Richard Gene The Fishing Machine I'm sure that he is not the last fan you are going to run into on the lake. I'm planning a trip with a buddy out to Weiss Lake with a buddy.... hopefully while the slabs are still on this fall, if not it will be in the spring. We are in the Atlanta area so it's not exactly like we can do a day trip. Never know.... I might see ya on the water. Tight lines!
We used to ice fish for crappies and gills with 1 or 2 pd test. You convinced me to try with ultra light. Your my favorite fishing channel. Thanks for vids.
Hello Richard, Another great and very informative video. Thanks for letting us in on 'SOME' of your secrets. 😁 You are an all around great fisherman and equally great person. 👍🏽
RICHARD you always make me want to go fishing and try something different. Thanks for sharing your experience. Keep having fun and I hope you will have your own fishing show someday your the best . Life is good. Glad to see your life vest in the boat .
Mr. Gene you might just be my hero. I'm enjoying the videos and the knowledge. I'm just getting back into fishing and you have me wanting to chase Crappie bad. Love your enthusiasm and personality. Keep having fun!!
Another great fishing video. Glad you were not smoking in this video. I show these to my grandkids and have to explain that Richard Gene is a great fisherman but he needs to stop smoking. I appreciate your explanations regarding techniques, conditions, equipment. You have helped me become a better fisherman. My wife is tired of my using your "Go fishing when you can, cause it's good fer ya!"
Thank you Paul! That smoking is a bad habbit, i've doing it sence I was young so its hard to break. Try saying cause its gooood fer us! maybe she will like that one better! lol
Paul Drapac I am 58 years old and I was the youngest boy out of 3 my brother let me smoke . I started smoking the summer before the 1st grade and smoked all my life. I am quoting in the next 2 days so please pray for me
Moving on up Gene, getten fishing reels sent to ya. You gonna go somewhere someday I see it coming. Like to see you succeed. Keep em coming and I'll keep em playing.
Excellent ....... that's all......LOL I'm skeeered to use any line lighter than 6lb test. Why? Cause in my mind one of these hook sets are gonna be on that 3 to 5lb crappie & I don't wanna shoot myself from losing it due to too light of tackle.... then again I don't feesh bridges which probably helps in that super light line workn, I'm always bumping wood be it stumps or laydowns.....NICE show Elmer keep'em coming....
if it could only COOL down in OKLAHOMA a bit so i can do some fishing. Not fall here yet, and as ALWAYS another top notch video. Officially my favorite youtube channel for fishing. TIGHT LINES RICHARD, keep em comin' brother!
Well Mr. Fishin' Machine you are now the big time! Great reel review. You can take some of those big bucks your making and go out and buy yourself one of those spot lock trolling motors so you won't have to tie up to the pylons any more you can get your GPS spot lock to hold you on the spot!!!! Go fish'n when you can cause its goooood fur ya!!!!
1lb test? Thats what I use for Ice fishing, man! I do love me some ultralight tackle, rods, reels, etc. This should be a fun watch.... great tip on opening the gap on those little tiny jigs. I started doing that on some of my little long shank, small gap hooks I use with minnows. Seems to help.
man, you have nerves of steel, fishing with one pound mono.....great tips on using those micro jigs....glad to see you are getting some attention from the fishing industry cause you deserve it....nice looking reel too.....guess i will stick with my 4 lb test on my ultra lite outfits.....but fun to watch a pro go face to face with 1 lb.....have a great week sir. You just keep getting better n better every video.....thanks Bill
Awesome video Gene you are the crappie slayer. My granddaughter is 5 she loves to watch crappie videos with her Papa. She was ask does Gene the fishing machine have any new videos and she goes around saying go crappie fishing when you can cuz it's good for you! Lol.
Nice video. Those little BGs on a 1/64th oz. lead head fished with light line can be deadly. Been there, done that. Just be ready for the big bite cause it can and does happen!
Nice one big guy. I’ve tried those tiny jigs but there’s too much current over here in my neck of the woods. Did pick up some good ones near Decatur yesterday but they’re still slow.
I want to fish that bridge when my boy and i come down! Reckon when it will get real good fishing, Richard? Got me 2 of them yellow rods ordered too! Keep filming buddy! We love all of them!
Richard Gene The Fishing Machine I appreciate it brother!!! Hay funny story for you ...me and my 2 year old Hj watch your videos and he cracks up everytime you do Elmo 😂😂😂😂 its hilarious ... Brother we enjoy your knowledge and your sense of humor ...that's the best combination to have! Thanks for responding and we look forward to watching more videos indeed!
Gene the fishing machine love your videos been watching them a while love them what Bobby Garland colors do you recommend for Stockton Lake in Missouri it is 1 foot two up two sometimes four to five foot visibility it is off colored a lot of times also if you had to pick three Bobby Garland colors to take what would you take appreciate your time and I do go fishing when I can I know it's good for me that's why I go thank you again I will keep watching
Thank you Jonah! for those conditions I would probably use blue ice. If I had to pick 3 colors I would go with, Pink phantom, blue ice, monkey milk! Thanks for watching my friend!
HeyR. Gene, ya really need to COMMENT ON THIS.i watch your channel Religious ly. I fished, today in a spot I haven't fished, since my buddy passed. I actually haven't fished, period since... you remind me a lot of him, he was good like you. ..and a character like you. I didn't think I could actually fish anymore. . .Thank You. . I miss him So Much. ... You helped me actually helped me try... I got Skunked, I'm in Texas, but....ai Just had to Let a him Go.... Thank you. Guy/ in Texas. listening to you helped. ... and it's Very Hard.. But you helped, like you will never understood. Elmo!!!! let him...Go. Guy
Woo Hoo Fishin Machine. Saying Good day Cap'n look forward to seeing the crappie rod people send you various crappie rods for your expert go fishin comparison as it would be greatly appreciated. I personally enjoy my 7'6 " rods for various type of applications. How ever I am seriously considering a couple of specialized crappie rods for both dock shootin and length flipping. Seriously will be purchasing for the up and coming year. Fish on Brother.
I don't know about these piscifun and kastking chinese deals. They're the same price as the wally matthews by Lew's reels. The china ones aren't sealed up in any way. I had my kid drop one on a beach and I was combing the desert to find the reel once I got it opened.
Dude, why are you fishing with 1lb test line? I mean 2 lb test line is really on the light side but 1 lb test! I fish with 4 lb test and I still get broken off at times. What might be your reasoning? Is it so the jig falls more naturally thru the water column when you are slow twitching 1/64th or 1/80th micro's or are you fishing 1lb test just for the sport?
Glad you specified the 1/80th as a micro. You are correct sir! Most yahoos think a 1/32 is a micro...and it isn't. So, glad someone else knows the difference!
How does Electric Chicken perform in fresh water? I've tried everything I know with it in salt water here on the Gulf Coast and get absolutely zilch for bites in any weather/water conditions.
Richard the micro jigs would be good when fish are hard to catch like when we have rapid weather change...that is what i have read. what is your opinion?...and go fishen when you can !!!
I think it's 100% true. This video here isn't really suitable weather conditions, the water was too dingey for this technique. I had some requests for it so I went ahead with it. However it's a good example of how crappie are sight feeders. Thanks so much for watching Danny!!
Hey Richard, what highway is that, that runs by those bridges? My Susie and I would love to find them and take the boat out and catch some of those pretty fish
Thank you Lance! To be honest I'm not sure the brand. I bought it at a flea market. It was on a blank black spool, i bought 2 or 3 of em. i'm not sure where it comes from, however i know it is 1lb. I compared it to 2lb and this 1lb breaks very easily lol Thanks for watching Lance!
I just wanted to fish this technique is all. I love using different techniques, and this was on my to do list! Thank you for watching PCL Outdoors & Bushcraft !

Alright Richard...Get on them fish with that 1 lb test...I've gone to 2 lb but ain't tried the 1 yet...Good job..
Thank you Mike!
I haven’t even seen 1 lb test for sale at bass pro
Glad you specified the 1/80th as a micro. You are correct sir! Most yahoos think a 1/32 is a micro...and it isn't. So, glad someone else knows the difference!
Awesome ending!!!
Thank you Rick!
Welcome back to my stompin grounds Mean Gene !
hahaha. little bait, little fish. Nice job. One pound line, next week we will using spider webs lol. Finesse.
I'm hooked.
MO glo electric chicken got me a crappie at lock 17 Tuesday
Very nice catch brother!
I use 6 lb test because I've lost a few fish getting wrapped around lily pads/cattails. Burns me up when I lose a nice fish to too light line.
How does Electric Chicken perform in fresh water? I've tried everything I know with it in salt water here on the Gulf Coast and get absolutely zilch for bites in any weather/water conditions.

That crappie at 10:00 is lucky a big flathead catfish ain't got him yet. LoL 😂
Hey Richard, what highway is that, that runs by those bridges? My Susie and I would love to find them and take the boat out and catch some of those pretty fish
i'm not sure the number of the highway, But it's right on the same road the college is. Thanks for watching Rob!
Richard Gene The Fishing Machine Which college Richard? We're not familiar with the area.
What brand is your 1 lb line you use, Richard? Where is best place to get it? Thanks, good buddy!
Love the vid!!! What kind of net is that?
Thank you Joseph! The net is a frabill. I bought it at Walmart.
You are underrated
You recommend these for bream or you like that squirrel tail?
O'Brien is so right... Go Fishin'!
Life's short, fish hard!!
great video
That fan was funny, I wish I coulda dun that!
Hi Richard, I left a comment asking about your boat! I don’t see it up here anymore! Did I miss your reply?
Hey Richard, where did you come up with your theme music? Its on the level of Perry Mason, you always get your fish :)
Judging by some of the crappie caught, that setup should be perfect for bluegill to be used as catfish bait.
I was just curious the reason for using such small light jigs and line?
I just wanted to fish this technique is all. I love using different techniques, and this was on my to do list! Thank you for watching PCL Outdoors & Bushcraft !
He wanted to laugh at the electric chicken. Lmao
Did you catch any fish in southside
I went down their and i caught two or three, but they were small and the wind was blowin pretty good so i just come on back
All of the bobby garland are on sale @ cabela's and bass pro for 1.79 a pack.
I would be scared to fish 1lb mono but I can imagine It cast super well. I use 4lb as a standard but 2lbs when I’m fishing lighter baits
what dip net is that? i like it
Its a Frabill, I got it at walmart for 16 bucks. Thank you for watching Stuck Norris!
no problem man your good people. thanks for sharing your know how
cool video
Thank you Jose!
