It sounds awesome I just hooked it up to the new ilx-w670 and it fits like a champ and my speakers are ct sounds meso 3 ways for front and ct sound meso 6x9 coax for the rears. It sounds incredibly good. It literally puts out the perfect amount of power to get your highs screaming and hitting hard. I didn't even upgrade to a thicker power wire. I just used the factory head unit power wire from jeep which looks like 14g . I know it would crank a little more power if I ran a 10g. Or 8g wire to the amp. But it still puts out good CLEAN power. I just wonder how it will do in the summer heat smashed behind head unit like that. Hope it doesn't overheat
Use the high pass on your head unit unless you like taking the the amp out every time you want to make a change

Can somebody explain to me what's so special about Alpine's "DYNAMIC PEAK POWER". Is there any note worthy distinction between DPP and other peak numbers that I have misled with in the pass?

Just purchased the head unit and this amp today. Haven't installed it yet. It's going in my Sons 07 FJ. Hopefully, at $225.00, it was a good choice? For the output, the price seamed a bit on the high side! Combined Stereo/amp cost $685.00
Price includes installation. We're not sure what speakers to use AND, we need an amp for the sub...10" Alpine C series I believe. Any help would be appreciated.
I too got this amp and the ilx-w670. I have the gains set to about half on both front and rear and it sounds amazing now when I add a subwoofer it will be perfect I'm very impressed with the sound increase from this amp I had just the head unit running everything for about 3 weeks. Now with the kta 450 it fn screams and the 6x9s sound like a low powered 8inch sub haha great sound quality 👌

How would the sound quality if using the speaker level inputs vs a audio control type unit for a factory head unit? Especially if it’s it’s a sub amp. Thanks guy!
I used the ilx-w670 for 3 weeks wired to speakers powered by the radio only and it sounded pretty good. And then I got this amp and hooked it up behind the ilx-w670 and used power wire from the factory power harness (no 12v wire to battery bigger for this amp) the factory sized power wire is making this amp rock so unless it melts my power wires this summer when a hot load is on the wires it's perfect for behind the deck. Don't even see it but I agree with the other dude don't use the crossover on amp. Use the head unit as crossover that way you don't have to pull it out every time you want to adjust it

Can I splice and split the power of the amp with the power cable of the reciever?
Yes that's how I installed mine. Factory wiring harness for main power wire. I just spliced into the 12v battery wire. Same wire that is powering the head unit ilx-w670 and the amp ROCKS

i didnt like the c2s cause they had no bass or mids but had crystal clear highs but the type r door speakers were worse so maybe u should buy the jl c5 setup.

I prefer the ktp-445u. It's an easy enough installation when you can tap into factory power wiring to power the amp. If I'm gonna run power wires to the amp from the battery, I may as well go with an amp that has more juice because to me this is pointless for only 50 watts rms 🤷♂️
It's 60 rms of alpine clean power so it's equal to most 200watt amps. I only have my gains to halfway and it is making ct sound meso 3way components sound awesome

So far sounds very good but like you I do not want loud I want great quality sound. Considering i already have a nice setup.. do you think by adding this AMP will it make a big difference? I'm looking for quality sound... not loud sounds...

Jeff Arguello Hey bro just wondering how those Alpine PWE-S8's are treating you? I have a 2002 Subaru WRX that I wanna get the S8's to install under the driver seat and passenger seat as well and I just wanted to know your opinion on it. Thanks for any advice you can offer.
Bc of the way the bass bounces throughout a vehicle I wouldn't go under the seats. Make a small box that takes up a portion of the back. Maybe 10inches and make it look like you never put a box in it and you will be wayyyy happier with sound quality that way. Under the seats really kills the performance of the subs. I have done both and I wouldn't go back to under the seats ever again. I mean its better than not having any subs but after spending the time and money to amplify 2 subs why not get some great Performance out of them ya know?

This mini amp is basically for inside speakers. Use a separate mono amp for sub

@@brettbaker5873 this amp can be bridged to a 2ohm so it technically can. But it makes no sense to do that.. o and its 50 rms each chanel

Sooooo how does the amp wire up to the head unit?
The amp rca’s on the back of the head unit. Then there are speaker wires from the amp that are output.
And for power wires
12v battery
Ground
Remote
All 3 just tap into factory wiring that powers head unit. After this summer I will know if we should upgrade power wire to 10g or 8g power and ground 🤔 time will tell

You can but it's not going to be any easier than a regular amp install. It's not going to mount behind the head unit all nice and pretty like it does on the alpine head unit.

How’s sound quality?
The sound quality is ALPINE all the way and if you have ever had an alpine you know that the sound is pretty much the best and cleanest you can get unless Macintosh or old school clarion or something else ridiculously expensive
Looks like a PITA for installers... having to tack on the amp inside the car with all the wires attached and then trying to thread in micro screws without dropping them.
Cup & Cone if i gotta go to the battery might as well put a real amp in. Like a 5 ch incase they decide on a sub???
This amp powers the highs GREAT. I was skeptical but I just hooked it up tonight and it fn screams with clean crisp power. Now when I add a sub it will only be a sub amp to hide so I should be able to make it look like factory and hide a sub amp behind a panel in back. If I had 2 amps in the back or a giant 5ch amp I wouldn't be able to hide it. I plan on using 2 ct sounds meso 10in subs. They are beautiful looking and sound amazing so I plan to make a pretty enclosure so I can mount the subs reversed to show off chrome n white basket. But the amp made the mids and highs sound excellent 👌

Since these both use "class D" aka "chip amps" as their amplifiers, and are very compact, wouldn't it be nice if manufacturers started including powerful amps in their head units so this kind of upgrade wouldn't be necessary?
wrybread the power isn’t there or they probably would, factory head units only have 15amp fuses, so how would they make that work? Unless they made you Wire your head unit to the battery
@@Bajaheat one of the things about chip amps is they're super efficient, so 15 amps at 12 volts is plenty. But I'm all for having an option to connect directly to a battery for more power, for subs for example. It's obviously commonplace for dedicated amps to do it.

Sony does make a few head units with built in amps, that are rated the same as these.
Exmaple: Sony DSX-Gs80
Back in 1995 I had an alpine 7803 (in dash cd player) not pull out, turn knob volume. And it put out 40wx4 and it sounded awesome they should have started making that their standard power output. It wasn't bigger than a normal deck. It's clarity was top notch. Sure do miss that head unit lol

JUST to update poeple, i picked up my kta450 today...the LONG "flat head" screws are now phillips head.
Yes, we did a coupe last week and were over joyed to have the right screws.

So not much difference than the ktp 445 u. Except it’s slightly wider. And all wires on one side. Love my 445 u so glad this is just the same

Alpine: lets make a radio that is ( $300 ) mechless and then make a ($200) amp that attaches to the back of it as a gimmick to make it look cool which it kind of does and easy to install I'll say that, but doing this so that the radio can have the same amount of power that $500 double din radio already has. Yes its nice but, if you want other features such as you know the DVD CD player that's going to be an extra $400. The audio video package for the radio is like $1,500 so yeah this setup is for all you Ballers out there.

@masterwrong3110 I think he is referring to the power the head units put out. Back in the 90s almost every alpine deck put out 25-40watts x4 but I agree with you the technology now is pretty awesome
