  • A lot of us have way too much designer paper on hand in our studios don't we?! One EASY way to use more paper is make BIG cards!! Here is an example of 3 cards BIG vs basic A2 size. See what you think! These will require "Non-machinable" stamp addition in the USA.

Hi Kathleen - You are so welcome! I am hoping the crimping stapler will work better with Vellum. But if not, I am good with a dot of glue to help hold. It's a pretty cool visual regardless.

These are beautiful cards, Julia! Go big or go home! I will definitely try this - even though it looks complicated, it isn’t and the DSP really does make it. TFS! ❤️🇨🇦

    Hi Julia,
Ohhhhh, I loved the third card that you showed prior to your card demonstration. The colours were lovely and soft, and it would be ideal as a wedding or anniversary card.
The card you made in today's video was delightful, and I thought the placement of the designer cardstock was perfect. I liked how on the left-hand side that the bird and the birdhouse were both up top of the card as it made sense visually.
I believe that simple cards are a blessing as it uses up our cardstock, but when you make lots of cards it helps making them in bulk.
Also, when I make envelopes for special sized cards, I use my 123-punch board by We R Memory Keepers. It makes envelope making simple once you figure out how to use it. I must confess I had a few boo boo's before understanding how it actually worked!
Julia, PVA glue is mainly used for adhering paper, cardstock, felt etc... I wonder if the sometimes expensive glues that we purchase and use are actually some sort of PVA glue, what do you think? I know the Ranger Multi Medium Matte isn't as it is very different and dries with a matte finish.
Have a wonderful day crafting my friend.
God's blessings, love and hugs, Gloria 🥰💐❤

Hi My Friend!! I also use my 123 punch board for envelopes and there were some ugly envelopes when I first started. The squares are ever so easy tho.
I had the same thought about the PVA glue. What I am finding is the Art Glitter glue bonds quicker that all the rest and is best for embellishments or sticking something you don't need any slip. The PVA works best for paper - paper there is just the right amount of slip and then set. Bearly Art is a little too runny for my taste, but is a fabulous glue - just not my fave. And the clear Elmers is definitely a good inexpensive alternative. It just has a long dry time.
I am every thankful for TH-cam for introducing us. Have a day full of Blessings! Julia

I love those cards. And I am so glad you showed how to make that closure. It isn't hard at all like I thought it was.
I had wondered about that stapleless stapler. I will say you are so brave to use it the first time when you were taping.... like cooking a brand-new recipe for company, really scary.
By the way, I bought one of those Teflon bone folders and it has changed my life when I am making boxes for my niece.
I have learned so much from you! Thanks for sharing your amazing ideas.

Hi Sybil - They are easy once you do the first one, for sure! And, ya know I like to be real so y'all will see my mistakes as well as successes. It's the way of the craft. I originally saw that crimper used on vellum and it will probably work great for that. And you get the effect with glue this way, so it's all good. I got my Teflon bone folder years ago after heart failure at the price. They have come down a lot. You are right it is a total game changer!! Thank you for your sweet comments!! Hugs!!

Hello Julia. I have far too much designer paper too! But still I collect more. 😊 I love how these cards come together. You are so right about our overuse of strong glue too! I had a laugh over the crimper and faux effect. I would have done just the same. Nobody knows except us. 😄That glue looks fabulous but it does not seem to be available in Australia at a reasonable cost.

Hi Kaye - I wonder if there is a different brand of book binding glue perhaps?

  • @ycwalker52

Hi Julia. I love that card. I’m going to try that out. When I was watching you crimping the belly band, I thought it would be easier to run a thin strip of glue on the end, then crimp it. I know that kind of defeats the purpose, but I would do it to make sure it doesn’t pop open. I loved that crimper so much, that I ordered my own. Are you only posting on Sundays now?

I love seeing larger cards made great to see some one showing these tuts thank you also love seeing the 5x7 ones done my two pet dislikes I think would be small cards and hand made cards that look like they are mass produced I know they are serve a purpose but for me personally I would not like to be given a card that that looks like someone’s else this also why I love your scrap cards as they look so individual thank you for you great clear instructions on all

@@cindyfoxtaylor2880 Tombow is great glue, and you don't need that much. Try some small pieces to build up your confidence with less glue. I find if you pause a moment and weight the glue spot down it will grab and you can get by with much less glue than you realize.

Hi J - Thank you!! That enclosure used the same concept, I just used an oval shaped die cut instead of a square. I folded it in half, used 4 die cuts. The process was the same.
