Oh this brought me back to when my baby was newborn, sweater and onesies was our jam as well 😊 for toddlers we love bonnets as they can’t take them off so easily 😂
Bless you for talking about knits in a warmer climate!!!!! I’m having a baby in February and it will be chilly where I live, but our summers routinely get up in the 90s and 100s so it was super helpful to see what you made and what you used!!
My grandson is born in December last year! I learned that sewing buttons with dental floss is a little more secure than wool/yarn. Previous to that, I sew with yarn. You can also sew a few strands of yarn and then sew a few strands of floss over the yarn or vice versa. I knitted a lot of knitted baby knits for my grand son. However, my DIL only used one of the blankets. Nevertheless, it was still fun to knit. Enjoy your bundle of joy! ❤
I’m so excited to see this! I’m a fellow Texan knitter and I’m expecting my second baby in March. I knitted my first born a few of things he never wore. So I’m trying to figure out what to knit for this baby. But the weather will be getting warm by the time the baby will be coming. So I’m trying to decide if I should knit a few cute newborn things and wait to knit 9mo baby clothes.
Hey mama, if you do end up wanting to knit more socks but want them to be grippy, you can purchase non slip sock liquid silicone to put on the bottoms 😊 I plan to do this for my next toddler sock creation :-)
Hi Carslee I love your hair cut with the layers , really cute ! I’ve been watching you fir sometime and all the baby knits you did were so beautiful Have a great day !!! 😊💝🇨🇦🇨🇦
I loved this! We’re about to have our third baby but I’ve never knitted anything for my own babies (until they were about 2) so I’m knuckling down now and finishing a few things off for our little one - now I have so many more things I want to make 😂
Loved hearing your reviews of the knits from a parent's perspective!! I want to knit some baby items for a friend, but have been struggling to figure out what would be most practical. So good to know that the Friday sweater has such a stretchy neckline - I LOVE the way it looks but had the same worry of it not fitting over the baby's head! Looks like it won't be a problem. Also it's helpful to think about how kids might be grabbing at buttons - I never even thought about that but it's a good point! Your knits are beautiful as always!
I’ve been looking forward to this video! It was really fun and I wish I had it while pregnant lol. My guy was born in September, just as it started getting chilly, and he also primarily wore pullover sweaters and hats over a onesie or zipper sleeper. I also knit him a little blanket that we used a ton over his straps in his bucket seat.
I agree that people are sleeping on the sleeper + sweater combo - I loved that, especially with bottom up zipping or snap sleepers because diaper changes were super easy! I always sew my buttons on with thread rather than yarn and feel pretty confident that they are secure on there. I was casting on the Knitting for Olive baby bear suit while watching this video. Have you seen it? It’s going to be Elliot’s Halloween costume and then hopefully she can wear it the rest of the fall/winter as a bunting.
i love elliot for a girl’s name! i saw a tip somewhere to sew on buttons with nylon thread, and i had some lace weight nylon so that’s what i did for my niece. not sure how they’ll hold up as she hasn’t been born yet though
Really enjoyed seeing all of your baby knits, especially because I'm also not too far from you in Houston and it's always nice to see what other ppl in the area are knitting, considering the weather and all! LOL! Hannah definitely has great patterns for kids. I've knitted her Back to School socks, Ollie's Classic Crew and Ollie's Bear Hat before and loved them all. Thanks for sharing!
Just found you on TH-cam and I'm excited to subscribe. I'm in Texas also, I can't wait for fiber fest. If you're going maybe we'll bump into each other.
Just a suggestion but I bought a small Teddy Bear and dressed it in the outfit I wanted to keep. My son still has that bear, he's 34 years old now.
My mother did the same with her favourite gifted handknit sweater.

I tried baby socks too for my second kiddo. He never had a chance to wear them, so I use them for Christmas ornaments on the tree.
I love your thoughts on a baby knits! Your knits as a garland at your shower must have been adorable! What a fantastic idea

The socks look a lot like the "Perfect Newborn Socks" on Ravelry. So cute!
Very cute knits. Love them. I agree with you about the buttons.

Fellow Texan, love this. My babies are due in July and I am getting ready to knit baby leg warmers 😂😂
