Thanks Key Fob Rob. That was spot on. I had bought a 2012 MDX back in Feb 2020 (right before Covid exploded). Apparently, the batteries in the key fobs had never been replaced since the car was brand new. So, even though it would unlock the doors and tailgate, it was hit and miss on the driver settings, especially moving the steering column back into position. I checked the old battery with my tester and it was way into the red. So far 🤞 the new battery seems to have corrected that behavior. My theory is it takes minimal power to open and close the locks, but once you insert the key to transmit which user you are takes much more, and the battery is temporarily drained at this point. Sorry to make this so long, but I have seen so many MDX owners complain about the steering column issue.
Hi, you’re video is great. My experience trying to do this, not so much. A little conductor metal piece came out where the battery goes. I’m not sure how it fits back on. It’s shaped like a long T with a rectangular middle and approx .75 inches long. Anyone know of this piece and how it goes? TIA
KFR! What a beauty DIY... helped me tonnes. Do you have any advice for the same switchblade style key, but the key doesnt sit flush inside the housing anymore?
Glad it was helpful. There are some plastic notches on the blade itself that wear out over time. Your best bet is likely to pick up an aftermarket remote but the dealership will need to cut the blade. You can program it yourself - ebay.us/IT5i6l
@@KeyFobRob Thanks for confirming., I tore it down roght after asking that and assumed the exact same thing. Good to know. I'll look into getting a replacement 👍
It worked for about an hour, and now it's reverting to the original issue. My alarm is going off at random. The only time my alarm goes off is when I'm at home. It doesn't go off when I'm away from my house.

You're welcome!
I was stumped on my own where you have it at your 35 second mark. Thank you for showing how to pry along the edges to get the battery exposed.
Glad the video was helpful
Ugh thank you so much your video saved my life!!! Kept having the car alarm go off due to a low/faulty battery in the middle of the night!
Glad it helped!
Thank you! 🙏 I’m handy but never would have figured this one out on my own 😅😅
Great video. I changed mt battery but my fob will only lock not un lock. Must be something else wrong with the fob.
Either the battery you put in there is dead or it's upside down
THANK YOU for this ! YAY my fob is working again 😊
You're welcome!

It's likely a weak battery. Get a fresh battery and give it a whirl - CR1616 Battery you need - amzn.to/3WMRWDp
