- I chose to sleep till about 8 am and then went to one of
my mid morning spots. It didn't take long to get on a
Gobbler. Watch as this hunt unfolds from my action camera.

I love the fact that you still get the "shakes" after all these years and birds!
Amen!
The day I don’t get excited when I see game will be the day they cover me with dirt.
Want to share my bird for the year briefly if'n y'all kindly don't mind. Set up at a roost site at 6 pm. Put a decoy facing me at 25 yard or so on the point of a drop off to the river. Played my tecmo super bowl until 657 and hit my slate squawker softly. At 710 one hammered behind me about 150 yards I spin around hit the ole slate and get still. 5 minutes later I hear turkey sounds behind me. Light clucks real soft. Okay a hen...Drumming. Ole boy eased in behind me! Couple minutes go by okay if I have to do it. I spin my torso around expecting to see him fly off. He's fanned facing my decoy. What is happening! Popped him when he dropped the fan. And that's my story, my 2023 season and the only turkey I saw, or heard all season.
You know its real because its ridiculous.
Nice job! Turkeys always do the unexpected.
Dale I'll be 70in a week..you are so right.Stuff that was easy...not so much anymore.😂
Use to hunt in tn! Still have a place to stay! License has gotten high! Looking for place next year! Any suggestions? Willing to pay a reasonable trespass fee! Longtime watcher!
Loved the shaky hands part, thats real 💯 👌
21 Years Old, I hunt here in Gila National Forest in NM, first year hunting Turkey ever as a guide and have called in 13 Gobblers and 8 jakes for our clients using your tactics, in a 15 day period! Thank you.
Just turned 60 and your right the hills get steeper!😂 I got an ebike and it helps a lot!
You are a master of the craft great video
awesome !! thank you for all you do great hunt !!
You need to get an E bike for going up that hill!
Congratulations nice bird
What’s the saying? Something about “hunt as much as you can because your body will wear out long before your desire to do so does!”
Nice bird Matt. First day was the first time i heard a gobbler and my heart was pounding. Ive been hunting like mad since. My first year taking turkey season serious. Thanks to your informative videos im motivated to get me one. Appreciate you Matt take care.
Dale hey
Congratulations. Love late season. Sometimes late season Gobblers will surprise you out of nowhere. Killed many just standing behind a big tree when there is no time to set up.
Congrats on the bird Matt. You are not lying about western Virginia. I'm just further north up in the "Valley" and it is beautiful when springtime comes around. As you know, turkey hunting, trout fishing and finding mushrooms in our area is just a great springtime tradition that you cant get away from doing. Keep up the good work man, best of luck on the rest of your season and God Bless.
You inspire me the knowledge you share is amazing! I have goal this year to voice call a bird. No call!
I just turned 40 this past March these mountains of north Central Pa get ruffer and ruffer to climb every spring
If you wear camo face mask and gloves you will get picked off less.
Good hunt! I killed 2 first week plus missed 1! Not much gobbling this week, I hope it’s just the weather! Went to Indiana last week very good hunting!
If they go to gobbling u will get up it matt
I've used a lot of your little tricks and had pretty good luck, thank you. But I recently discovered on my own that just because you kill a turkey you don't have to go home. If you have a little patience the other turkeys will come back out and your buddy can kill one too
Congrats nice bird! What is y'alls limit in Virginia? Ours here in SC is 3 and the first 10 days of the season you can only shoot 1. Enjoyed the video.
Good job, Matt! How you liking the new Stoeger by now?
Congratulations…. You got the job done..
Hey bud I wanted to say I thought you had lost some weight. Looks good one...or off of you lol either way 30 lbs is no small achievement.
here in tennessee season opened april 15th. the first week of season i had good luck hearing gobbles and callin in three total. missed on on the 16th and killed one on the 18th. however the last two weeks i’ve covered a lot of ground with no gobbles anywhere. do you think they will fire back up as season goes on?
