A Ray Charles live performance is a gift. And I appreciated how much you put into this reaction, the knowledge, the respect, the enjoyment... it was great. Thank you.
He performed this at the World Series approximately 2 weeks after the attack of 9/11/01 so this was a nation still in pain from losing over 5,000 Americans and yes everyone in that audience knew how special this was to have Ray Charles sing his beautiful rendition of this song.
I remember watching this on t.v. when it happened as a kid. It was and still is AWESOME!! This is the one and only version of this song that the country needs to hear. It should be played at ALL events. Throw away ALL other versions. Thank you so much Mr. Charles...
What no one has mentioned is that the nation had just gone through 9-11 and were hurting. In this very performance Ray Charles is helping to heal and unite a nation that just experiened the terrorist attack on our nation. Watch the crowd and players....its empowering! Great reaction!
@@realbser1956 Greetings to you also. Yes it has been awhile. I missed Chod, so am happy to listen again. While Chod was gone, I discovered another reactor who plays alot of the music I like by the name of Bizmatic. He also has had copyright issues and quit for a while, but has just started back up this week. Lots of blues/rock in his back library which makes me happy. Come over and join us. 😊
I bawl like a baby when I see the wonderful Ray Charles sing this so beautifully! EVERY TIME!

Ray also has this song on reccord, I love this. but it's not the National Anthem as some have said, our anthem is "The Star Spanngled Banner".

Back when he was growing up, regardless of what path your life was on and how you felt about your country was two different things.
So many people in that stadium crying. Every time I hear him do this I cry too. He was the very best at it!
Ray always coming in on that back-beat allllllmost late, but never. The best to ever do it.
Ray Charles is an iconic American, known and admired worldwide. A gift from god to the rest of us to enjoy.
BROTHER RAY PREACHED THAT NATIONAL ANTHEM LIKE NOBODY'S BUSINESS...💯❤️🔥🙏😌🪷💯💖💯🙏❤️🔥

Couldn’t agree more, watch his rendition from Super Bowl 35 and the second sugar ray leonard V Duran fight in 1980 those both were great!!
That was Glen Campbell clapping and chewing gum when they introduced Ray.
Iconic doesn’t even begin to describe this performance by Ray. That was Joe Torre, manager of the Yankees, whom you thought was getting emotional.😊
Did anybody else get Goosebumps 😊
One of the best renditions of that song ever
Oh! I haven't seen you in SO long!!! I'm glad you showed up in suggestions. How is your wife?
@ for purple mountains majesty! I never understood that! Until I lived in Arizona when at sunset the color of the mountains turned purple! Beautiful!
Boy, I wish I was there. To share an experience like that is very special.
Thanks
His version of this should be our national anthem.

Great reaction!
Ther is a vid of Ray doing "Georgia" in the GA Gen Assy, a body that had banned him for not playing to segragated crowds.
Iconic is right. The great Ray. Beautiful
Hi Cindy, hope you’ve been well.😊

Nice reaction and suggestion.
I'm digging your reaction videos - you understand the music my friend!
Remember this was the 1st world series game in NY after 9/11 They honored our dead .
You cut off too soon. The ovation for him and his reaction to it was wonderful!
I had a chance to see him once. Didn’t go. Big regret!
I wonder how many tears are on that flag.
This is like 3 weeks after 9/11 btw
Old Ray? Please, put some 🔊respect on Mr Charles Name young Man.! 🕊️🕯️🙏🍁🍂🎃
