@@Phl0gist0n43not that many who go to Europe go pro but I agree that it’s another avenue to garner attention in hopes you get recognized and picked up by some team in the league
played soccer with Jake in middle school. I remember him scoring a goal from midfield. always had a crazy leg. also a great guy! he deserves everything thats coming his way
Went to school with Jake’s brother. As soon as Pat had him on I’m like wait a minute I’ve seen that guy before lmao. Small world. Hope he makes it to the league!
Impressive that the ball tracked so straight! That takes more than leg. Takes a really good snap, great spot, and superior work by the kicker to not let that ball hook or slice. 😊
They already contacted him. But, the Lions front office is not located at Ford Field. It is located at their practice facility in Allen Park. A little more than just a walk downstairs.
Who says they won't? Be reasonable for him too since he's already living in state. Stick around after their season winds up and go try and win a superbowl in the winter
I still can't understand why the NFL hasn't endorsed a spring league. They need a place for undrafted players to showcase and they take so many innovative ideas from these leagues and incorporate them into the NFL. It could just be a testing ground for players and game changes.
I love having football all year round, UFL hopefully can create a lot of epic storylines for the NFL too. Saw that Panthers game, those kicks were wild.
Watching this in hindsight as the Lions are on a potential Superbowl run, and this man has already sealed 2 games for them with deep bombs.... Bates is speedrunning the destiny Pat set up for him. Calling it now, Bates seals a Superbowl win for the Lions to avoid overtime against the Chiefs for their first Lombardi
It took the Arena league for Kurt Warner to get a shot... This is why there are farm teams in MLB... They should expand the UFL with that thought in mind...
These new leagues really the new wave of sports right now, it was always a thing in like baseball and soccer but now football and basketball are starting to take notice of the talent in these places, pretty dope
I remember at 22 training to attempt to walk on at arkans and would practice 63 yarders since it was the nfl record and could average 8 of 10 good and 5 yards above posts. So cool to see an Arkansas ex player go after his dream.
Spring ball does so much good. Over looked guys get a second chance, young guys that need time to develop get a second twice, Guys that know they are not making the pros but want to get paid rather than grades get a shot. Let's GO!
UFL delivering on the promise to give guys that chance to breakthrough to the NFL, and is providing fun football as well. It'll only get better as time goes on because more high level players will want to play in the UFL!
This is a more of a question than anything else, but since he has kicked a lot either in a dome or warm weather would he be as effective in like New England in the dead of winter?
Jake has already been in the NFL before. He had brief stints with Tampa and Houston but never kicked field goals, so he can sign with any team that makes him an offer. Jake "Boom Boom" Bates.
I can remember a kicker for the Browns tried a 70 yd FG once. It was dead center but about a yard short. Non soccer style.too. can't remember his name.
The UFL is going to be a great development league for players that didn't get a chance to shine in college. They can put real reps on tape. Eventually these teams could be like baseball farm teams actually controlled by NFL Franchises if they merge.
Idk how you don’t kick till highschool then come in and hit two 64 yards. So impressive and I’ve heard a few nfl teams have come asking about him. As they should.
If not for these leagues, no one would've seen what this dude can do. Good stuff. 👍🏾
Besides kickers, everyone many can go to Europe and become pros
@@Phl0gist0n43 True, though that's not guaranteed either, or they just play soccer and that's it.
@@Phl0gist0n43not that many who go to Europe go pro but I agree that it’s another avenue to garner attention in hopes you get recognized and picked up by some team in the league
@@Phl0gist0n43being able to do it in America is better
It’s great that these dudes are in a more concentrated league because they’re showing off skills against good competition
It’s the back to back part that impresses Pat so much. Not just any jabroni can hit two
Best part of the UFL is guys like Bates finally getting some spotlight
He ended up hitting a 62 yarder this week. Unfortunately it wasn't in a win but still. Back to back weeks with 60+ yard field goals. A weapon!
That ball had like an extra 5 yards on it. He might be able to hit 70yd
Indoors too. No help from wind or at elevation.. That’s crazy strong leg
@Danjr704 double pumped it on the run up too. Would've been good from 70 for sure
He’s good for 69 any day
At Least 5
Definitely can hit 70 im honestly surprised it hasnt happened yet
Here getting back story on Jake Bates after his stellar kick against vikings yesterday, great down to earth guy, detroit loves you man!
Seeing pats face light up when he talked about ball speed was really cool
Pat shooting up a 🙏🏼 when bates said “god had another plan” was hysterical timing. That was subtle and perfect 😂2:45
He wanted to mock but caught himself
played soccer with Jake in middle school. I remember him scoring a goal from midfield. always had a crazy leg. also a great guy! he deserves everything thats coming his way
Nice
Signed with the Lions! On to the big leagues for him. Badass dude!
Good for him . Well deserved
Dude could've made it from farther too, it was insane
He just did it again and came in clutch for the lions
🦁👌
He's already in Detroit and you better believe he's going to stay.😂
I watched it live randomly and couldn't believe it and that's exactly what I was thinking as a lions fan
Nah! He's gonna be wearing purple in Minnesota...
Lmao 😂 you called it
@@pillowbugghe’s a Lion for the next 2 seasons…. Lol
@@pillowbuggWell... He did make a pretty good kick in Minnesota at least
Went to school with Jake’s brother. As soon as Pat had him on I’m like wait a minute I’ve seen that guy before lmao. Small world. Hope he makes it to the league!
Love this guy's character/humbleness. Go Jake!
"I hit 67 on my pro day... it hit the ceiling but it was gonna be good..." LMFAO this kid is nuts.
Every team in the league is gonna want this kid now, so happy for him!
Impressive that the ball tracked so straight! That takes more than leg. Takes a really good snap, great spot, and superior work by the kicker to not let that ball hook or slice. 😊
Who’s back here after his 52 and 58 yarders to beat the Texans in historic fashion?
Never thought I'd go to a football game to see a kicker but might have to head down there. See what the new lions kicker looks like in person....😂
Rams need this guy. He’s signed this week
When I drive I listen to Pat, SIMPLE
Way to go Jake! You have no idea how many folks are pulling for you! Go after it!!!
Wishing him nothing but the best and hopefully he can make the big leagues soon if he keeps it up seems like a really hard working humble dude
Image being the Lions, and your #1 need is Kicker....
and you dont sign this guy because the GM is too lazy to just walk down the stairs lmao

Signed a 2 year deal with the Lions. Let’s go!
Vikings get this guy
my browns need to bring him in..........
Packers need one too 😂😂
Vikings already have a spring league kicker on the roster
He's not leaving Ford Field.
LIONS ARE ALEEADY IN TALKS WITH HIM 😂
Welcome to the Lions. Hope you get the starting job
Jake: “God had a different plan for me, but now I’m here.”
Pat: “Hell yeah.”
Hope he gets his chance in the NFL!
I have a feeling though, that the teams will wait for the UFL season to end to see if he maintains consistency.
This is awesome man. No one makes these younger guys feel more invincible then Pat.
Props to pat really pumping this kid up with the BACK to BACK narrative. What a G
I was at the game, and the first thing I heard after he hit the first one was the lions need to sign this guy right now
Now he’s kicking Game Winners for the Lions like last night
So glad Pat is covering the UFL and giving these players some media time! Surprised he didn't mention Aubrey from Dallas though.
And now he’s a rising star with……..wait for it…….. MCDC’s Detroit Lions….. and headed for the Superbowl. One Pride.
pats little prayer got me so good hahahahah
Welcome to the Lions!!

Jamal Charles had a similar story. He played behind big name backs at Texas and never got a chance to shine until the Chiefs got him.
Could be the greatest football kicking achievement of all time.
And bro just hit a 62 yarder before the half this week 😂 bruhhhhh
This leagues kickers are really raised to kick for the brand! Love to see it 🤙🏻
July 26 2024, and Jake " the hitman" Bates becomes the starting kicker for the Detroit Lion!

Was there with the kid. What a great moment
Is this the guy who now plays for the Detroit Lions ??
This is the guy who delivered the victory against to the previously undefeated Vikings today
@@victorhinojos3050 Yes I saw him kick the game winner today !!
I’m all for seeing people succeed
These leagues are giving these young men opportunities that so call scouts or NFL teams didn't think they are good enough.
Damn, second kick was better than the first.
64 and 64 is wild, Hope my Lions offer him a deal.

Hope the young man gets his NFL chance and keeps knocking bombs for who calls him. Great feel good story world needs more of these.
That’s dope!
Maxx Crosby 2024 DPOY!!!
What's going on with this new generation of kickers? 64 and had more air under it that's crazy.
Looked like it'd be good from 70. It was pretty far up on the uprights going through
He's going to be playing for the Lion's
Back to back 64 yard fg is nuts
What a great kid!
PLEASE NEVER CHANGE PAT.
If I was the opposing coach, I'd be sure to shake the young man's hand after the game. That was great.
It’s stuff like this that make sports so great.
HOLMES GIVE THIS MAN A CONTRACT FOR AFTER THE PANTHERS SEASON. LET THE NEW TEAM BREATH.
This is the REAL sports show....
Most consistent kicker in fantasy
He a lion now one pride babyyyy
As soon as I seen him make it and then they took a timeout to ice him i was like Pat is gonna have him on his show for sure now!
That thing had some velocity.
So good, they should replace his first name with "Master"
Everybody gonna be watchin the Michigan Panthers now!
I just randomly had it on in my garage and couldn't believe what I watched. Wild as hell
Amazing. Should be NFL bound with that performance......
Bates has the leg to challenge Justin Tucker's distance record of 66 yards.
I hope he gets signed to an NFL team. The UFL can bring light to so many guys hopeful careers.
This is a more of a question than anything else, but since he has kicked a lot either in a dome or warm weather would he be as effective in like New England in the dead of winter?
He’s getting an NFL job TOMORROW. That dude has the leg and between the ears.
We're in the era of the kicker.
bro is getting drafted. .... done deal.

if they had 16 team league, played a little later maybe dip into june/july would be great, summer football would be killer
How in the hell is this dude not in the NFL
Don't know what happened, but he had brief stints with Tampa and Houston. He never kicked a field goal in a game -preseason or otherwise - for them.
Thanks Pat you gotem the lions job
Idk how you don’t kick till highschool then come in and hit two 64 yards. So impressive and I’ve heard a few nfl teams have come asking about him. As they should.
Will Reichard will be the first kicker off the board
