When I saw it live years ago when aaron was with the almost.. Thinking about jt now still gives me chills. The whole crowd together was a beautiful moment
When I first saw Underoath live back in 2006 Warped Tour the singer would swing the mic cord around his neck, throw it out everywhere and flick it back and catch it. That singer had amazing stage presence
@GeddoLee Their old vocalist, Dallas, is in Maylene and the Sons of Disaster. He was the vocalist on "The Changing of Times" and all of the albums before it.
@742617000027j96 you werent saying that.. you were saying tim is an original member.. he's not, but yeah i know aaron did great things, haha he's my favorite drummer of all-time and my role model :)
@huntert2194 Oh, and here's another definition of Metalcore: Metalcore is a fusion genre combining various elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk. The earliest of these groups, Integrity, began performing in 1988; some modern practitioners of the genre include Killswitch Engage, Underoath, All That Remains, As I Lay Dying and The Devil Wears Prada. Metalcore is distinguished from other punk metal fusions by its emphasis on breakdowns: slower, intense passages conducive to moshing.
@huntert2194 A Day To Remember are metalcore, as are Blessthefall, Our Last Night and We Came As Romans. You're thinking of Metallic Hardcore as Metalcore. Here's even a definition of the vocals of metalcore: The vocalizing technique in metalcore is generally screamed vocals, particularly common among many 1990s metalcore groups. Today many metalcore bands combine screaming vocals with the usage of clean vocals usually during the bridge or chorus of a song.
the one thing i wish i could've done is go to a concert where they played this song, so i could sing the "drowning in my sleep" part with the audience. it would've been so fucking sick. but, i'm positive they aren't touring anymore :(
@huntert2194 Hardcore has no singing though, thats what differs metalcore/post-hardcore from being hardcore. They still have some sort of singing in it. and a lot of Define The Great Line isn't screaming, Spencer yells also.
@animeking1120 I have no idea where that comes from because i was saying their guitar player resembled somebody. Nothing bad about the music. I love Underoath even witout Aaron
you know when you type "lol" and you don't really laugh out loud? Well I just did the complete opposite and laughed out loud at your comment. hahahahaha.
I've been up at this all night long I've been drowning in my sleep I've prayed for your safe place And it's time for us to leave Time is running, it's running on empty And the gas is running out I've decided that tonight is the night that I Iet love aside Full speed ahead, this seems to be the place I've seen this once before Planned perfection sought in my dreams Hoping this would take you home My knuckles have turned to white There's no turning back tonight Kiss me one last time Around this turn where the cross will cast your shadow The people will all gather To remember such a day where the flames grew as high as trees And the world, it stopped, it stopped for you and me My knuckles have turned to white There's no turning back tonight Kiss me one last time (shut your eyes) My knuckles have turned to white There's no turning back tonight (so hold on tight) Kiss me one last time (shut your-) I will now bring new meaning to the word "alone" Endless nights of dreaming of life And the day we should have spent here Drowning in my sleep, I'm drowning in my sleep Drowning in my sleep, I'm drowning in my sleep Drowning in my sleep, I'm drowning in my sleep Glass shatters and comes to a halt, I thought we'd be there by now I thought it would be so much quicker than this Pain has never been so brilliant, I made sure you were buckled in Now you can walk hand in hand, hand in hand with him My knuckles have turned to white There's no turning back tonight Kiss me one last time (shut your eyes) My knuckles have turned to white There's no turning back tonight (so hold on tight) Kiss me one last time (shut your-)
you can't really compare Joey and Aaron. They play completely different genres. Aaron tends to stick with a lot of open crashing and quick rolls while he sings whilst Joey doesn't have to worry about singing at the same time. Slipknot is almost compltely built around Joey's blast beats and as such they stick with what has worked with them for the past 15 years. You can't argue with either bands' success
@huntert2194 you are absolutely correct. i listen to the O Disambiguation album almost every day and wen i gotta hear aaron, str8 2 lost in the sound of seperation
@MrAaronDavid hardcore bands do have singing in it, Oceana does, Underoath, Confide, Blessthefall, Our Last Night, To speak Of Wolves, A Day To Remember, We Came As Romans. Those are all Hardcore bands. If your talking all screaming, that would be mostly metalcore, because i can't name one band thats hardcore that only screams. Post Hardcore is a lot softer than hardcore but its still kind of heavy just like Before their eyes, Pierce The Veil, A Skylit Drive, Saosin, Lower Definition.
totally agree. i dont like the term screamo. it sounds like "emo" and thats not what theyre are singing. i dont have anything wrong with that genre. thats just not what underoath is.
" hey i'm the guitarist from underoath , and for this next song , my entire bottom half of my body will stand absolutely still , while my top half will create some massive bearded mosh pit.
great live performance... most of the Bands of this kind of music sound terrible live, but they did a very nice job :D btw my favourite song of them...
Aaron Gillespie and Spencer Chamberlain of Underoath turn 40 years old in 2023. Mick Jagger and Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones turn 80 years old in 2023. I wonder how screamo/post-hardcore will age 40 years from now..in 2063.
Mid 2000s was peak Underoath and no, I'm not arguing.
Anyone who would argue that Is a fool.
You’re not wrong. But they still play that shit like they just released it. They’re so fucken good
These guys really broke the mold for their genre. Such a great band... Miss them.
Good thing they’re back!
I like their old stuff, new stuff, every song
YOU BETTER BE GOING TO THEIR 20 YEAR ANIVERSERY TOUR MF
Has to get be one of the most hardest hitting choruses of all time, it always gives me chills
When I saw it live years ago when aaron was with the almost.. Thinking about jt now still gives me chills. The whole crowd together was a beautiful moment
Say what you will about the keyboard player, but I know for a fact if i was playing with Underoath, I'd be going nuts
also Chris writes alot of music for underoath
The Keyboard guy is the reason why Underoath have such a distinctive and interesting sound
@@guesswhaaat8006 exactly ! The Underoath Exclusive Melody is definitely because of him.
Right? If he is dumb to be jumping than what about the crowd? He cant be the only one not jumping, tf?
Chris is really important though
Holy shit Aaaron is a monster, he hits the drums so hard, that's not something you see every day, and he manages to sing beautifully while doing it!
Spencer voice is so brutal live frickin love it
Thumbs up for the best band ever.
Man It's gotta be hard to be able to sing while playing the drums.
+EricaFlipped tis
Keeping your mouth near the mic for sure, but he's not the only. Don Henley, Phil Collins and many more!
John Bifulco the rev
Also, drummer from Biffy Clyro is an incredible vocalist
Smuggy Puss came here just to make sure someone mentioned the rev, thank you
Aaron and The Rev from Avenged Sevenfold are my favourite singing drummers!!!
SkitzoSinister Same
What about Funeral for a Friend drummer?
@@babonsia6317 he's not singing.
I’ve been listening to Underoath since 2007, and for the first time I get to see them live in a few months. I can’t wait to sing along to this song!
I really love the way he sings that part in 1:00
The live version is better than the studio version
i loved the song from the beginning but now i can't stop listening the live version *____*
I can agree with that. Drums especially are much more lively in this live version.
one of the best live bands I have ever seen they would sound better that studio edits
thats clean vocal not scratch and pop or nothing how do they do it
True
@@tahlequahstandingbear1722 amazing

so fucking good live!! brings me back so many memories growing up with this band
They are so fricken good live
Man I really wish I could have been there.
is it just me or is this whole video just beautiful
That may be so, but aaron's voice and his drumming is a big part of what got me into these guys.
Underoath still heavy in my weekly Spotify
This must be the feeling equal to standing in front of the gates of heaven
Joder.. este tema me pone los pelos de punta... Saludos desde Bolivia.
Aaron is just completely ripping it! I get chills everytime I watch this!

Not even gonna lie, I was listening to this one year at band camp, and some of my friends thought it said that.
@huntert2194 Dude, they're metalcore. Hardcore don't have breakdowns, whereas Underoath do. These guys are metalcore.
the one thing i wish i could've done is go to a concert where they played this song, so i could sing the "drowning in my sleep" part with the audience. it would've been so fucking sick. but, i'm positive they aren't touring anymore :(

I've been up at this all night long
I've been drowning in my sleep
I've prayed for your safe place
And it's time for us to leave
Time is running, it's running on empty
And the gas is running out
I've decided that tonight is the night that I Iet love aside
Full speed ahead, this seems to be the place
I've seen this once before
Planned perfection sought in my dreams
Hoping this would take you home
My knuckles have turned to white
There's no turning back tonight
Kiss me one last time
Around this turn where the cross will cast your shadow
The people will all gather
To remember such a day where the flames grew as high as trees
And the world, it stopped, it stopped for you and me
My knuckles have turned to white
There's no turning back tonight
Kiss me one last time (shut your eyes)
My knuckles have turned to white
There's no turning back tonight (so hold on tight)
Kiss me one last time (shut your-)
I will now bring new meaning to the word "alone"
Endless nights of dreaming of life
And the day we should have spent here
Drowning in my sleep, I'm drowning in my sleep
Drowning in my sleep, I'm drowning in my sleep
Drowning in my sleep, I'm drowning in my sleep
Glass shatters and comes to a halt, I thought we'd be there by now
I thought it would be so much quicker than this
Pain has never been so brilliant, I made sure you were buckled in
Now you can walk hand in hand, hand in hand with him
My knuckles have turned to white
There's no turning back tonight
Kiss me one last time (shut your eyes)
My knuckles have turned to white
There's no turning back tonight (so hold on tight)
Kiss me one last time (shut your-)
