What a great video. I am also looking for my first Rolls Royce and I will follow your metrology for acquiring one. Excellent color choice extremely rich looking . Once again Bravo 👏
Well done, looks like a decent car. Buying the best car you can afford tends to be the best place to start, although however good and I speak from personal experience, there will always be something on your to do list. A good Shadow/T series is a joy to own, I love mine, it puts a huge smile on my face.
Great Video and helped me a lot. I'm in the market this year or early next year and I'm going to convert it to LPG and have a fuel station installed on my daughters farm (she doesn't know that yet ha ha ha ha ha)
It's been a long wait, but well worth it! The colour did attract me to the car. I had a choice of a brown car with slightly less mileage but this colour won me over. Glad you liked the car.
Always buy the best car you can afford, it usually works out cheaper in the long term. A good one is a joy, a bad one a nightmare. However good, there will always be something on the to do list, so put some money aside.
@@jjefferyworboys8138 Well that's exactly my philosophy. Put the money in at the beginning. The old saying comes to mind. 'The only thing more expensive than looking after a RR is NOT looking after a RR'!
Looks a beauty. I've always thought these and the T2's a great looking car. I presume you've followed 'Harry's Garage' with his ebay purchase, the subsequent artic circle trip and now the refurb? Good luck with it, look forward to updates.
Yes I've seen Harry's garage. He took on a bit of a project when he had the work done to the car and it looks as though there is still more he is going to do. I never wanted to undertake a restoration so my job now is to keep her in as good a nick as I've found her. I don't think I'll take her to the arctic either!
Splendid video with a very interesting perspective - not just reporting on a RR Silver Shadow, but on a search for a good one. By the way - I know Mike Scott very well and he really is very knowledgeable. I am eagerly waiting for part two! Channel subscribed.
Thanks Rudolph. Yes Mike was very helpful in his assistance with this purchase. Anyway the 'adventure' continues now that I have the car with more videologs to follow. Glad you enjoyed it.

Thanks Ben. Haven't had too many opportunities to try out if other traffic will give me space, but here's hoping! Happy with my dealings with Ghost Motor Works. Bob
Well. . you slightly spoilt the notion of hunting for a good shadow by going to ghost motors and picking one up there which will have cost twice as much as one you could get privately. ( Least you didn't get the cream wedding car !) I also think that a few drips and a bit of leather wear is fine unless you want something concourse. But if that's what you were after. You were gonna pay for it.
Really? I don't think that the car I purchased could have been bought at half the price I paid. Given the amount of work that was done on the car after my RR technician's inspection (and it was a pretty decent car at that time) I am happy to say that I have had trouble free motoring for 12 months based on the route I took to market. Not everyone in an accredited RR technician (I am certainly not) and to buy such a car without their input in my mind would be sheer folly. The slightest thing that can go wrong with this car can cost £000,'s to put right. Yes, it was bought at a price at the top end of the market but to be running the car after 12 months with little or no further financial input tells me that this was right decision I made. There are alternative routes to buying a RR Silver Shadow. One may be fortunate and buy one for less and have no issues but having had the car for 12 months I believe you get what you pay for and these videos show one way of entering this market.
@@rowebbroadking7237 I think I probably worded my initial comment badly . I enjoyed the videos very much. My initial impression was that it was time a hunt for a good car which I have undertaken a few times in this field. But I supposed I meant that the hunt was a bit cut short as you went to ghost motors where every car will be in tip top conditions...but the prices are high. For the average man who may want to dip his toe into the RR world I think that a very good car can be obtained for around £18k on the private market. I got a corniche 2 years ago for 27k. I viewed one at 29k that really was nowhere near as nice as mine as needed some mechanics. That same car is now sitting at ghost motors priced up at 68k . I know that car had £8k of work done after I viewed it to bring it up to scratch and then sat for sale for another year with no takers with another vendor. So the same car that I could have bought this time last year for £37k ..is now for sale at 68k... Just shows their markup 🙂
Lee, yes no doubt there is a big mark up on a sale from such a RR specialist. I am not surprised that they can sit for so long and wait for a 'discerning', buyer to come along. The process was definitely short cut through the Ghost Motors buying route and had I waited longer and shopped around a bit more then I could have possibly landed a bargain. I have now decided to sell the SS rather than put it in storage for the winter so you can see how I got on with that. Some videos to follow in the next few weeks regarding that. Then onto the next project and video logs!!???
@@beegeesthea6 That is very interesting reading. Being in the market for a FHC RR or Bentley, a dealer can hold cars for so long in stock, and have a considerable mark up. However, I am searhing for the best I can find, looked at ELM7J online, not quite what I am seeking, continue to search. Out of interest, how did you source your motor? Best regards.
Looked through Autotrader and tracked prices and specs for a few month to see what was happening and then got my RR engineer to go and see a few and get me a full report on their condition and identify any work which may need done. It worked for me!

I hope you have as much luck as me when buying the car of your dreams. Take your time, do your homework and employ an expert. It's worth the money!

Very true! I'm not mechanically minded and neither should you have to be to enjoy such a car. Mulsanne Motors are my backup for any problems.
