One thing I appreciate about DW7 is that it really humanizes Cao Cao. Before he was seen as this overly ambitious conquerer. However we see that he is conquerer who regrets that he wasn’t strong enough to protect himself and not let those who protect him die, he is upset that the people see him as a demon and not a savior/protector like Liu Bei, and fears that might of Guan Yu.
Hit me right in the heart when Cao Cao died, I always thought they were the villains.. But this instalment really gives him humanity, especially with Xiahou Dun's reaction. Its already been 7 years and this is still one of the saddest cutscenes in Dynasty Warriors history.. The slow laggy cut of Xiahou Dun's reaction is just like the old Chinese movies I used to watch..
Cao Pi was recorded as excellent swordsman as he studied martial arts from Shi E, a gentleman of household from "Rapid as Tigers"(虎賁) division of the imperial guards.
DW8 is absolutely amazing and comes on top in pretty much everything except two things... the cinematics don't have nearly as much oomph as the ones in 7 do, I don't think I can even remember a single cinematic from 8 that was the least bit memorable when at the same time I could probably name two from EVERY KINGDOM'S STORY in 7 off the top of my head even though it's been years since I touched it. The way they did the CGI cinematics in this one was absolutely outstanding. The second point would be the lack of an English narrator between stages. Jesus christ I didn't think I'd miss that as much as I ended up missing it. Playing 7 I'd be sucked in and immersed for hours on end, mainly because the narration would throw me right back in after a stage, even though the gameplay is obviously subpar to 8. Forced to play 8 with Japanese audio, not that I mind that but the English narration in 7 was freaking gold. Really makes you wonder how big of a budget hit that would've been. Such a shame. Can't wait for 9, whenever that's gonna be! Just my two cents.
Niohoggr DW8 does the in-game cutscenes and action scenes way better imo, but I'll admit DW7's scenes are more emotional, especially the CG cutscenes, they are well done in terms of executions. As for the lack of English narrator, that and the lack of voiced dialogue in camp segments bothers me a bit so yeah I agree with you.
Spoilers: it was a disaster. The only saving grace was the new cutscenes we have never seen before. (Liu Shan and Jiang Wei argument) (Xiahou Ba’s troubled decision) And many more
Unlike his father, Cao Pi concentrated most of his efforts on internal administration rather than on waging wars against his rivals. During his reign, he formally established Chen Qun's nine-rank system as the base for civil service nomination, which drew many talents into his government.
@@DeardropsRiho Kinda makes sense when rulers felt their end of their lifetime. They want to achieve something to remember them which results in hasty preparations. You can always see the pattern with rulers throughout history.
Cao Cao only wanted to destroy Guan Yu, he doesn't really care about Liu Bei. He could never ever hope to defeat Shu. Because he's inferior to the Simas. End of story. :)
+Cao Wei Wrong,Jin defeat Shu not Wei,and Sima Yi who fight with Shu was a coward, who don't dare to attack only after death of Zhuge Liang, the great strategist at this era.
@@zyracxes9333 Wei defeated Shu, not Jin. Jin dynasty was established after Shu surrendered. And Sima Yi was a coward? Sometimes being defensive is better.
What about my icon? I do feel bad for him, losing two people he's close to within a span of a couple of months to a year (Dunno when Dingjun was or when Cao Cao died.)
I like how this Dynasty Warriors really gives a different direction for Wei, whereas ROTK and past DW installments love portraying Cao Cao as unscrupulous.
@vpkevin99 That's where you're wrong. Cao Cao was never the "bad guy," it's just that the early games portray him and the rest of the Wei officers as "evil" because they were never afraid to dirty their hands in blood to achieve their goals. Cao Cao only wanted a land where every man can succeed if they put in the effort. As Cao Ren said, he wanted a land where "everyone will know the value of hard work," which is a far more realistic goal than that benevolence crap Shu was selling IMO.
Also in actual history when Cao Cao captured the central plains many of Yuan Shao's army surrenderd to him but he "didnt have enough food" so he orderd that they be burried alive.
I like wei story most, some of their cutscenes were actually quite sad, especially for standard of these games. (Dian Wei death) But Pang Tong is my favorit (Not only in-game, but also in real history) so I guess I'm with Shu. Too bad that each game he was getting less, and less cutscenes. In DW6 he didnt even get special mission in cheng du (Or where he did die, not sure) :(
Zhuge Liang ordered Guan Yu to intercept Cao Cao during his retreat at Chi Bi. However, Guan Yu could not kill Cao Cao because earlier in the story Cao Cao showed Guan Yu great hospitality. By Guan Yu's honour, he did not kill Cao Cao because he wanted to repay that debt. However, Guan Yu swore that the next time they meet, there would be no debt and Guan Yu would kill him.
Let's agree to disagree on this one. When Zhuge was reagent he knew how and when to figth and keept the kingdom stable (even supresing a rebelion in the most efficent way possible). On a side note it is my understanding that Jiang Wei's campaings were far more expencive that those waged by Zhuge Liang. In the end we wil never be sure on this "What if...". Still prety fun to debate about it with you. :D
Indeed it is. As I understand the only reason why Shu managed to sustain itself was because Liu Bei was rather popular with the people (not to mention he was cousin of the late Han emperor givin him some legitimate claim to the throne) and Zhuge Liang genius. When both of them died Shu was doomed.
lu bu are not worthy to recruited, he didn't had any loyalty at all, he's a traitorous dog who gonna bite the hand of it's owner sooner or later if he had a chance, remember what happened to Dong Zhuo, Ding Yuan, and the last, Liu Bei who he betrayed when he offer him a shelter before he taking the province for his own?
It kinda sucks because after Cao Pi's death, Cao Wei grew weaker until Sima Yi overthrew Cao Shuang and formed Jin. So technically speaking, Wei fell to Jin before any of the three kingdoms. :(
Well given the time were it happend (around 200 B.C). I think that it is a massive archivement, specially in a prolonged time of war (since war drains resources with little to no profit). At any rate Zhuge Liang was an efficent (but not extraordinary) comander, proved by his campaings against the barbarians, though he was always stoped the far more experienced comanders of Wei. And yes it was prety lame how Shu ended. Thats why I say if Zhuge Liang or Liu Bei had survived it wouldnt happend.
Shu was a pretty defensive-able position it was Zhuge Liang's and Jiang Wei's constant northern campaigns that crippled shu and nothing else, had Zhuge Liang still been alive not that much would've changed really.
I'll admit he was a go administrator but it's hardly a massive achievement, Wu was in the same position and had even more wealth then Shu did, the difference is Wu had more restrain when it came to doomed northern campaigns when Zhuge Liang did not. Though it didn't help that Jiang Wei eventually got himself into a position of authority..... one of his first actions was to remove all of Wei Yan's defensive plan in favour of a massively more risky one which surprisingly didn't work. :|
But it is more complicated than that. Zhuge Liang is a master of astrology and he foresaw that Cao Cao would not meet his end at Chi Bi. Zhuge Liang purposely sent Guan Yu to intercept Cao Cao because he knew Guan Yu would not kill Cao Cao because of his past debt. That way, Guan Yu would repay his debt by allowing Cao Cao to live and Guan Yu would have no excuse but to kill Cao Cao the next time they meet.
@tavish11 Honestly, every game they mix up Cao Cao's relations with any other Cao or Xiahou family member. Going by the names, I'd say Cao Ren/Hong is his brother. And Xiahou Dun and Yuan are his cousins.
Wow. And I thought after watching Shu this cannot get any sadder. Man, I didn't know Cao Cao can make a face like that. Ahhhhh I always feel bad for Xiahou Dun at Cao Cao's death because man, with the loyalty he has, seeing Cao Cao die...he really loved Cao Cao and even lost his bro Xiahou Yuan for him. Id have to disagree. Id say what doomed Shu was the issue over Jing with Wu. The losses they suffered over Jing and around the battle of Yi Ling....was INSANE! Shu never really fielded an army the size they did than in the campaign for revenge on Wu. They just lost so much Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, Huang Zhong, Guan Ping, Ma Liang, and most of their army burned....not to mention the loss of Jing. Oh, and of course, the death of Liu Bei. I admit TRK makes him exagerates his characters (and DW being an exageration of TRK...) but still the point still stands that it was both of those men who keep Shu together. Zhuge Liang wasn't a genius he was just a very good administrator and decent at defensive battles. The Moment he went on the offensive was the moment we saw how useless he was.
Zhuge liang was a freaking genius. If u actually read into it he legit knew about every death in shu he allowed guan yu And zhang fei to die. It's just that the games paint him to be this angel because u know shu are the bestest guys but he was at times way to sinister.
