Just stumbled across this review over a year later and it's persuaded my to buy a copy of Warriors of the Red Planet and I've also picked up Freebooters :)
Great review! Glen your knee capping yourself without adding in Colonial Troopers! These games are modular in nature. Night Owl Workshop excels at making games you can add together. I know you hate 'war' based Rpg's but Colonial Troopers isn't a traditional war rpg. Its closer to Larry Niven's Ring World or traditional pulp.
I hope so. I'm not really into sci-fi (even Star Wars kinda bores me after a while) especially "hard" sci-fi (never could warm up to Traveller). I saw the covers, immediately thought "Starship Troopers" and moved on.
There's a lot of the 'Starship Troopers' vibe in there or it could be Flash Gordon. This is where the players & DM have to make the call. Anyhow a good solid review my friend keep it up.
I want to use it to run a science fantasy/sword and planet game set on a fantasy version of Saturn.
