Carlos' Bakery looked like a cupcake from Vons. Bill and LIsa, don't be afraid to say something wasn't good. You guys are too nice. I agree with you and I didn't even taste them! Ha! Carlos cupcake looked like something I could get at the bakery in Safeway. Those speciality cupcake shops, especially the ones that are privately owned put their heart and soul in to it. They are much more creative and their ingredients seem to be fresher. Hows that for an unasked for review? Ha!

From the looks of it...I thought Mad Hatter would be the clear winner because it looked the most moist and had another texture to it 😅. A few shootouts requested: 1) croissant 🥐: Bouchon Bakery (Venetian) vs. Cafe Belle Madeleine (Paris) or Bellagio Patisserie. 2) cheap prime rib under $15: El Cortez vs Magnolia (4 Queens) or another downtown cafe. Look forward to the next shootout!
I've tried both. I like the horseradish sauce they give at El Cortez and you can't beat the ambiance at Magnolia and food is good. El Cortez Prime Rib special is available 24/7 and Magnolia is available in the evening. At least that's how it was before COVID-19
Next time I think you need to get the same cupcakes to make it a better comparison. But maybe a doughnut wars next! If you do, try glaze doughnuts and pinkbox.

Taj Palace Indian restaurant is in the next strip mall north of there. It's our favorite for Indian cuisine. They have really good Indian beers, too. The Thai restaurant Pin Kaow is very good, too. My husband got a few cupcakes from the Cupcakery and boy were they good!

Love me some cupcakes. Small portion control and many different flavors. We have in San Francisco the winner of the Cupcake Wars from FoodNetwork. Large selection. Interesting Flavors. As you noted with many, top is piled high with sweet frosting. Not my liking. I scrap off some. Learned from a TH-cam post the best way to eat a cupcake. Remove from the paper wrap. Take a knife and cut the cupcake horizontally in the middle, Take the bottom portion and place on icing. Now eay to eat. jmo

I got the lobster tail at Carlos! It was delicious, but that cupcake looks amazing as well! I came twice for the rainbow cake and they ran out both times haha I gotta go to the Santa Monica location for it
We had the lobster roll there once, it was good! You can get the rainbow cake from the Cake ATM (there's 2, one outside Pizza Cake and one inside casino side) or inside Pizza Cake. But, we know you'll be checking out the SM location, we'll look forward to that vlog! lol
