into glass with razor sharp ceiling lines! Majestic!

Great work! Im a start up in plastering and i get dimples in my plaster i think it could be air bubbles. Whats the best way to avoid that from happening and why do you think its happening? Thanks in advance!

Hey mate, I get them sometimes, uts the background that your going over, you will get them less if you use sbr but don't worry about them, they just trowel out. Sometimes you just need to give it an extra hard trowel at the end

@OnThetrowel is it possible to use a rolling gauge on a single large ceiling? I am not a professional but I work on my own and have some large walls and ceilings to do. Thank you Chris
